Scarred Hearts — A Girls' Love Tale - Chapter 52
As soon as the elevator doors opened, the two of them rushed out. Ying Sha’s injury on her back was serious, and as they moved, bl00d dripped heavily onto the ground. Yan Shuangfei grabbed her and ran, guessing that someone would arrive soon.
The basement level B1 was the Han family’s underground parking lot. Cars of all sizes were parked inside. Yan Shuangfei suddenly felt nervous and got disoriented. Just as she stood upright to look around for a way out, a black car stopped right in front of them. Yan Shuangfei immediately raised her gun, aiming at the car door, ready to shoot if there was any sudden movement.
“Wait,” Ying Sha gasped. She was barely holding on to consciousness, her back injury wasn’t fatal but enough to cause her great pain. She had lost a lot of bl00d, making her face pale and her lips white as she struggled to speak. She reached out and gently pressed down on Yan Shuangfei’s raised gun, shaking her head with a slight, relieved smile.
“Bl00d Blade.” Ying Sha’s body trembled as Yan Shuangfei supported her. She could feel Ying Sha shaking continuously. While they were talking, the car door opened, and a lean man hurried over. Seeing Ying Sha, he quickly helped Yan Shuangfei support her.
Yan Shuangfei glanced curiously at the man. He was short, with ordinary features. Her gaze dropped to his waist, where she saw a sheathed knife. After Yan Shuangfei and Bl00d Blade helped Ying Sha into the car, Bl00d Blade silently pointed to a medical kit on the back seat. When Yan Shuangfei acknowledged she saw it, he opened the front door and started the car. Yan Shuangfei noticed the knife’s sheath was wrapped in leather, but the handle showed exquisite, intricate engravings.
Definitely a good blade, Yan Shuangfei thought. She could almost sense the bloody aura hidden beneath its covering.
“So Bl00d Blade is Japanese,” Yan Shuangfei said to Ying Sha, taking off the bl00d-soaked jacket. Ying Sha said nothing but grimaced slightly, clearly wincing from the pain.
“Can you do this?” Ying Sha looked at Yan Shuangfei trembling with tweezers but hesitating to act, saying helplessly.
“This is my first time treating someone’s injury. It’s natural to be nervous,” Yan Shuangfei defended herself. “If you want a professional, go home and find your expert. For now, we’ll make do.”
Before Ying Sha could reply, the car suddenly jolted violently. Yan Shuangfei turned her head to look outside—sure enough, Han family members were blocking their way.
“It’s okay. The car is bulletproof,” Bl00d Blade explained, as if Yan Shuangfei didn’t know.
“Yeah, I can see that,” Yan Shuangfei said, “but bulletproof doesn’t mean impact-proof. If they crash the car hard enough or try to flip it, that would be bad.” She moved forward and saw the Han family had already set up roadblocks toward the exit.
“How’s your driving?” Yan Shuangfei asked Bl00d Blade uncertainly. Bl00d Blade stomped the accelerator, running over a gunman who couldn’t dodge in time.
“Not bad,” Bl00d Blade replied. Yan Shuangfei was a bit surprised; his Chinese was very good, and she couldn’t detect any accent.
“He’s mixed-race,” Ying Sha said to Yan Shuangfei. Someone like her, who was skilled at reading people, could tell from Yan Shuangfei’s expression what she was thinking.
These two women—one fighting to survive in a tight spot, constantly getting stronger to protect herself and her loved ones; the other born into comfort but burdened by power struggles and bloodshed.
“No wonder,” Yan Shuangfei said, suddenly understanding. Then she went back to worrying about Ying Sha’s wound. Ying Sha refused to let her treat it further and instead took out some gauze to roughly bandage her palm herself. The moment the gauze touched her hand, it immediately soaked red. Ying Sha’s body twitched from the pain but bit her lip, refusing to show any weakness. It seemed to have become a habit—to swallow the pain alone.
“I won’t die,” Ying Sha said after a wave of intense pain passed, her face easing, no longer twisted in agony. She sat sideways on the car seat, casually telling Yan Shuangfei, then looked out at the situation outside.
“Bl00d Blade can handle this,” Ying Sha said confidently. Then she quieted down, listening carefully to the information Yan Shuangfei gathered. After hearing it, her expression remained calm, showing no emotion.
“How much of it is true?” Ying Sha asked softly. “From what that guy said, I’m afraid he didn’t tell you the whole truth—or didn’t explain it clearly.”
Yan Shuangfei nodded in agreement. “I didn’t have time to ask more. He didn’t seem like a liar. I injected him with a dose of scopolamine. Though it’s not very strong, it didn’t put him unconscious. But it’s not easy for him to lie to me either.” She recalled the interrogation at the Han family’s place. “Unless…”
“Unless he only told part of the truth,” Ying Sha interrupted sharply. “People like that are cunning. If he can dodge your questions like this, he’s definitely not simple.”
“This world is full of hidden talents,” Yan Shuangfei sighed, feeling the car twist sharply.
“We’re out now,” Ying Sha said calmly, turning to watch the Han family building getting farther away.
The car was driving on the road. Yan Shuangfei opened the window and took a deep breath. The fresh air from outside diluted the strong bl00d smell inside the car.
“So… should we believe it?” Yan Shuangfei rubbed her temples, struggling to stay awake even though she was exhausted. She forced herself not to sleep until she saw Luo Qinghan.
“Of course, it’s worth a risky try,” Ying Sha said lightly. “You don’t have any other choice now. If one day he succeeds and brings outside forces to attack, don’t die looking pathetic.”
“That’s true,” Yan Shuangfei nodded.
Near the Luo family’s place, Ying Sha started to get restless, fidgeting in her seat, anxiously rubbing her hair.
When the Bl00d Blade’s car stopped, Yan Shuangfei jumped out immediately. The doctor and Luo Qinghan were already waiting at the door. Yan Shuangfei happily threw herself into Luo Qinghan’s arms, rubbing against her like they hadn’t seen each other in years.
Ying Sha, covered in bl00d, walked out slowly and timidly. The doctor’s face darkened immediately upon seeing her. He pressed his lips tight and said nothing. Ying Sha nervously tugged his hand. The doctor’s eyes reddened, then he raised his hand and slapped Ying Sha’s face.
