Scarred Hearts — A Girls' Love Tale - Chapter 41
“Orange.” Ying Sha lay quietly on the bed. The doctor sat beside her, a blanket covering both of them. He was flipping through a book but stopped when he heard Ying Sha call him, looking down at her and gently stroking her hair.
“Kuai Shou still has a child,” Ying Sha said softly, letting the doctor stroke her hair obediently. “When I saw that child, I was shaken.”
“I understand.” The doctor put the book down on the bedside table and dimmed the lamp. Then he lay down next to Ying Sha, turning to pull her curled-up body into his arms.
“Mmm…” Ying Sha hummed in contentment, curling closer. “Orange, did you know? Kuai Shou and I were trained together. She’s several years older and always took care of me. She even personally taught me her knife skills, showing me step by step. We were allies.”
Ying Sha’s voice grew quiet and slow, as if telling someone else’s story, her tone calm and detached, like a bystander.
“I never thought I’d end up fighting against them. When the selection ended, I truly believed that situation would never happen again because we all passed. We would be comrades, partners.” Ying Sha fell into memories, a bitter smile on her lips. “Look at me — brainwashed training didn’t destroy my hope or belief in feelings. Who’d have guessed that because I performed too well, climbing out of hell step by step…” She spoke softly, and the doctor could feel her trembling.
“Jealousy, or incitement. The top brass thought some conflict would keep the organization alive.” Ying Sha sighed. “So came Operation Number Two. That’s why I’m a killer who can’t bring herself to kill. I should have stopped all this.”
Filled with guilt, regret, and frustration, Ying Sha’s attitude never changed when she talked about this. Fear and anxiety haunted her — she lost her lover’s entire family because of her misjudgment and pride.
“I told you, I don’t blame you,” the doctor said calmly but firmly. “Without hell, there’ll always be another one. Your family’s power grew too fast, attracting attention. They were too flashy, so their downfall was inevitable.” He tightened his hold on her, as if afraid she might leave him too. He smiled bitterly. “You should hate me for what I did — leaving you crippled, not clearing up the truth, and treating you like this.” His soft voice sharply contrasted with his usual cold and harsh tone.
Ying Sha quickly turned to meet the doctor’s deep gaze and said, “I don’t blame you.”
“So don’t feel guilty or sorry for me. This isn’t your fault.” The doctor cupped her head, whispering close to her ear, “If you’re tired, then don’t seek revenge anymore.”
Tears clouded Ying Sha’s eyes, making them shine under the light. But her voice was resolute as she shook her head. “I swore long ago — I’ll take your revenge. None of those old loose ends will escape.”
“Okay. I understand.” The doctor was silent for a moment, then whispered, pulling her even closer. Ying Sha felt comforted, burying her head into his tall, soft chest. This time, he didn’t tease her for taking advantage of him. Instead, he wanted to hold her even tighter.
The warmth from his words made Ying Sha’s ears flush bright red. She said nothing, only softly, “Just hold me like this, Orange.”
Luo Qinghan believed making money was very important—it let her and Yan Shuangfei live their lives more freely.
Those who complained every day that money had made their lives shallow had never experienced true poverty. It’s easy for the rich to pity the poor in their own way, but how many would truly give up their status and money’s security? Complaining about money’s uselessness has long become a luxury for those at the top.
Luo Qinghan was already prepared to confront the Han family. She quickly ordered everyone in the Luo Corporation to stay alert, ready for a fierce battle at any moment. She feared a sudden attack from the Han family.
The Yan family quietly sent many reinforcements. Yan Huaiyuan still said nothing, only ordering Yan Shaoqiu to bring the men to Luo Qinghan. Looking at their top-notch gear, Luo Qinghan realized only the Yan family, controlling the arms market for so long, could afford such expensive equipment without selling it for profit.
That old man truly cared about his granddaughter. Luo Qinghan thought. The internal chaos in the Yan family had long been suppressed by Yan Shuangfei’s iron fist. Setting aside prejudice and hatred, Yan Huaiyuan really spoiled and indulged Yan Shuangfei in every way.
Strangely though, aside from the initial signs of movement in the Han family, no new news came. It was as if the Han family had gone silent, not making a single move. Luo Qinghan paced in her office, confused.
The more it dragged on, the more anxious she felt. This situation was beyond her control now. She had no clue what the enemy was up to, and being kept in the dark made her uneasy. Luo Qinghan could only worry but feel helpless.
She pulled out her phone, tapped a name, and held it to her ear, waiting quietly for the call to connect.
“Hello, is this Shen Jiayan?” Luo Qinghan whispered.
“You actually called me during work hours!” Shen Jiayan exclaimed loudly, surprised without hiding it. “Speak! When do you want to go shopping? I’m free this weekend.”
After Yan Shuangfei killed the former head of the Shen family, she unleashed incredible power. Years of lying low were just waiting for the perfect chance, and now that it came, she wouldn’t let it slip away.
“You’re already head of your family and still not serious,” Luo Qinghan said, feeling a little better. “Come by when you’re free. I have something to discuss.”
“Okay.” Without hesitation, Shen Jiayan agreed quickly. She wasn’t someone who ignored the situation.
