Scumbag A's Plan to Save the Heroine - Chapter 2
Doctor Mu awkwardly lowered his stethoscope.
Steady heartbeat, stable pulse.
If this weren’t his old classmate’s child, he would have kicked her out of the hospital room immediately.
Why come to the hospital if you’re not sick?
A complete waste of medical resources.
Doctor Mu forced a smile. “Zhi Qiu, what’s wrong? Why are you crying all of a sudden?”
“Nothing, just a nightmare,” Zhi Qiu replied, her voice still hoarse as she forced a smile. “Don’t worry, Uncle Mu. I’m fine.”
After Ruan Ye fell into the sea, Zhi Qiu had jumped in after her.
Then, everything went blank. They must have drowned together in those waters.
Zhi Qiu tilted her head back, fighting to hold back her tears.
How could I have been so foolish?
How could I have blindly followed the so-called plot, ignoring genuine human emotions? Why did it take me so long to realize my own feelings?
And Ruan Ye’s strange behavior.
In the original story, this character’s reputation was terrible, constantly plagued by rumors and gossip.
Outside the hospital room, the nurses’ gossip grew louder, every word reaching Zhi Qiu’s ears.
“That’s right, the patient in this room is the A from Northampton Private School. I heard she’s dated over a dozen Omegas, toyed with their feelings, and always dumped them right when they loved her the most. With such a rotten character, I can’t believe so many people still flock to her. It’s just because she has some dirty money!”
“Sigh, these Omegas all think they’re the chosen one, the most special one. They believe she’ll finally settle down after meeting them. But in the end, they all end up heartbroken. I heard many are still trying to get back together with her.”
Though the rumors were exaggerated, they weren’t entirely baseless.
Doctor Mu frowned deeply as he overheard the gossip.
The child of his friend’s family might be a bit mischievous, but she was nothing like the rumors claimed.
Mu Ye removed his stethoscope, opened the patient room door, and calmly sent the gossiping nurses downstairs.
The room fell silent again, save for the hum of medical equipment and the steady breathing of the two occupants.
Mu Ye was a friend of Zhi Qiu’s father. Having just returned to the country this year, he heard about the car accident involving the young girl he had watched grow up. He immediately pulled some strings to get a job at this private hospital, hoping to offer any assistance he could.
The result?
Apart from a minor fracture in her right leg, all her other vital signs remained consistently good.
Yet for some reason, she had burst into tears the moment she regained consciousness.
Mu Ye sighed, assuming it was due to the exaggerated rumors circulating.
He reassured her, “People’s prejudices are like mountains, but they only believe what they want to believe. Why care what these people think? As long as those who truly matter know you’ve done nothing wrong, that’s all that matters.”
Zhi Qiu nodded in agreement.
She wasn’t crying over the opinions of these insignificant people.
Her regret stemmed from betraying the one who truly loved her.
“Uncle Mu, I have a request.”
Mu Ye raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”
He sensed it couldn’t be anything good.
Zhi Qiu’s voice was firm. “Discharge me now. I need to return to Nolton.”
Before the majestic gates of Northampton Private School, a stretch limousine came to a halt, closely followed by an extravagantly pink luxury car.
The first to emerge from the car were several bodyguards in uniform black suits, standing in disciplined rows on either side of the door.
One of them, named Shang Wu, respectfully opened the car door and extended a hand to the person inside.
At that moment, a provocatively dressed female Omega stepped out of the luxury car behind, her presence radiating aggression. She slapped away the man’s outstretched hand with a fierce blow. “Hey, take your filthy hand back! How dare a low-class Beta like you touch Zhi Qiu’s hand?”
The burly man remained stooped, his hand still extended, unmoved by her outburst.
Yuan Menglu sneered.
What a clueless fool.
He can’t even recognize my good intentions. Just wait to be humiliated.
The scorching sun had already soaked the bodyguards’ uniforms with sweat.
Fine beads of perspiration glistened on Shang Wu’s dark skin, yet he stubbornly kept his hand extended.
Yuan Menglu shielded her eyes from the blinding glare, sighing inwardly.
Long ago, Zhi Qiu had told her about Shang Wu.
This man had been assigned to her by her father, and she had always suspected him of being a double agent, planted to spy on her. As a result, she treated him with extreme hostility.
Forget it.
I won’t argue with fools.
Yuan Menglu sighed, preparing to step in and smooth things over, giving both sides a way to back down gracefully.
But before she could speak, a pair of slender, pale hands suddenly reached out from the car and gently rested on the dark-skinned arm.
“You’ve worked hard,” Zhi Qiu praised.
After her rebirth, Zhi Qiu had many things she needed to correct, but she couldn’t act too abruptly. Instead, she had to gradually change the impressions people had of her.
Thus, even though she had a thousand words she wanted to say after her rebirth, now wasn’t the time.
Yuan Menglu gaped, staring at the western sky.
Zhi Qiu glanced at her. “What are you looking at? We’re at the school gate. Hurry up and move.”
Yuan Menglu winked at her friend, striking a dramatic pose like Xi Shi clutching her heart. “I’m watching the sun.”
The sun really has risen in the west!
Zhi Qiu smiled silently, urging her to push the wheelchair forward.
The Office
This week marked the fourth time the teacher had called Ruan Ye in for a private talk.
She couldn’t focus on her classes, constantly being summoned to the office for trivial matters by her homeroom teacher.
In the office, Qian Yan, Ruan Ye’s homeroom teacher and math teacher, feigned concern as she began, “Ruan Ye, I know your family isn’t well-off. If you’re facing any difficulties at home, please tell me. Why did you suddenly change your phone number and move out? Yesterday, no one could reach you. Classmate Fu, your parents, and I were all very worried. If there’s anything troubling you, you must communicate with me promptly.”
“Since the school is updating student records anyway, please register your new address and phone number,” Qian Yan said, handing a pen to the girl who stood with her head bowed.
A few years prior, Qian Yan had accepted Ruan Ye as a special admission student into her class, all to boost her chances of promotion. She had put on a show of being a caring teacher.
Now that she had secured her promotion, she no longer bothered with the act.
If Fu Jin Yan’s assistant hadn’t called yesterday, promising her the position of Dean of Academics next semester if she kept a close eye on Ruan Ye, she wouldn’t have summoned this girl, who offered no further value, to her office to get in her way.
The girl’s hand trembled slightly as she took the pen, her head bowed low, her emotions hidden so well that no one could discern her feelings.
Two conflicting voices tore at Ruan Ye’s heart.
“Just sign it. Refusing will only bring more trouble. You can run for a day, but you can’t run forever.”
“Don’t tell her! If you keep letting these people bully you, this will never end!”
“What good will refusing do? They’ll find you eventually. Might as well go all the way and…”
The girl remained motionless. Qian Yan, growing impatient, finally revealed her true, malicious nature. “Don’t be ungrateful,” she snapped. “Young Master Fu wants your address. I’m doing you a favor here. Remember, your grandmother’s VIP hospital bills are being paid by Eldest Young Master Fu. You moved without a word. Did you even consider your grandmother? She only has a few days left. How do you expect her to face the nurses’ disdain when she can’t afford the expensive fees?”
Her words struck true.
Grandma was still in the hospital.
Suppressing the burning desire for revenge that threatened to erupt in her mind, Ruan Ye closed her eyes and finally relented.
Though the desks at Noadon School all faced south, bathed in warm sunlight that streamed onto her uniform, she felt an icy chill seep into her bones, as if she had plunged into a dark, frigid ice cellar.
After writing down her address and leaving the office, she moved in a daze. Rounding a corner, her leg accidentally struck a hard object, throwing her off balance.
Recalling the last time she had accidentally bumped into a classmate and been falsely accused of staging an accident, Ruan Ye ignored the sharp pain in her knee and scrambled to her feet. She bowed repeatedly, stammering apologies: “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to! Really, I wasn’t trying to stage anything! I…”
Yuan Menglu, pushing the wheelchair, froze in place, startled by the sudden apology. She looked at the girl in the wheelchair with confusion.
The girl’s hands trembled slightly, tears welling in her eyes, threatening to spill over.
Zhi Qiu leaned down, gently stroking the girl’s soft hair. “Look up,” she murmured.
The girl, her knee scraped raw, felt her mind go blank. Instinctively, she obeyed the clear, gentle voice. Hot tears streamed down her soft cheeks, tracing paths along her slender neck.
Through the blur of tears, Ruan Ye saw the owner of the pale, slender hand gently wiping away her tears.
“Ruan Ye, you never need to apologize to me.”
This was their first formal meeting.
Ruan Ye knew who this person was:
A female Alpha with a notoriously bad reputation at Noadon.
Remembering the Alpha’s past actions at school, Ruan Ye remained silent, silently avoiding the outstretched hand that offered to help her up. She turned and hurried away.
She couldn’t trust anyone anymore.
She just wanted to avoid causing any more trouble.
“Hey! What kind of manners are those?!” Yuan Menglu’s eyebrows furrowed so tightly they nearly met.
She wanted to call the girl back and demand an apology.
Zhi Qiu stopped her, suppressing the urge to chase after them. She lowered her slightly disappointed gaze and said, “Let’s not cause unnecessary trouble. We’re here to discuss my return to school with the teacher.”
It was the same office, but the atmosphere had shifted dramatically.
Qian Yan, who had been so rude to Ruan Ye just moments ago, now wore a beaming smile. Her attitude toward the two students seeking readmission was so warm, it was as if they were her own daughters.
Knowing Zhi Qiu was the heir to the Zhi Family, Qian Yan sat nervously on the edge of her chair. “This illness came on so suddenly. President Zhi had already arranged your leave of absence. You can rest a few more days, Xiao Qiu. There’s no need to rush back to school.”
Zhi Qiu only knew the main plot points; she had no insight into the thoughts of minor characters.
She smiled warmly. “Graduation is just around the corner, and I want to focus on my studies. Returning directly to the original honors class wouldn’t be fair to the other students who passed the tests. I’m here to request a transfer to your class. That way, someone familiar with my health condition can keep an eye on me, which would be much more convenient.”
This sudden windfall made Qian Yan’s eyes disappear behind her smile. She hurriedly stamped Zhi Qiu’s transfer request, fearing the prize sheep might slip into someone else’s grasp.
“Nonsense, it’s no trouble at all!”
After bidding farewell to Qian Yan, Yuan Menglu pushed the wheelchair with ill-concealed annoyance.
“What’s gotten into you?” Zhi Qiu rubbed her ears.
In her memory, Qian Yan had always been a caring, responsible, and dedicated teacher who cherished her students.
When no other class was willing to accept Ruan Ye, it was Qian Yan who took her into her own class.
“How dare she try to take credit for being ‘like family’ to you? She should look at her own character first! Do you remember the teacher evaluation from the first half of the year?”
“The award should have gone to another teacher, but because Qian Yan took in a special admission student, the principal insisted on giving her this year’s spot. All those hardworking teachers who toiled so long got nothing because of her! Hypocritical and disgusting!”
Zhi Qiu was shocked.
In her previous life, she had pondered many things, but most of her thoughts revolved around the main plot. She had never paid attention to the petty grudges and rivalries of the minor characters in this world.
Having invested so much in following the plot, she couldn’t afford a single misstep.
As this realization struck her, Zhi Qiu’s expression suddenly turned serious.
If Qian Yan had taken in Ruan Ye for such ulterior motives, she would need to completely revise her plans.
