Chapter 17 – Going to the Senior’s House
Chen Sheng stayed up until the early hours of the morning, but didn’t hear any commotion.
What was going on? Why didn’t that thing come for him tonight? He wished it would never come for him again.
But that was impossible.
After waiting a while longer, he couldn’t hold on and finally fell asleep.
Morning.
When Chen Sheng woke up, he heard a knock at the dormitory door.
Liu Yang went to open it, and when the door opened—
Chen Sheng looked toward it and saw that the person standing there was that same boy from yesterday.
Why was he here?
Just as Chen Sheng was wondering, the boy walked straight into the room.
Liu Yang looked confused too. “Who is this guy?”
The boy didn’t say a word and just walked directly toward Chen Sheng.
Chen Sheng felt a deep sense of unease.
As the boy got closer, Chen Sheng noticed that compared to yesterday, his face was terrifyingly pale—like someone had painted over it with a layer of fresh white paint, completely masking his features.
Immediately, Chen Sheng had a bad feeling.
Then, the boy spoke:
“I’m sorry, Chen Sheng. It was my fault yesterday. Please go back.”
Chen Sheng looked at the boy’s sudden shift in attitude and that deathly pale face.
Could it be that he had been possessed—or controlled?
Chen Sheng quickly got out of bed, wanting to say, “It’s fine, no need to switch anymore. This is okay.”
Suddenly, he caught a faint metallic scent in the air—bl00d.
He followed the scent with his eyes—
It was coming from the boy.
Yet the boy just kept repeating:
“I’m sorry, Chen Sheng. It was my fault yesterday. Please go back. Please go back…”
As the bloody scent grew stronger, Chen Sheng’s expression darkened.
Could it be…
“Chen Sheng.”
The boy’s eyes were blank and glassy. Though it looked like he was staring at Chen Sheng, his pupils were unfocused.
Eyes like that… only a dead person would have.
Fear surged through Chen Sheng as he instinctively stepped back.
Then the boy said, in a dazed, hollow voice:
“Go back. It’s waiting for you.”
After saying that, he turned around and walked out of the dorm without looking back.
Chen Sheng stared at him in shock as he left, the scent of bl00d still lingering in the air.
Inside the dorm, everyone was stunned.
Zhang Jun came over to Chen Sheng and said with confusion,
“Who was that? That guy was acting really strange… Something about going back, and that ‘it’s waiting for you’? Don’t tell me that’s the new guy who was assigned to your old room? And ‘it’s’…”
Zhang Jun abruptly cut himself off.
At that moment, shouts erupted from outside the dorm:
“What happened?! Someone jumped!”
“Call the police—this is horrible!”
Chen Sheng’s pale face froze in horror.
He rushed out of the dorm.
He ran to the corridor and looked over the railing.
Their floor wasn’t high, so he could clearly see the large pool of bright red bl00d below.
But despite the low height—
The body was smashed to pieces, scattered grotesquely across the ground.
And nearby, the boy’s head had rolled aside.
His lifeless, glassy eyes stared upward—staring directly at where Chen Sheng was.
A twisted smile was still frozen on his face. The combination of bl00d, gore, and that smile made the entire scene unbearably horrifying.
Chen Sheng didn’t know if he was hallucinating—
But he saw the boy’s mouth silently move, opening and closing as if saying:
“Do you like it, Chen Sheng?”
Overcome with terror, Chen Sheng collapsed to the side and began dry heaving.
Zhang Jun and the others had seen it too.
In each other’s eyes, they all saw the same emotion:
Fear.
Soon, Uncle Hat and the school administration arrived.
After reviewing surveillance footage and questioning everyone, they finally allowed Chen Sheng and the others to return to the dorm.
None of the others knew the boy.
Chen Sheng had only met him three times total.
Back at Zhang Jun’s dorm, the others were still discussing the incident.
Only Zhang Jun, after meeting Chen Sheng’s eyes, understood.
From their shared expression of fear, they both knew who the real “culprit” was.
Because of what happened, Chen Sheng didn’t stay in Zhang Jun’s dorm. He had been taken away for questioning and hadn’t seen his senior since.
When he returned to his original dorm with his bag—
He found his senior hastily packing up his things.
“Senior, are you okay?” Chen Sheng asked, worried.
His senior turned around, looking pale and shaken.
“Junior, I saw it last night… the thing you were talking about. It’s not human. It killed Lin Su. It really was that thing. I have to leave now. Junior, are you coming with me?”
Chen Sheng hadn’t expected it to kill.
But of course—just because it hadn’t before didn’t mean it wouldn’t.
He had thought it only had eyes for him and no interest in others.
But now…
That boy must have died last night.
Chen Sheng snapped out of it. After hearing what his senior said, he still shook his head.
“I’m sorry, Senior… I can’t leave. If I go, it’ll keep going after others…”
His senior immediately stopped packing and looked at him, confused.
“You’re saying that thing’s been in this dorm all along, and yet you’re still fine. But Lin Su just got here and died… Next, it’ll be me. If I stay here, I’ll die too. Junior, if you’re still insisting on staying, then do you… know that thing?”
Chen Sheng’s heart began to panic. He didn’t know how to answer.
He couldn’t possibly say the thing was obsessed with him in a twisted way…
Seeing him stay silent, the senior continued:
“If you really have nothing to do with it, then come with me. I didn’t believe in this stuff before, but I have connections—someone who can deal with this kind of thing. We’ll stay off campus for a few days. Once we get help, we’ll come back.”
When Chen Sheng heard that his senior knew someone who could help—
His eyes lit up instantly. He had been hesitant earlier, but not anymore.
On one hand, he didn’t want his senior to know how sick that thing was about him…
On the other hand, he desperately wanted to get rid of it and return to normal school life.
So Chen Sheng began packing as well.
“Then let’s go, quickly.”
Once they finished packing, the two of them left the school together.
Chen Sheng even texted Zhang Jun to explain the situation.
At the school gate, Chen Sheng and his senior stood with their luggage.
Chen Sheng couldn’t help but ask,
“Senior, where are we going?”
The senior replied,
“Let’s go to my place first. Once we get there, I’ll tell you something… I just hope you won’t get mad, Junior.”
Seeing his senior’s usual gentle expression now replaced by a serious and solemn look, Chen Sheng quickly nodded in earnest.
“Senior, no matter what it is—I won’t get mad.”
