Chapter 48 – Sheng Sheng Is Amazing
Although the man looked like he was flirting around with people every day, in truth, those he was flirting with weren’t even human.
After all, high-level hunters often appear in the guise of prey.
Zhang Jun hadn’t been observing closely enough before, which was why he was now clinging to a window outside someone’s house.
He had watched the man lead a woman into the house, so he was now crouched outside the window. Fortunately, though the window was closed, he could still peek inside through a gap in the curtain.
And then—he saw that woman—or rather, that female ghost.
Not long after entering the house, her once-beautiful face twisted into something horrifying. The moment she revealed her true face—Zhang Jun nearly choked on his own breath and almost fell off the windowsill. He plastered himself tightly against the glass, not even daring to breathe, terrified that both the man and the ghost would notice him.
Luckily, the ghost didn’t get far before the man instantly took her down.
Watching with his own eyes as the man eliminated the ghost, Zhang Jun was thrilled—he was sure now that this was the person he had been searching for.
Just as he was rejoicing, he looked up and found himself staring directly into a very handsome face.
The man was somehow already right by the window, staring straight at him.
Zhang Jun had no way to retreat now. He had finally found the guy and could only keep clinging there like some creepy voyeur—but at least his facial expression wasn’t perverted.
He forced a brilliant smile and said cheerfully, “Hehe, hey there! The moon’s beautiful tonight, isn’t it? I just happened to be passing by—how about we get to know each other? I’ll go first—my name’s Zhang Jun.
And you, handsome?”
Zhang Jun’s smile was practically frozen on his face when the man opened the window and yanked him inside without warning.
Zhang Jun was caught completely off guard and dragged into the room.
Now that he was inside, he could see that the room was truly luxurious. When he had been outside, the curtains had blocked most of his view.
This place was huge.
From his days of tailing the man, Zhang Jun already knew he had two properties—one that he lived in, and this one… this place was specifically used to lure and kill ghosts.
Thinking about how many ghosts had met their end here sent a chill running down Zhang Jun’s spine. He shivered slightly.
The man let go of him after pulling him inside and went to sit on the bed. His shirt was half unbuttoned, legs crossed casually, and his gaze seductive, like a bewitching demon staring him down.
Zhang Jun’s eyelid twitched, and his mouth spasmed slightly.
Then he looked again—the man’s face was completely expressionless.
What the hell… So was that just my imagination?
Or is this some kind of ability? Is that how he lures ghosts in—by seducing them like this?
But he wasn’t one of those things! And besides, he had zero interest in men—he just happened to appreciate a good-looking face, that’s all.
Now that he had found the man, it was time to get down to business.
“I won’t beat around the bush,” Zhang Jun said seriously. “I need your help. My friend is being tormented by something very powerful, and I’ve run out of options. That’s why I came to find you.”
He finished speaking and waited anxiously for the man’s response.
After all, it wasn’t like he could expect help for free. If it was money, he could probably find a way to get some—but anything beyond that, he wasn’t so sure.
His heart was pounding with nerves when the man finally said,
“Why should I help you?”
Zhang Jun: “…”
I knew it.
The man was so powerful. Trying to come up with a reason he should help was harder than climbing to the heavens. Zhang Jun didn’t know him well enough to appeal to any of his interests.
He only knew that this guy hunted ghosts—and even after tailing him for days, the only consistent trait he had observed was that the man liked luring ghosts into this house and then killing them.
No other habits or preferences stood out.
Zhang Jun racked his brain. This guy is so strong… He probably knew I was tailing him the whole time. But why didn’t he call me out right away?
Could it be… he actually likes being stalked? Maybe he’s into that kind of creepy stuff?
So… if I act like a creep—just like the thing haunting Chen Sheng—then maybe he’ll accept me?
With that bizarre train of thought, Zhang Jun immediately said,
“Well… actually, that wasn’t my real reason for being here. The truth is… I’ve been secretly watching you for a long time. I’ve fallen in love with you. I just can’t help myself…”
He almost gagged just from saying it—but he still kept one eye on the man’s reaction.
The man actually looked intrigued.
He raised an eyebrow with a teasing look and asked,
“So… you’re saying… you like me?”
Zhang Jun almost blacked out, but he had no choice now. He nodded and replied,
“Yes. I really, really like you. So much that I can’t sleep unless I see you each day. That’s why I was peeking in through your window…”
Before he could even finish his sentence, the man grabbed him and shoved him onto the bed.
“If you like me that much,” the man said casually, “then let’s sleep together. I’m Shen Yu.”
Zhang Jun: “…”
He lay there stiffly, completely frozen, being used as a body pillow by a man named Shen Yu. Why is this guy so…
He didn’t dare move—afraid of giving himself away. His skin crawled with goosebumps.
This was the first time he had ever been this physically close with another man. Not even with Chen Sheng had things been this intimate.
Speaking of Chen Sheng… he suddenly wondered how his friend was doing. He was probably being tricked by that thing right about now…
Sigh…
—
At that exact moment, the very Chen Sheng that Zhang Jun was worrying about was lying in his senior’s arms, being held close.
Chen Sheng didn’t need sleep—but his senior did.
He waited for his senior to fall asleep, intending to quietly slip away from his embrace.
As for the academy, it was as if the whole place had vanished into thin air. Chen Sheng had returned there once, only to find that everything was back to normal. Classes had resumed, and it was like nothing had ever happened. Everything was eerily peaceful.
Chen Sheng was still worried that the creature might come back, but after scanning the entire area, he didn’t sense any sign of it near the academy.
But… there was no way it had simply left.
For him now, there was no such thing as day or night. Time either passed quickly or dragged slowly. During the day, his senior could accompany him, but at night, he was all alone.
Whenever he thought about how his senior said they’d never be apart again, Chen Sheng would stay by the bedside, just watching over him.
With him here, nothing bad would happen.
But he didn’t know… he had underestimated Gu Zhen, who—even when nothing was happening—would find something to stir up or fabricate a sense of danger.
Just when Chen Sheng thought the night would pass peacefully, he suddenly felt a terrifying aura—but he couldn’t locate its source.
And then—just as he turned his head—a sharp claw shot out from beneath the bed, scraping the wooden boards as it emerged.
Chen Sheng whipped around just in time to see the claw aiming straight for his senior—and lunged without hesitation.
The moment he pounced, the claw vanished. But he couldn’t stop in time—and crashed directly onto his senior, locking eyes with him as the man suddenly awoke.
Chen Sheng opened his mouth, unsure what to say. He wanted to explain—but his senior interrupted him.
“Sheng Sheng… are you feeling needy again? Well, now that your body can handle it, you can go as long as you want…”
As that familiar hand reached up to touch him, Chen Sheng quickly said,
“No, Senior—it’s that thing again—”
But before he could finish, he was flipped over and pressed down.
“Sheng Sheng, you’re amazing. Since you managed to drive that thing off again, I should really reward you properly, shouldn’t I?”
