Chapter 21 – Let’s Be Together
After Chen Sheng finished speaking, he was so embarrassed that he couldn’t even look at the senior anymore.
Now that the creature was temporarily gone, did that mean he could return to school?
He hesitated, then asked,
“Senior, so… does that mean we can go back to school tomorrow…?”
But just as he said that, he remembered the deep claw marks on the senior’s body—those wounds looked painful and shocking.
The senior had refused to go to the hospital, saying he could handle it on his own.
Still, Chen Sheng couldn’t help but worry.
After all, the senior was hurt because of him—well, not entirely because of him, but still…
He added, “Senior, once your injuries heal, can we go back to school then? Are you really not going to the hospital? Those claw marks look really serious. If they’re not treated properly, they could get infected.”
“No need.”
The senior looked at him. Though his complexion wasn’t great, he honestly looked like someone who hadn’t been hurt at all.
If Chen Sheng hadn’t seen all that bl00d earlier…
And the deep claw marks on his body…
He would have never believed someone could lose so much bl00d and still look completely fine.
It felt surreal—like something straight out of a novel. A kind of supernatural healing.
Chen Sheng suddenly thought the senior was incredible.
Not only could he fight off that thing, but he also had the ability to recover quickly.
As he admired the senior’s strength,
He also felt a sense of envy.
If only he had the same power—then he wouldn’t have to live in constant fear.
If that thing ever showed up again, he could slam it to the ground, beat it into a pulp, make it beg for mercy—turn it into a foldable screen.
The thought made Chen Sheng smile foolishly.
For the first time since entering school—after all those days of constant tension and fear—his emotions were finally beginning to ease.
“What are you thinking about?”
Chen Sheng, still lost in his imagination, blurted out without thinking, “If I had abilities like yours, I’d beat that thing into a foldable screen, make it beg for mercy and harass me instead.”
After he spoke, he saw the senior staring at him—completely still, eyes fixed on him.
That gaze sent a chill down his spine.
He immediately snapped out of his fantasy.
Fully alert again, he asked nervously, “Senior… is something wrong? Is there something on my face?”
The senior’s expression grew serious again.
“Chen Sheng… I forgot to tell you something.”
“What is it?” Chen Sheng asked, confused.
Then he heard the senior say:
“That thing holds a grudge against both of us now. It’s weaker than before and no longer dares to attack me, but you… it’s a different story. It’s injured, but it’s likely hiding somewhere back in the school. Once you return, even in its current state, it could easily kill you. And you can’t always be by my side—we’re in different departments and years. So when I’m not around, it’ll take the chance to kill you.”
Chen Sheng’s face went pale.
He didn’t realize just how vulnerable and pitiful he looked in that moment.
His neck was covered in bright red marks, his whole demeanor fragile and helpless—face pale, eyes wide with fear.
He looked to the senior with pleading eyes,
Completely unaware of the flash of excitement and obsession that flickered in the senior’s gaze.
“S-Senior… then what should I do?”
The senior replied, “There is a way. But Chen Sheng… you might not be able to accept it.”
“What is it, Senior?”
Chen Sheng clung to the words like a lifeline, desperate for a solution.
The senior said slowly:
“Unless your body carries my scent—unless we make close contact, so I can leave my mark and my energy on you—only then will that thing no longer be able to touch you.”
When Chen Sheng heard this,
His reaction was exactly what the senior had anticipated.
Close contact. Leave a mark.
What kind of close contact?
Did he mean… the same kind of contact as before? That hadn’t exactly been an act.
Chen Sheng couldn’t stop himself from asking,
“W-What kind of close contact?”
The senior answered,
“The more intimate, the better. But at the very least, it has to be like a couple—kisses, hugs…Chen Sheng, can you accept that? If not, there’s no other way. Unless you can be with me 24/7— but obviously, that’s impossible.”
Kisses, hugs… like lovers.
Chen Sheng’s face turned red.
There really was no other way.
And he couldn’t stay with the senior 24 hours a day.
That thing wasn’t human. It could appear anywhere, anytime.
If the senior wasn’t by his side,
Chen Sheng would be nothing more than an ant—easily crushed.
He didn’t want to die.
But to interact with the senior like lovers…
Maybe what he felt for the senior wasn’t just admiration—but something deeper.
He’d realized this the moment he saw the senior slumped by the window, covered in bl00d.
That’s when he understood—admiration and affection were two very different things.
Now, if he had to stay close to the senior like that—
He was afraid he’d fall deeper and deeper…
And what if he couldn’t control his feelings anymore?
While Chen Sheng was lost in thought,
He suddenly heard the senior’s soft, regretful voice:
“I’m sorry, Chen Sheng. Even though it’s weaker now, it still moves freely around campus. It’s hard to catch. If I could, I’d get rid of it and spare you this choice.”
“N-No, don’t be sorry,” Chen Sheng quickly said, “This is all because of me. You’ve been helping me all along. Back then and even now, you’re the one finding solutions. If it weren’t for you, I’d still be trapped by that thing. I don’t feel burdened at all. It’s just… Senior, if we do this… would you…”
Chen Sheng didn’t know how to say it.
He really couldn’t get the words out.
He wanted to know what their relationship really was.
Right now, he liked the senior.
But what about from the senior’s point of view?
He didn’t have to help him like this.
Especially not in such an intimate way.
Yet the senior never seemed to dislike it—
Even when they were doing that before,
The senior hadn’t rejected him, hadn’t pushed him away.
If he’d truly disliked it,
He wouldn’t have gone through with it.
So, did that mean the senior… also…
As Chen Sheng pondered,
The senior looked at him seriously and said,
“I know what you’re thinking, Chen Sheng. I don’t hate being close to you. In fact… I really enjoy it. Chen Sheng—do you hate being close to me? Do you hate doing those things with me?”
Chen Sheng lowered his head, blushing furiously.
He thought the senior was so direct.
Unlike himself—who always fumbled with his words.
And yet—his heart was filled with joy and disbelief.
The senior said he liked being close to him.
Did that mean the senior also had feelings for him?
But Chen Sheng didn’t have the courage to say “I like you” out loud.
So, red-faced, he just muttered,
“N-No… I don’t hate it.”
“Not hating it means liking it.”
“So, Chen Sheng—you like me too, right?”
Chen Sheng had just whispered his answer when the senior’s words made his eyes widen in shock.
Because the senior said “too.”
“You like me too”—meaning, the senior liked him as well?!
Was this… a confession?
Had the senior realized he liked him all along?
Chen Sheng couldn’t even respond anymore.
His face turned beet red, and his first instinct—
Was to rush to the bathroom and splash water on his face,
Just to be sure he wasn’t dreaming.
He stood up in a fluster and mumbled something about needing to cool down—
But before he could take a step,
The senior grabbed his hand tightly.
“Chen Sheng, I like you. Let’s be together.”
