Scarred Hearts — A Girls' Love Tale - Chapter 29
“Chengzi said she won’t die, so she won’t die. You can rest easy.” Ying Sha kept reassuring Luo Qinghan over and over. Luo Qinghan sat in the operating room, staring blankly, her whole-body stiff, not even shifting her posture.
How could she be okay? So much bl00d spilled, soaking the entire floor. The smell of bl00d still seemed to linger in her nose. Luo Qinghan thought with a blank expression. If Shuang’er had an accident, what meaning would her own life have?
“If Shuangfei really has something wrong, she wouldn’t want you to be like this either.” Yan Shaoqiu cautiously approached and said. He meant well, hoping Luo Qinghan would relax and not be so anxious. Yan Shuangfei wouldn’t be in danger.
But Luo Qinghan suddenly stood up, her voice trembling, “Something wrong? How could she have something wrong! The moment I hear she’s dead, I’ll go down to be with her. How dare she die? Who gave her the guts!” This girl always needed her by her side since childhood, needing her care in everything. If she went to hell, she surely wouldn’t be at peace. She didn’t know how to take care of herself; if she didn’t go with her, she’d be miserable.
Luo Qinghan’s loss of control shattered the mask she had been wearing so well. The indifferent image she usually showed collapsed completely over Yan Shuangfei’s situation.
“Chengzi!”
The operating room door opened, and Ying Sha jumped over to the doctor and hugged her tightly. “Thank you for your hard work!”
The doctor pushed Ying Sha away with a look of annoyance. Luo Qinghan kept blinking rapidly, trying to hold back tears. “She’s not seriously hurt. But the finger can’t be reattached.” The doctor nodded to Luo Qinghan. “And the head injury is a bit complicated. She seems to have been hit with a blunt object, causing bleeding inside the skull, a concussion, skull fractures, and multiple scalp wounds. I’ve already cut her hair.”
“Cut her hair…?” Luo Qinghan hadn’t processed this yet.
“Yes, she must have had long hair for a long time, so it’s a pity to cut it off,” the doctor said with a tone of regret, unknowingly shifting the focus to the hair.
“She only lost her hair and a finger,” Luo Qinghan grabbed the doctor’s white coat tightly, her fingers turning white at the joints. Her excited tone sounded as if her lover had become a slight cripple, and having her hair cut off was a good thing. “Not dead…” Luo Qinghan smiled foolishly and turned, murmuring repeatedly, “Not dead is good… good…” Not dead meant hope—she could make it up to her, take care of her properly.
Luo Qinghan’s left ring finger wore a shining diamond ring, sparkling. Her hand kept stroking the ring. She anxiously asked the doctor, “When can I see her?”
“After this observation period. Don’t worry, it won’t be long,” the doctor said kindly but then frowned and said regretfully, “I forgot to tell you some bad news…”
“What?” Luo Qinghan’s expression froze, and she asked reflexively.
“The severe impact may cause temporary memory loss. How long it lasts, no one knows. You should prepare yourself.” The doctor looked at Luo Qinghan with sympathy. Fortunately, when she tortured Ying Sha, she didn’t hit her head with a hammer—otherwise, Ying Sha wouldn’t be dead but a vegetable. The doctor didn’t have the patience to wait for Ying Sha to wake up; she considered herself like a flower growing on the edge, bound to spread beyond the wall sooner or later. Besides, there were plenty waiting outside the wall; why hang herself on one tree?
The doctor returned to seriously discuss this view with Ying Sha, who got scared and hugged the doctor tightly, shouting, “I’m not bad! You just don’t want to spend your life with me!”
“Go away,” the doctor said but could she really be that cold? She believed love has an expiration date; only habits are hard to break. Being with Ying Sha was already a habit, right? If she were in Luo Qinghan’s situation, she would hold on to that obsession, keeping a place for her heart to rest.
Ying Sha wasn’t satisfied and hugged the doctor, resting her chin on her shoulder. The doctor didn’t push her away and took the chance to undo Ying Sha’s bra clasp smoothly. Knowing all of Ying Sha’s sensitive spots made teasing her easy.
Ying Sha suddenly felt her breath catch, her eyes growing hazy, softly calling the doctor’s name. The doctor was stirred by her voice and went straight to the point. “If you want it, you have to be good…” The doctor bit Ying Sha’s soft ear and said.
“Mm…”
Luo Qinghan sat beside Yan Shuangfei’s hospital bed, worry written all over her face as she looked at her. Yan Shuangfei was still unconscious. The doctor said since she had passed the danger period, there wouldn’t be major problems. But Luo Qinghan couldn’t stop her wild thoughts.
The whole ward was quiet except for the steady beeping of the machines. Luo Qinghan patiently stared at Yan Shuangfei, feeling like she might wake up at any moment, smile like usual, kiss her happily, then lie stubbornly in bed, forcing Luo Qinghan to pull the covers off her, shivering as she snuggled into her arms before finally getting up.
So much has happened; Shuang’er must be exhausted. Luo Qinghan carefully examined the back of Yan Shuangfei’s hand hooked up to the IV. The pale skin showed bulging veins, and bruises spread around the needle site. Being tired, sleeping longer was normal.
It had been more than a day and night. Luo Qinghan was as solid as iron, guarding Yan Shuangfei’s bedside, waiting for her to wake up. If she woke up without seeing her, she’d surely throw a tantrum again. Luo Qinghan smiled softly and carefully rested her head on the corner of the bed, breathing in sync with Yan Shuangfei’s rhythm.
Life was even more dramatic than a soap opera, Luo Qinghan thought. What would it be like if Yan Shuangfei woke up with memory loss? She’d probably be a lot more obedient. If that’s the case, she might as well slowly train her.
Luo Qinghan didn’t know when she fell asleep, probably exhausted, dozing off by Yan Shuangfei’s bedside. But when she woke and opened her eyes, Yan Shuangfei’s face was right in front of her, those clear curious eyes studying her, breathing softly on her face.
Luo Qinghan’s reaction was to jerk her head up, completely awake now. She stared at Yan Shuangfei for a moment, then let out a sharp scream, stepping back several meters, pointing at her, “When, when, when did you wake up?!”
Yan Shuangfei leaned against the bed’s headboard, startled by Luo Qinghan’s reaction. Her eyes were blurry and filled with grievance as she whispered, “You were sleeping by my bed. I just wanted to see what you looked like.”
Calm down, calm down!
Luo Qinghan calmed the storm inside and sat beside Yan Shuangfei, facing her directly. She asked, “So… do you know who I am?”
“No,” Yan Shuangfei answered honestly. “So it’s okay if I look at you again.” Her cloudy eyes met Luo Qinghan’s searching gaze. She reached down to pull the blanket, but Luo Qinghan gently held her wrist and said, “Then remember this now—I’m your family. From now on, I’ll take care of you.”
“Family?” Yan Shuangfei repeated, her gaze fixed on Luo Qinghan.
“Yes, family.” Luo Qinghan kissed Yan Shuangfei’s forehead.
