Chapter 15 – The Red Marks on His Neck
Chen Sheng slept straight through until morning.
When he woke up, he couldn’t help but marvel—his senior’s insomnia medication was really effective.
After that thing left last night, the dorm had remained silent. Perhaps it was because the medicine had knocked him into such a deep sleep that he didn’t hear or feel anything.
He got out of bed and saw that his senior had already woken up early.
So, he greeted him proactively.
However, when the senior looked at him, his expression was one of surprise, shock, and disbelief.
He looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated. This made Chen Sheng even more confused.
What’s going on?
Chen Sheng then noticed the senior’s gaze was fixed on his neck. He couldn’t see his own neck, but from the senior’s stunned reaction, he began to feel uneasy.
“Is something wrong, senior? Is there something on my neck?”
He asked, and the senior responded,
“Junior… did you go out last night?”
Chen Sheng was even more confused by the question.
He quickly shook his head and said,
“Senior, I fell asleep right after taking the pill you gave me. That stuff really works—I slept like a rock until just now.
Even if I hadn’t taken the pill, I still wouldn’t have left the dorm in the middle of the night.”
After saying this, he saw that the senior still looked doubtful. Feeling anxious, he rushed into the bathroom.
In the mirror above the sink, Chen Sheng finally saw his neck.
There, several glaring, vivid red marks stood out—clearly not insect bites. They were so deep and distinct that they almost looked like…
Marks left by someone sucking on his neck.
When he saw them, a wave of revulsion surged through Chen Sheng.
No wonder the senior had reacted that way. But there was no way he would’ve done something like that, and he certainly hadn’t gone out.
So—it had to be that thing again.
Taking advantage of the medicine’s effects, it had done something to him while he was deeply asleep…
The thought made Chen Sheng shudder. He immediately turned on the tap and began furiously scrubbing the skin on his neck.
He scrubbed so hard that the skin stung, determined to erase every trace of the red marks.
He wished he could scrub the skin right off if it meant erasing those stains. His entire neck turned red and painful.
But the marks didn’t disappear—instead, his scrubbing had made them stand out even more, especially the ones that thing had left behind. They were so dark and pronounced that anyone could see them at a glance.
Chen Sheng lost control. He broke down, covering his face in despair.
At that moment, he heard the senior’s voice outside the bathroom.
“Junior, someone’s been messaging you nonstop. Looks like something urgent. Are you almost done?”
Oddly, the senior’s voice brought Chen Sheng a small sense of comfort.
He splashed cold water on his face and tried to collect himself.
“I got it, senior. I’ll be right out.”
After rinsing his face, he glanced in the mirror again. Seeing the angry red mess he had made of his neck, he didn’t know how to explain it anymore. But he didn’t want the senior to misunderstand.
He had just told the senior he wasn’t interested in dating anyone. If the senior misunderstood now, would he think Chen Sheng was some sleazy liar?
But what could he say?
The senior didn’t believe in that thing’s existence—and besides, that thing had done… that to him.
Chen Sheng, full of frustration, walked out of the bathroom. He saw the senior unfolding a small table and placing his laptop on it.
When the senior looked up and saw him, his gaze once again flicked toward Chen Sheng’s neck—before quickly shifting to the laptop.
“Um, junior, if you need help moving later, just let me know.”
But Chen Sheng had caught that quick glance—he could see the misunderstanding in the senior’s eyes.
It hurt.
He gripped the hem of his shirt, bowed his head, and said softly,
“Senior, I really didn’t go out last night. And what I told you yesterday about something being in this dorm—it was true. Whether you believe it or not, I didn’t lie to you. I would never lie to you.
Because… you’re someone I really admire at this academy. Ever since I came here, I’ve heard so many good things about you. So… I could never lie to someone like you.”
He spoke quickly, his face flushed red, tongue tingling from nerves.
After he finished, the senior replied.
“Junior, you…”
Then sighed.
“That thing you were talking about… sigh, forget it. Just go check your phone. Maybe your friend really does need something.”
Hearing this, a wave of bitter sadness surged in Chen Sheng’s chest, like tiny needles stabbing at his heart.
Nothing he said mattered anymore.
The senior didn’t believe him.
If he kept insisting, he might only end up making the senior hate him.
Chen Sheng figured that whatever impression the senior had of him… it was probably ruined now.
He bowed his head, hiding his emotions, and returned to his bed.
He picked up his phone, and the moment he turned on the screen—
He saw a flood of messages.
All from that sender: “I’m always watching you.”
Just seeing that name almost made Chen Sheng lose it completely. If the senior weren’t still in the room…
He buried himself under his blanket, trembling as he read.
[I’m always watching you]:
“Chen Sheng, you smell so good… Wearing my clothes, your whole body is covered in my scent. I want to smear even more of my ‘essence’ all over your face… and your whole body.”
“Do you like the special mark I left just for you? I want everyone to know—especially that senior of yours—that you belong only to me.”
“Just the thought that the one sharing your dorm right now isn’t me, but that Gu Zhen guy… it drives me crazy with jealousy. Should I just kill him? Wear his skin? Then I’ll be him. He’ll be me. That way, Chen Sheng… we can be together—openly, proudly.”
Chen Sheng’s eyes widened in horror. He stared at the screen, hand still covering his mouth—but he couldn’t tell if it was soaked from sweat, spit, or tears.
He felt like throwing up.
Why had this sick, twisted thing chosen him?
Why?!
He began to tremble as he typed a reply, emotions surging—rage, fear, disbelief.
Chen Sheng:
“Why are you targeting me, you disgusting freak?! WHY?!”
“I won’t let you hurt the people around me. I have nothing going on with the senior—we’re just roommates! If you want to kill someone, then kill ME. DO IT! Come out and kill me yourself!”
He slammed the message through, his fingertips turning white from how hard he gripped the phone.
He buried his head under the covers, sweat soaking his forehead, but his limbs were freezing cold.
And right after he sent the last message—
At that exact moment—
A new reply popped up from “I’m always watching you.”
[I’m always watching you]:
“Chen Sheng, I know you’re moving out of the dorm today. Are you sure you want to leave? Do you not care at all about your senior’s life?”
“You think you can escape me just like that? Chen Sheng… don’t hide under the blanket anymore. I’m here. Watching you.”
Chen Sheng read the message—
And couldn’t hold back the scream.
He flung his phone away in panic.
At that same instant—
The blanket covering him was suddenly lifted at the corner.
And beneath that lifted edge—
Appeared the familiar, handsome face of his senior.
No—that wasn’t the senior.
Because along with that face came a chilling, bone-deep cold… and a pair of obsessed, fanatical eyes staring straight into his.
The senior had clearly been possessed again.
That thing had taken control of him.
The “senior” crawled under the blanket, face-to-face with him, and whispered:
“You really plan to leave the dorm? Can you bear to do that? Are you just going to leave me behind? Junior… do you like it when I call you that?”
