Seduced Me into a Deep Fall (GL , ABO) - Chapter 5
The butler-like woman looked ready to snatch someone from Lingxi’s arms, glaring at her as if she were some scoundrel alpha taking liberties with their young mistress.
“I was just sending your young lady home, she’s drunk,” Lingxi explained after a moment’s thought. Then she added, “Earlier, I saw her being surrounded by some people, so I stepped in to help. We just came back from the police station.”
But she didn’t seem to have any more convincing evidence to offer.
The butler eyed her suspiciously, clearly unwilling to believe her.
Yet, the more she studied Lingxi’s face, the more something felt off.
“Wait… are you that person from Xiao Xie’s ?”
Lingxi bit her lip, a cold sweat breaking out on her back.
Was she about to be mercilessly thrown out of the villa by this butler, only to be caught by Muxie near Song Yi’s place?
Considering Muxie’s near-obsessive possessiveness and controlling nature, Lingxi realized this outcome would be far worse than simply being caught after running away.
After all, at the engagement banquet, Muxie had heard every word of the gossip whispered behind their backs.
If she were to misunderstand and think Lingxi had something going on with Song Yi…
Lingxi shuddered.
To the butler, this reaction only confirmed her guilt.
Their young lady never got drunk.
Even though she had slipped away from her entourage tonight, she had still left with bodyguards.
How could she have gotten drunk, surrounded by strangers, needing this woman’s help?
But then again, Song Yi wasn’t the type to get drunk easily, and when sober, she would never let a strange alpha especially one connected to her family, get this close.
Let alone cling to them so intimately and obediently.
Unless something really had happened…
In the span of a second, the butler ran through countless possibilities, yet still concluded that Lingxi must have orchestrated this somehow.
“Did you drug her? You alphas are all the same sneaking high-priced black-market substances into the drinks of high-ranking omegas, thinking it’ll help you climb the social ladder. Well, let me tell you, as long as I’m here, that’s never happening.”
The butler was fiercely loyal and wildly imaginative already moving to snatch Song Yi from Lingxi’s arms.
In that critical moment, Lingxi’s hair stood on end, her mind blank with no way out.
Alphas had the ability to mark others, which always put them at a disadvantage in situations like this.
Besides, maybe some alphas really had done such things. She couldn’t blame the butler for being wary.
Thankfully, Song Yi chose that moment to stir.
She pressed a hand to her temple, as if suffering from a splitting headache, then lifted her jewel-like phoenix eyes to glance at the building before them.
Then she turned her gaze to Lingxi, who was still holding her.
Lingxi noticed the haze in her eyes had cleared, replaced by the sharpness she usually carried.
Had Song Yi sobered up?
“Miss Song…” Lingxi didn’t know whether to keep holding her or let go. Trying to set her down abruptly might make her fall, so she just called out hesitantly.
Song Yi raised a hand to stop her.
Then, her lips parted slightly, her voice still slightly hoarse.
“Put me down.”
“Ah, right, sorry about that.” Flustered, Lingxi carefully lowered Song Yi to the ground.
Song Yi steadied herself, taking another moment to recover.
Her butler rushed forward, draping a coat over her shoulders and taking her bag.
Truly professional.
“Miss, are you alright? I think this alpha is up to no good. She must have done something to you, not content with clinging to Miss Mu Xie, now she’s trying to latch onto you. Just give the word, and I’ll have her thrown out immediately.”
Ling Xi was sweating bullets now. She wasn’t sure if Song Yi remembered what had just happened.
More importantly, she couldn’t be certain of Song Yi’s character either.
Song Yi was related to Mu Xie by bl00d. What if she turned out to be just like Mu Xie.
Ling Xi suddenly felt that saving a life earlier had landed her with a hot potato.
Even asking for a favor came with so many hurdles, she was genuinely exhausted.
Song Yi shook her head and gave the housekeeper a subtle glance. “Aunt Zhao, I don’t think that’s the case.”
Housekeeper Zhao froze, stunned.
“You, come with me.” Song Yi glanced back at Ling Xi.
Just one glance, no lingering, no trace of emotion.
She left Ling Xi with nothing but a haughty silhouette.
Following her into the villa, Ling Xi finally let out a sigh of relief.
Song Yi was clearly sober now and likely remembered what had happened.
Hopefully, calling her inside meant she wanted to discuss terms.
Even a little money would solve Ling Xi’s immediate problems.
As for Song Yi’s noticeably cold demeanor, Ling Xi didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. In fact, it put her more at ease.
This was how strangers should treat each other.
Besides, Song Yi was known for her aloofness. If she suddenly acted warm, Ling Xi would have suspected ulterior motives.
Ling Xi kept her gaze forward the entire way.
Behind her, Housekeeper Zhao had a million questions but didn’t dare utter a word, Song Yi’s expression was colder than usual, her silence oppressive.
“Alright, everyone out. Call Shen Feique in.” Song Yi led Ling Xi to the study and dismissed the others.
“Make yourself comfortable.” That was all she said to Ling Xi before sitting at the desk and flipping through documents.
The life of a CEO was indeed different from that of a pampered princess.
In her past life, Mu Xie had spent her days indulging in leisure, with nothing but time to spare.
Ling Xi remembered having to wait for Mu Xie to be absent even for something as drastic as biting her own tongue to end her life.
And those days were rare. In the end, Ling Xi had been lucky, Mu Xie had left to attend an important banquet.
Otherwise, she might still be trapped in that tiny room, forced into intimacy with someone she loathed. No freedom, no sight of the outside world.
A life worse than a prisoner’s.
Ling Xi casually took a seat, poised but not stiff neither too relaxed nor overly tense.
Song Yi, wearing glasses, pretended to work while waiting for Shen Feique.
In truth, she was stealing glances at Ling Xi through the lenses.
If only she could keep her here.
Song Yi’s gaze dimmed when she noticed the ring on Ling Xi’s finger.
How she wished she had been the one to place it there.
Five minutes later, Shen Feique knocked on the door.
“Master.” Dressed in black from head to toe, with dark hair and eyes, she knelt on one knee the moment she saw Song Yi, the picture of reverence.
Yet she was so unremarkable that Ling Xi nearly missed her presence entirely, wondering why no one was there even after the door opened.
“I failed in my duty tonight.” As a skilled bodyguard, Shen Feique was adept at reading people’s expressions.
Initially, she found Song Yi’s order to stand by rather puzzling.
It wasn’t until later, when she saw Song Yi flirting with the young alpha, that everything clicked.
As the leader, Shen Feique naturally took the initiative to shoulder the blame, ensuring Song Yi’s cover wasn’t blown.
Without either party knowing, she had already elevated “helping the boss get a partner” to their top mission priority.
“This subordinate is willing to accept punishment.”
Song Yi’s expression softened slightly. “We’ll discuss punishment later. First, recount what happened tonight.”
Shen Feique paused for three seconds, then began summarizing the events.
“You said you wanted to go drinking tonight, so we accompanied you. However, we lost track of you when you went to the restroom. Later, you were surrounded by a group of ill-intentioned individuals. At the critical moment, this young lady stepped in and protected you, using both wit and strength.”
Trained in martial arts from a young age, her way with words was limited, but she still did her best to praise Ling Xi.
This “version of events” was solely for Ling Xi’s benefit to convince her that tonight had truly been an accident.
Someone of Song Yi’s status would naturally have bodyguards around.
This was to dispel Ling Xi’s doubts and eliminate any potential risks.
Song Yi tapped her knuckles against the table, feigning skepticism.
The Buddhist beads on her wrist struck the surface in a cold, rhythmic clatter chillier than the autumn night’s wind.
Even Ling Xi, who had been side-eyeing her, couldn’t help but shiver.
An omega who looked like a wrathful Buddha.
Even with a hundred extra guts, Ling Xi wouldn’t dare entertain any improper thoughts.
She was certain that the moment any strange ideas crossed her mind, Song Yi’s glare alone could kill her ten thousand times over.
“Did you call the police?”
Ling Xi, lost in thought, was abruptly pulled back by Song Yi’s question.
Her composure faltered; she pinched the hem of her clothes and bit her lip hard enough to hurt. “Yes.”
Song Yi studied her, her gaze devoid of hostility.
But it was so languid, she seemed on the verge of dozing off.
Ling Xi assumed she was exhausted, unaware that Song Yi was merely suppressing a fervor.
A fervor that would frighten Ling Xi, something not yet ready to be revealed.
Song Yi averted her eyes and tilted her chin up.
Shen Feique continued. “Indeed, thanks to Miss Ling’s timely call, the police dispatched five officers and arrested the thugs who targeted you. On the way back, you shared a car with Miss Ling and likely fell asleep.”
Song Yi nodded. “Go receive your punishment.”
Shen Feique left.
Once again, only Ling Xi and Song Yi remained in the room.
Now, Ling Xi had lost all her earlier steadiness. Cold sweat trickled down her back, and her palms bore white marks from how tightly she’d clenched them.
The pain did nothing to ease the tension inside.
She was waiting for Song Yi’s next judgment, a verdict that could determine the course of her fortune in this lifetime.
“You saved me.” Song Yi crooked a finger at Ling Xi.
That simple gesture alone exuded dominance.
Grace and presence radiated from within, enveloping Ling Xi not in a way that crushed her, but in a strangely comforting, trustworthy manner.
“Is there anything you want? Within my power, I can grant it.” Song Yi kept her voice low.
She put on her usual air of indifference and languidness.
Lingxi was so overwhelmed she nearly gasped, her legs giving way beneath her.
Steadying herself, she then lowered her lashes, making herself appear pitiful.
“Anything?”
“If it’s within my power.” Song Yi was also curious about what Lingxi truly wanted.
If it was too simple, then Lingxi shouldn’t blame her for forcing an arrangement.
Only then did Lingxi raise her gaze, lifting those heart-stirring peach-blossom eyes to meet Song Yi’s, tears welling up, looking utterly fragile.
“Please, save me. Take me away from there.”
Song Yi watched as the flickering diamond light in Lingxi’s trembling hand finally went out.
