Chapter 20 – Stay by My Side
Chen Sheng lay on the bed, looking up at the senior leaning over him.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he quickly said,
“Senior… you…”
“Shh.”
The senior pressed a finger to his lips.
“Don’t talk. Be good. I’ll take care of it.”
Chen Sheng felt the warmth of his senior’s fingertip on his lips.
He swallowed hard.
His mind went blank.
Why… why was this playing out so differently from what he’d imagined?
But before he could think any further—
His wrists were suddenly pinned down firmly.
The senior lowered himself—and kissed him.
Hot, intense breath mingled between them…
…[Fade to black. The unspeakable scene has been skipped—use your imagination.]
Chen Sheng lay wrapped tightly in the blanket on the bed.
His arm sticking out from beneath the blanket was covered in red, vivid marks.
And as the blanket slipped slightly—
More densely packed marks were revealed across his skin.
The depth and spread of those marks…
Said everything about the possessiveness and obsession behind them.
He’d been awake for quite some time.
It all felt like a dream…
Yet the aching soreness throughout his body constantly reminded him that he and his senior had already…
Hands trembling, he weakly opened his phone—
It was already evening.
Chen Sheng turned his head—and could see the senior lying beside him.
On the man’s waist were several prominent scratch marks.
He had left those.
Chen Sheng blushed furiously and buried himself deeper under the blanket.
The room lights were off, but the window was open.
Dim streetlight from outside poured in,
Casting a soft glow across the senior’s face.
Chen Sheng couldn’t help but stare.
Senior really was handsome…
He had just sighed with admiration—
When the phone beside him lit up and started ringing.
He quickly picked it up and muted it,
Afraid it would wake the senior.
The screen displayed an incoming video call.
From “I’m Always Watching You.”
Panic shot through Chen Sheng—he frantically tried to hang up.
But the call had already connected the moment the screen lit up.
His face appeared on the screen, pale and terrified in the faint glow.
On the other end of the video—it was pitch black.
Frightened, Chen Sheng kept pressing buttons, trying to exit or shut the phone off.
Nothing worked.
The phone was frozen.
Stuck on the call screen.
Then, after a few moments of darkness,
A blurred, close-up face suddenly filled the screen.
Startled, Chen Sheng nearly dropped the phone—
But what he saw…
Was the face of the senior lying right beside him.
From the angle of the camera, it was as if that thing was lying right next to his senior.
Facing him.
Chen Sheng jerked his head around.
But saw nothing beside his senior.
Quickly, he reached out and shook him.
His voice trembling, filled with urgency,
“Senior—wake up! Please wake up!”
After shaking him a few times—
The senior’s eyes opened.
He sat up, and upon seeing Chen Sheng’s expression, his face changed.
“Get out. It’s here.”
“But, Senior, I…”
“Just go!”
Seeing the seriousness in his expression and hearing the firmness in his voice,
Chen Sheng panicked and scrambled out of the room.
The moment he did—
BANG.
The door slammed shut behind him with force.
Chen Sheng pressed his hands against the door, heart racing with fear and worry.
He leaned against it, listening.
From inside, a commotion erupted…
Loud crashes—
Like things falling over,
Or something slamming into furniture.
But one thing was missing:
He didn’t hear the senior’s voice at all.
Chen Sheng’s worry reached its peak.
Frantic, he grabbed the doorknob and tried to force his way in.
But no matter what, he couldn’t open it…
“Senior! Senior!”
He called out.
No response.
Only more thundering crashes came from inside…
After what felt like an eternity—
Silence fell.
The noise stopped completely.
During that whole time, Chen Sheng had been throwing himself against the door.
Then, suddenly—
The door gave way.
Chen Sheng stumbled in.
What met his eyes was a scene of complete chaos.
The wardrobe, desk, bed—even the window—were all damaged.
By the window,
The senior sat slumped, face pale, covered in bl00d.
Chen Sheng only glanced once before his heart shattered. He rushed over.
He didn’t care that the floor was littered with broken glass and debris.
“Senior!”
He knelt beside him, not even knowing where to place his hands.
All he saw was bl00d.
Tears streamed down his face as he gently touched the senior’s cheek.
“Senior, you… you… we need to go to the hospital!”
Panicked, he tried to stand up and find his phone.
But the senior caught his hand.
“I’m fine… cough cough.”
He coughed up bl00d as he spoke.
“Sorry, Chen Sheng. I couldn’t kill it… but I did injure it badly.
It ran away. It won’t be back for a while.”
“Senior, let me help you to the living room first.”
All Chen Sheng cared about now was his senior’s condition.
He quickly helped him up and guided him out of the room.
Settled him onto the living room sofa.
“We need to go to the hospital right now.”
“No.” The senior grabbed his hand.
“Don’t worry. I’m okay. Just need a few days to rest. It looks worse than it is.”
Chen Sheng clearly didn’t believe him—he was drenched in bl00d.
But the senior wiped the bl00d from the corner of his mouth and said,
“Can you help me take off my shirt first?”
Though confused, Chen Sheng nodded and reached out with shaking hands.
After removing the shirt—
He saw only a few deep claw marks across the chest and sides.
Nothing else.
“The pants too.”
Chen Sheng had been checking the rest of his body for injuries—
When he heard that sentence.
And without thinking, still trembling, he undid the senior’s pants.
Once they were off—
The lower half showed only large areas of bruising, no open wounds.
While Chen Sheng was still staring,
The senior spoke again.
“See? I’m fine. No need for the hospital. I can treat these myself.”
“Then… I’ll get you clean clothes.”
Chen Sheng turned away, his face red.
Aside from the deep wounds,
There were also some lighter scratches.
Ones he had made…
He knew now wasn’t the time for such thoughts—
But whenever he saw the marks he left on his senior’s body,
He couldn’t stop thinking about what happened.
So he quickly got up to fetch clothes.
And thus didn’t notice the dark gleam in his senior’s eyes behind him…
The exact same look as that thing.
When Chen Sheng returned with the clothes—
He saw the senior already on his feet.
After taking the clothes and putting them on, he drank some water from the table.
Then turned to Chen Sheng and said,
“That thing isn’t dead yet. There’s a high chance it’ll come back. I don’t know when.
So from now on, you need to stay with me at all times. We tricked it. It’s furious.”
Chen Sheng felt a wave of fear wash over him.
“You mean… if it returns, it’ll try to kill me?”
The senior nodded.
“Don’t worry. I’m here. It’s weaker now. I can handle it. As long as you stay with me, it won’t have the chance or the guts to touch you.”
After he said that, his eyes landed softly on Chen Sheng.
“Still sore?”
Chen Sheng blinked.
When he realized what the senior meant—
His face instantly turned crimson.
“N-No… not anymore.”
