Chapter 24 – A Thunderstorm Night of Lightning and Darkness
After a moment’s hesitation, Chen Sheng accepted the senior’s shirt and put it on. It was clearly several sizes too big.
With the senior watching him, Chen Sheng pulled it over his head and discovered that just the T-shirt alone already covered past his hips…
But there were no pants in sight.
Then the senior said, “Mine are way too big—you wouldn’t be able to wear them. Just wear my shirt for now. I’ve already asked someone to buy clothes and have them delivered later.”
Chen Sheng found the explanation… oddly suspicious.
Still, he responded gratefully, “Thanks, Gu… Um, I wear XL, by the way.”
He always found it difficult to say “Gu Gu”—it just sounded way too intimate, too… something.
The senior looked him up and down, then smiled knowingly.
“I already said, didn’t I? I’ve seen every inch of you, Sheng Sheng. I can easily tell your size. Don’t worry, I’ve got everything arranged. Alright, let’s head out now. There’s another room—we should go get some sleep.”
Chen Sheng nodded, choosing to mentally block out the first half of what the senior said.
After leaving the bathroom, Chen Sheng still had a towel wrapped around his waist. It just felt far too exposed to be walking around pantsless…
Once they entered the other room, the senior immediately shut the door behind them.
Then, right in front of him, the senior tossed aside his bath towel—just like that.
Chen Sheng: ……
“Gu… aren’t you going to wear anything?”
“What’s the point of wearing clothes to sleep? Come on, Sheng Sheng. Don’t be shy. Let’s go to bed.”
As he spoke, the senior naturally pulled him into a hug, bringing him onto the bed—and casually yanked the towel off Chen Sheng as well, tossing it aside.
Finally, the annoying piece of cloth that was blocking the view was gone. Gu Zhen was in an excellent mood, unabashedly letting his gaze roam.
Chen Sheng immediately grabbed the blanket to cover himself. Just as he was about to lie down, an arm suddenly extended beneath him.
“Use me as a pillow, Sheng Sheng.”
Blushing furiously, Chen Sheng stiffened up and hesitantly rested his head on the senior’s arm.
Then came the next line: “My name has ‘Zhen’ (pillow) in it, after all. Sheng Sheng, that means you can use me as your pillow anytime, anywhere.”
Chen Sheng shivered all over.
Where on earth did the senior learn these cringe-worthy pickup lines?
But he was genuinely exhausted.
After closing his eyes, his tense body slowly relaxed under the weight of fatigue, and before long, Chen Sheng fell asleep.
Once Chen Sheng was sound asleep—Gu Zhen, who had been barely holding back, leaned over and pressed in close, brushing his face against Chen Sheng’s. He sniffed along his face and neck, then slowly downwards.
So good.
So good.
So good.
His Sheng Sheng. He wished he could devour him whole—consume every part of him from head to toe.
That way, he and Sheng Sheng would truly become one—bound for life, body and soul…
Gu Zhen’s thoughts turned darker.
Sheng Sheng was still just an ordinary human.
It looked like… it was time to move on to the next step.
—
Chen Sheng didn’t know how much time had passed, but suddenly he found himself back at the academy.
Where was the senior?
He looked around curiously—then, terror gripped him.
The massive campus was completely empty. Not a single soul in sight.
And just as he realized something was very wrong and tried to escape, he discovered—No matter what he did, he couldn’t get out.
In the blink of an eye, the entire campus transformed before him, like a scene from a horror film.
A bone-chilling, sinister cold filled the air, mixed with a nauseating, heavy stench of bl00d.
It was like stepping into hell—broken limbs and severed parts littered the entire school grounds.
Among the scattered, mangled remains…Chen Sheng spotted Zhang Jun at a glance. His limbs had been pulled apart and reassembled like a grotesque jigsaw puzzle.
One eyeball dangled from its socket, staring hollowly at him.
“You’re the one who got me killed, Chen Sheng.”
“Ah—!”
Chen Sheng jolted awake with a start.
His entire body was drenched in cold sweat. He stared at the ceiling above and the room around him.
It was just a dream.
A terrible, terrifying nightmare.
Trembling all over, Chen Sheng suddenly sensed a scorching, intense gaze.
He stiffly turned his head—And saw the senior looking at him, concern written all over his face.
“What’s wrong, Sheng Sheng? Did you have a nightmare?”
The moment he saw the senior’s face, Chen Sheng felt a wave of relief wash over him.
He nodded and asked, “What time is it? How long was I asleep?”
“It’s already eight in the evening. Sheng Sheng, are you hungry?”
As the senior spoke, he sat up. When the blanket slid down, it pulled the one on Chen Sheng’s side down too, exposing half of the senior’s body.
A sudden gust of cold air brushed against Chen Sheng’s legs, instantly sobering him up. He quickly pulled the blanket over himself again.
Now that he was fully awake, he could hear the sound of pouring rain and gusting wind outside the window.
The senior followed his gaze and said,
“There’s going to be a heavy storm tonight. Come on, Sheng Sheng, let’s eat something and go back to sleep, okay?”
But Chen Sheng was no longer sleepy—and had no intention of sleeping again.
He lifted the blanket, grabbed his towel from the side, and wrapped himself up before getting out of bed.
Once he stood, the senior had already dressed and handed him a set of underwear and pants.
“I had these delivered. Put them on so you don’t catch a cold.”
“Thanks… Gu… Gu.”
Hearing that, the senior walked over and leaned in.
Chen Sheng could feel the senior’s warm breath brushing against his face—ticklish and hot.
He instinctively shut his eyes.
Then came the senior’s soft chuckle.
“Sheng Sheng, you want me to kiss you that badly? But now’s not the time. Let’s eat first, and afterward, I’ll kiss you as much as you want. We’ll have plenty of time. If the rain gets heavier and the thunder scares you, you can come into my arms—we’ll do something else to distract you. That way, you won’t feel cold or scared anymore, alright?”
Chen Sheng’s eyelids twitched. He abruptly opened his eyes—only to meet the senior’s deep, dark gaze.
The corners of the senior’s lips were curved in a smile, and in the dim room, his tall frame cast a shadow over Chen Sheng.
For some reason, Chen Sheng felt an unexplainable twinge of fear in his heart…
Even though the senior’s tone was still just as…
As soon as Chen Sheng opened his eyes, the senior leaned in again, warm and damp breath sweeping across his face.
Once he realized what it was, Chen Sheng instantly covered his face and backed away in a panic.
He watched the senior lick his lips and say, “So sweet. I’m going to cook now, Sheng Sheng.”
Chen Sheng’s face was burning under his hands. He rubbed at his cheeks quickly.
Hearing that the senior could cook piqued his curiosity, and he followed him to the kitchen.
In the living room, all the broken furniture from before had disappeared—it must’ve been taken away by people the senior had called.
The open room across from them looked brand new, even the window had been reinstalled.
It looked exactly as it had before, as if that thing had never even been there.
The people the senior hired worked fast.
But… why didn’t he hear anything?
Was he just that exhausted and slept too deeply?
As Chen Sheng pondered this, a thunderous BOOM suddenly exploded outside, followed by a flash of lightning streaking across the window—bright one second, gone the next.
At the same time, the wind howled like ghosts wailing, battering against the windows. Heavy rain pounded the glass with loud bang bang sounds.
Chen Sheng’s heart pounded with every raindrop that struck the glass.
His eyelid twitched uncontrollably—he had a feeling something bad was going to happen.
Just the thought of it made him rush toward the kitchen where the senior was cooking.
Just as the senior had said—He really was afraid.
But it wasn’t the thunderstorm outside that scared him.

At the Academy
After receiving the message Chen Sheng sent him that day, Zhang Jun knew Chen Sheng had gone with that senior, Gu Zhen, and that this Gu Zhen supposedly had a way to deal with that thing.
But ever since, Chen Sheng hadn’t sent another message.
That made Zhang Jun grow anxious again.
Now, listening to the pounding rain, the flashes of lightning, and the rumbling thunder outside…
He felt uneasy—though he didn’t know why.
He walked quickly to the window and was just about to draw the curtains—When a flash of lightning revealed a twisted black shadow on the glass.
The next moment, the lightning vanished—and so did the shadow, like an illusion.
Zhang Jun’s face went pale with shock. He was certain he hadn’t imagined that shadow.
Terrified, he yanked the curtains shut in a panic.
At that exact moment,
The lights in the dorm flickered a few times, then crackled with a loud buzzing sound—And went out.
The dorm room was instantly swallowed in total darkness…
