Rumor Has It, That Omega Rocked the Stage Again! - Chapter 24
A day later, once Mu Li’s condition had stabilized, she returned to the First Military Academy. Since their actual relationship had already been exposed, Ji Yu and Mu Li didn’t separate and arrived at the Mecha Club together in Ji Yu’s spaceship.
On the surface, Mu Li appeared calm, but inwardly, she still felt somewhat uneasy. As they entered the Mecha Club, she deliberately maintained a slight distance between herself and Ji Yu.
The other four members had already arrived. When they saw Mu Li and Ji Yu walks in together, their expressions clearly showed they had expected this.
Ignoring Ji Yu, Mu Li went straight to her teammates, set down her backpack, and prepared to do some warm-up exercises.
As usual, Ailina was the first to approach Mu Li. She raised her hand to rest it on Mu Li’s shoulder but stopped halfway, as if sensing something. Turning around, she noticed Ji Yu staring at Mu Li and quickly withdrew her hand, awkwardly rubbing her nose instead.
Ji Yu glanced at the group and, before anyone could say anything, spoke first: “Let’s begin training.”
Ailina and the other three noticed that although Ji Yu was as ruthless as ever in training—pushing them to their limits and making them question their life choices—there was something subtly different about her today.
For instance, when their moves weren’t executed perfectly, Ji Yu would simply say, “Do it again,” without her usual sharpness.
During mecha battles, Ji Yu didn’t go all out to dismantle their mechas, even though she was notorious for mercilessly tearing apart opponents’ mechas during sparring.
After all, the academy’s mechas were all supplied by the Ji family. If she wanted to wreck them, she could afford to.
Moreover, Ji Yu seemed to be going easier on them today. Whether it was their imagination or not, it felt like her attention wasn’t entirely on them, even though she was physically present.
But maybe they were overthinking it. Someone like Ji Yu wouldn’t let her mind wander during combat, would they?
When the training ended and they turned to look at Mu Li, they saw Ji Yu crouching in front of her with a bottle of water while Mu Li leisurely wiped the sweat from her forehead with a towel. Suddenly, they understood.
She had won the beauty’s heart—no wonder she was in such a good mood.
“So what the instructor said that day was true? They really are a couple?” Ailina whispered to Chen Xiyuan, giving him a light slap.
Chen Xiyuan sidestepped to avoid her touch, crossed his arms, and looked in Ji Yu and Mu Li’s direction. “I didn’t see it before, but look at how the instructor, who’s usually so strict, is fawning over Mu Li now. Does that seem fake to you?”
“Didn’t you notice Mu Li barely acknowledged her? Maybe she’s being forced. I need to get to the bottom of this,” Kevin suddenly interjected, making a move toward Mu Li.
“Hey, hey, hey!” Ailina grabbed Kevin’s arm. “What are you doing? You saw Mu Li’s condition that day. The instructor took her away—what do you think happened? Even if Mu Li claims they weren’t involved before, if she’s been marked, what’s done is done, right?”
Kevin clenched his fists. “Even if she’s been marked, it can be removed. Mu Li is too good for this. Just because the instructor is a Marshal doesn’t mean she can bully her like this. I shouldn’t have just stood by and watched her get taken away that day.”
Bai Jingli patted Kevin’s shoulder reassuringly. “Alright, stop jumping to conclusions. Let’s all go grab a meal together later and try to get some answers.”
“But…”
Ailina didn’t wait for Kevin to finish speaking before interrupting, “No buts. You barged in without understanding the situation. Mu Li is an Omega—give her some dignity.”
Ailina walked toward Mu Li, where Ji Yu was handing her a towel and water. She suddenly felt her presence might be unnecessary. The atmosphere between those two clearly showed mutual consent—why were they meddling in others’ affairs?
Ailina cleared her throat softly, trying to disrupt the moment. Ji Yu turned her head, signaling her to speak.
Under Ji Yu’s gaze, Ailina cautiously asked, “Instructor, Mu Li, would you like to have dinner together later?”
Ji Yu seemed to realize something—was this another attempt to stand up for Mu Li? She and Mu Li were legitimate; she was Mu Li’s Alpha. Why did everyone view her this way?
Ji Yu chuckled in amusement. “Sure.”
In her heart, she smugly added: But Mumu and I really are married.
The six of them left the school and headed to a private restaurant Ji Yu frequented. Upon entering, Mu Li and the others went into the private room first while Ji Yu stayed outside to take a call.
Her adjutant’s voice came through the communication device: “Marshal, we’ve completed our investigation into Miss Mu’s incident.”
Ji Yu’s expression turned serious. “Go on.”
“Miss Mu was ambushed in a small grove after leaving the principal’s office. Thanks to the First Military Academy’s cooperation, we obtained the surveillance footage. It appears a group of students from the academy, likely under the influence of recreational drugs, confronted Miss Mu. One of them sprayed her with an inducer when she wasn’t paying attention.”
Even though she had already pieced together the general sequence of events, Ji Yu’s hand clenched tighter upon hearing this. “Identify their backgrounds as quickly as possible. If there are any obstacles, involve the principal under the Ji family’s name—or my military authority if necessary. Speed is crucial.”
Ji Yu could hardly imagine the danger Mu Li had faced—alone, sprayed with an inducer, surrounded by people whose judgment was impaired by drugs. How dare they? This was the First Military Academy.
Meanwhile, inside the private room, Mu Li was being interrogated by her teammates. The sudden solemnity on their faces made her uncomfortable.
After enduring their stares for a while, Mu Li finally spoke up. “Just ask whatever you want to know. Stop looking at me like that.”
Her words unleashed a flood of questions.
“When did you and the instructor get together?”
“Did she help you during your heat that day?”
“How did you keep it hidden so well?”
“Are you really willing? You weren’t forced, right?”
…
The barrage of voices buzzed in Mu Li’s ears. She frowned and interrupted, “One at a time. How am I supposed to answer like this?”
“Fine. First question—did you know the Marshal before?”
Mu Li nodded honestly. “We met months ago, before I enrolled in the academy.”
“What’s your relationship? She said she’s your Alpha—is that true?”
After a brief pause, Mu Li answered, “Legally speaking, yes.”
“That day, when your heat hit and the inhibitor failed… after you left, did she help you?”
Mu Li listened to this and seemed to recall something, her face flushing slightly as she whispered, “Yes.”
Kevin, holding onto a sliver of hope, couldn’t help but ask, “Mu Li, do you like her then?”
Mu Li, who had been completely unfamiliar with matters of the heart before, now had some understanding but still asked uncertainly, “What does it mean to like someone?”
The question caught Kevin off guard, leaving him momentarily at a loss for words.
Ailina noticed Kevin’s hesitation and changed the subject. “Let’s talk about something else. What about the instructor? How does she feel about you? Has she ever said she likes you?”
Mu Li thought for a moment and shook her head. “No. Is that important?”
Instantly, the four of them looked at Mu Li as if she were an innocent girl being emotionally manipulated by a scheming Marshal, too naive to realize she was being deceived. The instructor was really too much!
At that moment, Ji Yu, who had been outside cooling off and suppressing her anger, pushed open the door to the private room.
Inside, the conversation was in full swing. When Ji Yu entered, several pairs of eyes immediately locked onto her, filled with hostility.
Although they had been awed by Ji Yu’s abilities and presence when they first met her, after spending time together, they realized Ji Yu was just a 25-year-old young woman who occasionally displayed youthful impulsiveness. Their initial fear of her had lessened considerably.
Since joining the Mecha Club and spending time together, they had come to regard Mu Li as one of their own. Seeing Mu Li wronged, they felt compelled to stand up for her.
But Ji Yu sensed something was off. Why were they looking at her as if she were some heartless villain, their gazes full of animosity?
Ji Yu turned to Mu Li, who gave her a look that said, “I don’t know why they’re looking at you like that either.” Finally unable to take it anymore, Ji Yu spoke up, “What’s going on here?”
Ailina, looking as if she were about to face the guillotine with fearless resolve, declared, “Instructor, you’re such a scoundrel! How could you do this?”
A scoundrel? Her? Since when?
Ji Yu, flustered, retorted, “Don’t go spreading nonsense.” She then turned to Mu Li. “Mumu, don’t listen to them. I—I’m not that kind of person.”
But to her surprise, Mu Li, who was usually indifferent and unexpressive about emotions, didn’t take her side this time. Instead, she scrutinized Ji Yu silently, saying nothing.
Ji Yu had no idea what had gone wrong. She had just stepped out to take a call, and now everything had fallen apart.
Since it had all happened in this room, Ji Yu turned to the usually outspoken Ailina. “What did you say to Mu Li?”
Ailina avoided a direct answer, swallowing hard before saying, “Instructor, you’re the Marshal of the Federation, high and mighty. Mu Li might not be as strong as you, but she has us. You can’t just bully her like this.”
Ji Yu wasn’t sure whether to be happy that Mu Li had such loyal friends or impressed by their wild imaginations.
Suppressing her irritation, Ji Yu spoke as calmly as possible. “Stop with the baseless assumptions. Do I seem like that kind of person?”
“But you really are irresponsible—marking her and then not taking responsibility,” Ailina muttered.
“I can hear you,” Ji Yu said, her eyebrow twitching. “How am I not taking responsibility?”
“But shouldn’t marking between an Alpha and Omega establish a relationship? Even if they don’t get married, there should at least be a confession or declaration of love.”
Ji Yu finally understood. After being questioned for so long, she developed a mischievous urge to tease: “I already said it that day—I’m Mumu’s Alpha. I’ve taken responsibility.”
Ailina was stunned. That’s it? Just saying “she’s mine” counts as taking responsibility? Do the more powerful and wealthy people just play with others’ feelings?
Seeing Ailina’s indignant yet speechless frustration, Ji Yu felt she’d avenged her earlier ordeal. Smiling, she added: “But Mumu and I—we’re legally bound.”
