Scumbag Woman, But Pampering My Wife - Chapter 14
Qin Jue’s heart raced wildly before the tablet screen.
Her gaze remained locked with Lin Yuebai’s through the screen, their eyes meeting as if an electric current surged through her body in an instant.
Her heart pounded so fiercely it seemed ready to burst from her chest, the vibrations making her eardrums tremble.
For a fleeting moment, Qin Jue felt dazed—as though Lin Yuebai was truly looking at her.
She instinctively took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
Lin Yuebai couldn’t possibly like her. There was no reason for her to. Qin Jue was the one who had caused her pain.
Her fingers tightened around the milk cup, only to find it empty—the warm milk long gone, leaving only an icy chill against her palm.
Her fingertips turned pale, her breathing uneven.
Lin Yuebai’s archery stance was elegant, brimming with power—nothing like the delicate, fragile image she usually pretended to project.
System: “?”
Qin Jue: “The protagonist is very captivating.”
The system agreed. “Right? I think so too.”
Secretly, it hoped Qin Jue wouldn’t be too harsh on the protagonist. If they could just complete the mission together, everything would be fine.
The system spun in place, basking in the protagonist’s brilliance, completely unaware that Qin Jue had registered a live-streaming account.
“MoonlightShinesOnMe” gifted Lin Yuebai’s livestream 50 Deepwater Torpedoes.
“MoonlightShinesOnMe” gifted Lin Yuebai’s livestream 100 Carnivals.
“MoonlightShinesOnMe” gifted Lin Yuebai’s livestream 100 Luxury Cruises.
The screen exploded with dazzling effects, drowning out all other comments.
The livestream fell silent for a moment as everyone watched the user “MoonlightShinesOnMe” climb to the top of the leaderboard.
Lin Yuebai blinked in surprise. “Thank you for the gifts, ‘MoonlightShinesOnMe.’ Thank you, boss.”
MoonlightShinesOnMe: No need to call me boss. You’re amazing—keep it up.
Zhuang Lan marveled at the sudden influx of revenue in the backend. Lin Yuebai’s first livestream had attracted a generous patron.
Watching Lin Yuebai’s ranking skyrocket, Zhuang Lan saw her claim the top spot on the platform’s leaderboard that very night.
The gift tally in the backend updated every second, as if money meant nothing to the gifter. The barrage lasted over two hours, only stopping when the livestream ended.

Lin Yuebai counted down the days until the start of filming. It wasn’t until the “Workplace Breakthrough” crew officially began production that she finally saw Qin Jue again.
As the producer, Qin Jue stood at the front with the director, lighting incense and firecrackers.
Throughout the entire ceremony, their eyes never met.
The system murmured in Qin Jue’s mind, “Lin Yuebai’s parents keep demanding money from her. She’s already repaid all the expenses they spent raising her, but they’re still insatiable. Recently, they even made a scene at Mengzhen Entertainment’s entrance.”
The makeshift altar stood out prominently on set. Staff had prepared plates of apples, oranges, and grapes, while incense smoke curled upward from the burner. Between two red bamboo stands lay a plump pig’s head.
Qin Jue lifted three incense sticks with both hands, bowing in prayer. Behind her, the crew stood in solemn silence, their expressions a mix of reverence and anticipation.
Qin Jue could feel someone’s gaze fixed on her back.
The system chattered incessantly in Qin Jue’s mind, “Lin Yuebai’s parents somehow got wind of the filming location and came to make a scene, demanding money from her to buy their son a house.”
In the original novel, Lin Yuebai had a 16-year-old brother who failed to get into high school and was now learning a trade at a vocational school. The parents doted on him excessively, wanting to save up early for his future marriage. But the boy himself dreamed of becoming a big-shot entrepreneur, using all the money Lin Yuebai had previously sent home to start a business—which he subsequently lost. Now the family thought it better to buy him a property for his future family.
Qin Jue found it laughable that an underage kid would dream of starting a business to become some big boss.
The system continued, “When Lin Yuebai’s parents showed up on set, the antagonist mocked them harshly, fueling her competitive spirit and reinforcing her determination to prove herself.”
When the system laid out its mission requirements, Qin Jue’s expression briefly went blank.
“Do I really have to say that?”
The system replied confidently, “Don’t worry, everything’s going according to plan.”
Qin Jue thought the system wasn’t very bright, but seeing the little glowing orb bouncing around in her mind, she held back from saying anything hurtful.
After the incense-offering ritual, the director preferred to shoot conflict-heavy scenes first to help actors get into character.
As the protagonist, Du Mingyu had just completed a project when the investor’s son was parachuted into her team. A graduate of a prestigious university, he was there for resume polish but clashed fiercely with Du Mingyu over work philosophy. Without any backing, Du Mingyu, as team leader, was publicly berated by him in front of their colleagues. She finally snapped and refuted his grandiose theories on the spot.
The filming location was an actual company that had lent two floors to the crew.
Qin Jue sat behind a desk, resting her head on one hand while holding a milk tea in the other.
Before her, Lin Yuebai, playing Du Mingyu, wore a black-and-white office suit, exuding professionalism before the camera as if she were born to shine in the corporate world.
Du Mingyu furrowed her brows and slammed a file onto the conference table with a sharp crack.
Everyone instinctively shuddered.
“That’s absolute nonsense! The supplier you mentioned had significant quality fluctuations last quarter and unreliable delivery cycles. While you claim they can produce above-market-average goods, who can guarantee mass production? This would be disastrous for our existing production plans. If the assembly line halts and we miss delivery deadlines, we won’t just lose credibility—we’ll lose the capital invested in production and our market share. Don’t apply your textbook theories from abroad to the domestic market.”
Du Mingyu composed herself and coolly met the gaze of the actor opposite her, who nearly broke character in surprise.
“When selecting suppliers, we must exercise extreme caution. Rather than jumping straight to high-end products, I believe we should start with basic goods to cultivate user habits for new products first.”
The male actor opposite nearly buckled when rebutted by Lin Yuebai, failing to maintain his character’s elite, spoiled-rich-kid demeanor.
The director rubbed his temples in frustration. “Yuebai is doing great, but could the male lead please focus? Every time she delivers her lines, he gets completely distracted. Do you actually want to applaud her performance?”
Qin Jue was about to clap when Zhuang Lan quickly approached and whispered in a low voice,
“There are two people causing a scene at the company entrance, claiming to be Yuebai’s parents. I’ve had security take them to the break room. What should we do?”
Lin Yuebai, standing by the conference table, felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. Her face turned deathly pale after checking the message.
