Chapter 27: Returning to School
After crying his heart out in Senior Gu’s arms, Chen Sheng finally calmed down.
He felt incredibly embarrassed about losing control like that. After wiping away his tears, he sat up from the senior’s embrace.
His ankle was still injured, and he tried to get up from the floor, but the moment he grabbed onto the senior’s shirt for support, the senior picked him up by the waist and laid him on the bed.
“Shengsheng-xuedi, your ankle is hurt. Be good, don’t move. I’ll go get some things to bandage it.”
Hearing this, Chen Sheng glanced at his ankle. The wound was deep, exposing flesh and even a glimpse of white bone beneath the torn skin…
He only took one look before his scalp tingled and a wave of nausea and pain hit him.
He watched as the senior left the room, returning shortly with a kit in hand.
“Shengsheng-xuedi, tell me if it hurts, okay?”
As the senior spoke, he picked up tweezers and other tools and began cleaning and disinfecting the wound.
The pain was so intense that Chen Sheng’s vision darkened, but he endured it. Sweat poured from his forehead and soaked his back. His hands clutched the bedsheet tightly until finally, after his ankle was securely wrapped, he was able to catch his breath.
“Senior…” His face was pale, streaked with dried tears.
He looked at the senior’s bruised and bloodied face—injuries caused by his own frightened kicks. Guilt surged in his heart.
“I’m sorry, Senior. I didn’t know it was you. I thought it was that… thing.”
“It’s okay.” The senior tidied up the supplies, his tone equally apologetic. “It’s my fault. I forgot to tell you—we need to make physical contact every few hours so I can leave my scent and power on you. I didn’t get a chance to do that, and that thing found us again.”
Hearing his apology, Chen Sheng quickly responded, “No, it’s not your fault. If it weren’t for you, I would’ve been killed by that thing last night.”
The senior then said, “Let me take a shower first. After that, I’ll leave my scent and power on you, and then it won’t dare to come again.”
Chen Sheng looked out the window. It was still raining, the night pitch-black. Fear tightened his throat.
“Se… Senior, can I come with you?”
Though frightened, Chen Sheng found it hard to say so directly.
“But your ankle is hurt—you can’t get it wet.”
“I… I’ll just use a towel to wipe myself. I’m covered in dirt and sweat. It’s really uncomfortable…”
Before he could finish, the senior had already scooped him up, causing Chen Sheng’s face to flush crimson.
After being carried into the bathroom, the senior immediately undressed. Chen Sheng hurriedly turned his head away, and soon after, the sound of running water filled the room.
“I’ll wash first, then help you clean up.”
“Okay…”
Chen Sheng was placed on the sink counter, unsure why the senior chose that spot.
He sat there stiffly, not daring to move an inch.
A while later, he heard the senior’s footsteps approaching. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw him holding a steaming towel.
The senior was now wrapped in a bath towel. “Shengsheng-xuedi, I’ll wipe your body now.”
Chen Sheng wanted to say he could do it himself.
But before he could speak, the senior had already undressed him. The cool air touched his bare skin, and he shivered.
Then came the warmth of the damp towel—the senior was carefully wiping him down.
Each stroke sent a jolt through Chen Sheng, his skin reddening wherever the towel passed.
He didn’t know how much time passed—it felt endlessly slow.
Once the senior finished, he carried Chen Sheng to the bedroom—the same one that had been destroyed but was now miraculously restored.
“Shengsheng-xuedi, the other room’s sheets are dirty. Let’s sleep here tonight.”
Chen Sheng nodded and was gently placed on the bed.
The soft bedding made him sleepy.
But just as he was drifting off, he felt the bed sink beside him—the senior had lain down next to him.
A large hand pulled him close.
“Shengsheng-xuedi, don’t sleep yet. We need to have some intimate contact.”
Chen Sheng opened his eyes slightly and met the senior’s dark gaze. He shrank back instinctively.
The senior tilted his chin up, and then came a scorching kiss—so fierce and forceful it stole all his breath.
He couldn’t retreat. His neck was held firmly.
In that moment, Chen Sheng felt like the senior had completely taken control of his body. All he could do was breathe heavily, warmth spilling from his lips.
With his chin held and lips sealed, Chen Sheng was soon gasping for air, his eyes brimming with tears.
“Sen…”
He had just let out a sound when another deep kiss silenced him.
His body began to burn, going soft and weak as if melting into the bed.
The kiss felt like it was devouring him whole.
When the senior finally let go, Chen Sheng’s gaze was unfocused, his breathing ragged. His heart thudded wildly in his chest, threatening to burst out.
Tears still clung to the corners of his eyes, his face flushed red.
The senior looked at him with dark, intense eyes.
Chen Sheng instinctively trembled under his gaze. The senior leaned in close to his neck and murmured, “Shengsheng-xuedi, the mark has faded. That won’t do—it’ll attract that thing again.”
“Then… what should I do?”
There was no reply.
Instead, he felt a sharp pain at his neck—something wet and biting.
When the senior finally pulled back, he smiled again. “That’s better. Shengsheng-xuedi, go to sleep. Good night.”
“…Good night.”
As soon as he said it, Chen Sheng’s eyelids grew heavier, his vision fading into darkness. He fell asleep.
…
Morning
When Chen Sheng opened his eyes, he didn’t see the senior.
He pushed himself up slowly. Though his ankle was still injured, he could walk, albeit slowly and with difficulty.
Leaning against the wall, he left the room. On the living room wall, he saw several deep claw marks.
Seeing them reminded him of the sharp claws from the night before, and he shivered involuntarily.
Just then, the senior came out of the kitchen carrying freshly made porridge and set it on the table.
When he saw Chen Sheng, his expression turned anxious and worried. He hurried over.
“Shengsheng-xuedi, why did you come out by yourself?” he asked, supporting him gently.
He helped Chen Sheng to the table. Looking at the steaming, fragrant porridge, Chen Sheng swallowed and said, “Senior, I… I want to return to school today. I promised my friend.”
The senior asked, “But your ankle isn’t healed yet. Are you sure?”
Chen Sheng looked at his tightly wrapped ankle and nodded. “Yes. I’m sure.”
“In that case, I’ll go back with you. Let’s eat the porridge first, then we’ll head back together, okay?”
Chen Sheng nodded and picked up his chopsticks to eat.
After breakfast, the senior helped him to the sofa.
“Shengsheng-xuedi, you just sit here. I’ll go pack up.”
“Thank you, Senior.”
As the senior entered the bedroom, Chen Sheng took out his phone and messaged Zhang Jun, telling him everything that happened, including the injury to his ankle.
Zhang Jun replied quickly:
Zhang Jun: Is your ankle seriously hurt? Do you need to go to the hospital? Never mind—come back to the dorm first, I’ll take you. Also… didn’t that Senior Gu Zhen take you to the hospital?
Chen Sheng thought about the rain and how late it was last night. After the senior bandaged him, the pain had lessened—he barely felt it now.
He didn’t want to trouble the senior further, so he didn’t think it was necessary.
After explaining this to Zhang Jun, he received another message:
Zhang Jun: Chen Sheng, I feel like he doesn’t really care about you. You’re injured and he didn’t even take you to the hospital, and yet you’re defending him? Are you seriously into that Senior Gu Zhen?
Chen Sheng felt his heart skip a beat at those words. He’d planned to prepare before telling Zhang Jun—but it seemed Zhang Jun had already guessed.
He glanced toward the bedroom, then quickly typed a reply:
Chen Sheng: Let me get back to school first. I’ll explain everything to you then.
Zhang Jun’s reply came immediately:
Zhang Jun: You’d better hurry up then. I can’t wait to see you, Chen Sheng.
Just as Chen Sheng was puzzling over this odd message, the senior came out of the bedroom carrying their things.
