Seduced Me into a Deep Fall (GL , ABO) - Chapter 9
Mu Xie remained silent for three seconds before finally pressing the answer button.
“Miss Mu. Chairman Song needs to see you.” The voice on the other end sounded somewhat familiar.
It had been too long since Mu Xie had interacted with this person, and it took her a moment to recall this was likely Song Yi’s secretary.
Of course, it made sense. In the current Yihe Group, and even the entire Song family, only one person deserved the title of “Chairman Song.”
“Can’t it be discussed over the phone?” Mu Xie didn’t want to go.
She hadn’t even found a trace of Ling Xi yet, how could she possibly focus on anything else?
Besides, with the vast resources of the Song family, was there really no one else available? Was there truly something only she could do?
Wasn’t she supposed to be the Song family’s biggest ornament, the pampered, carefree, and utterly incompetent little princess?
“My apologies, Miss Mu. I don’t know the details. But Chairman Song wouldn’t ask for you unless it was important.”
The secretary hadn’t been told much, only that Song Yi had given this order before a meeting, insisting that Mu Xie be contacted as soon as possible.
It seemed urgent.
“But I have my own matters to attend to right now.” Mu Xie’s refusal was firm.
Yet even this, Song Yi had anticipated.
“I’m sorry, Miss Mu. Chairman Song said that if you refuse, she’ll inform your grandmother about the engagement banquet you held yesterday.”
“…Where?” Mu Xie bit her lip hard enough to draw bl00d, a crimson trickle sliding down the corner of her mouth.
“Yihe Headquarters.” The secretary provided an address.
Forced to pause her search for Ling Xi, Mu Xie was beyond displeased.
She could have her subordinates continue the search, but she was impatient.
Even if Ling Xi had been reborn, at this point in time, she couldn’t possibly have any connections.
Even in her past life, Ling Xi had died without ever building any meaningful relationships.
Her friends had long since lost contact.
Everything should have been under Mu Xie’s control.
Where could she possibly run to on such a sudden impulse?
How far could she go?
Wasn’t she afraid Mu Xie would retaliate against Ling Yue?
Sitting in the car on the way to Yihe Headquarters, Mu Xie’s bangs obscured her vision, casting her face in shadow, her expression dark.
She ran through every possibility. No matter how she looked at it, even if Ling Xi had fled, she couldn’t have gone far.
She would find her soon.
And then… she would apologize properly.
Explain everything.
She knew she was wrong. They had been so close once, she had loved her so much.
Couldn’t she just come back?
She wouldn’t repeat the mistakes of her past life.
When she reached the floor of Song Yi’s office, Mu Xie took a deep breath.
She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and composed her expression.
The bl00d at the corner of her mouth had long been wiped away.
Everything appeared normal.
Only then did she push open the door to Song Yi’s office with a practiced smile.
“Auntie.”
Mu Xie stepped inside, her gaze landing on the omega seated at the center of the office.
Brilliant, gifted born with a silver spoon, raised with the full resources of the family.
Designated as the heir at a young age, her future boundless, her prestige unmatched.
Mu Xie still remembered the first time she saw Song Yi, at her tenth birthday party.
Even then, Song Yi had worn this same indifferent expression, effortlessly commanding the room.
Everyone had clamored to flatter her, to win her favor, while she, weighed down by layers of ornate skirts, couldn’t even be bothered to acknowledge them.
A single sentence could unravel a problem that had plagued a company for far too long. How could someone like that understand humility, understand being neglected and bullied, understand the darkness of the gutters?
Mu Xie had disliked her from the start.
Mu Xie herself had no mother, no family where would she ever have a birthday party?
Only her great-grandmother doted on her, willing to buy her a cake to celebrate.
“Sit.” Back in the present, Song Yi remained as flawless as ever.
At twenty-seven, her face and features were still as immaculate as a newborn moon.
Yet she carried far more maturity than a girl barely out of her teens, the distinctive depth of a well-aged wine.
It was a refinement Mu Xie could never hope to achieve.
And then there was the faint, elusive scent of bergamot lingering in the air.
A person favored by the heavens even the scent of her pheromones was exquisitely balanced. A touch sweeter, and it would be cloying; a touch lighter, and it would lose its allure.
Mu Xie didn’t understand why Song Yi was releasing her pheromones.
Was it a provocation?
After all, the pheromones of an S-rank Omega had a profound effect on anyone who wasn’t a Beta, regardless of gender.
Or was it simply beyond her control?
Mu Xie knew all too well the tendencies of high-ranking Omegas.
Extreme emotions could trigger a heat, and happiness could make their glands unconsciously secrete pheromones…
Such a perfect S-rank Omega. Anyone who encountered her either wanted to possess her or was driven mad with envy.
Mu Xie happened to belong to the latter category.
She bit her lip again, swallowing the bl00d from the torn flesh, keeping it all inside.
“You’re only twenty-two. Getting engaged so early, are you trying to break away from our Song family?” Song Yi didn’t give her an ounce of warmth.
Beyond the pheromonal suppression, she also withdrew any restraint over her aura.
She adopted the same demeanor she used at the negotiation table with seasoned foxes.
Even the slightest glance, the faintest lift of a pen, a single breath it was enough to suffocate Mu Xie.
Mu Xie grew even more confused.
Normally, Song Yi never paid her this much attention. Why suddenly bring this up?
“Why can’t it be Xiao Xi joining our Song family instead?” Mu Xie clenched her skirt where Song Yi couldn’t see.
Song Yi lifted a hand and flipped through the documents.
The paper sliced through the air, her prayer beads clinking softly, a crisp, sudden sound.
Mu Xie tensed at the unexpected noise.
“We’ve already agreed on it.” Even so, Mu Xie refused to back down.
Of course she knew all her current prestige came from the Song family.
If she were to leave, how could she ever make Ling Xi look her way again?
Song Yi’s expression didn’t change.
She signed her name with a stroke of the pen, distracted, while Mu Xie seethed in silence.
“Your mother was never found. The Song family has raised you for twenty-two years.”
For the first time, Song Yi set down her pen, adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses, and looked at Mu Xie.
Her eyes were sharp with a cold light. Refracted through the lenses, that chill grew even more piercing, stabbing into Mu Xie.
Mu Xie met her gaze for barely a second before feeling as if she’d go blind.
She couldn’t help but blink, unable to suppress the shock in her eyes.
Tears welled up, making her look pitiful.
“There’s no room for negotiation. Grandmother may dote on you and fall for your act. With me, you can try.” Song Yi barely spared her a glance.
As if she had merely stepped away from her heavy workload for a few seconds of rest.
Then she plunged back into her busy schedule.
The entire time, she treated Mu Xie as if she were air.
Mu Xie couldn’t help but hate her a little more for how casually she acted.
Letting Xiao Xi off the hook yesterday was one thing, but today, she suddenly handed down such a punishment.
Could it be that she had taken a liking to Ling Xi and wanted to snatch her away?
If that were really the case, then Song Yi was nothing more than a lovesick fool.
Such underhanded methods were downright disgusting.
Mu Xie’s smile vanished as she shot her a cold glance. Without another word, she turned and walked toward the door.
“I won’t take back the things your people obtained from our Song family,” Song Yi added. “But you must move out of the old residence.”
The only response was the sound of the door slamming shut.
Song Yi removed her glasses and stopped working.
Wiping the lenses, she hid the smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
Dealing with someone had to be done step by step like boiling a frog in warm water.
Without the Song family’s backing, Mu Xie’s actions would be hindered at every turn.
Ling Xi could finally rest easy.
Outside, Mu Xie stood in silence for a full minute before slowly leaving.
Pressing her temples, she let out a long exhale.
Song Yi hadn’t confiscated her belongings, only demanded she vacate the old residence.
As if she simply found her presence irritating.
It didn’t matter. Her aunt had always had a terrible temper.
As long as she still had her resources, she could find Ling Xi again. Nothing else was important.
Ling Xi was the only reason she kept living.
Mu Xie opened her phone, found her great-grandmother’s contact, and dialed.
Ling Xi slept until noon.
When she opened her eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling, she was dazed for a moment.
Then, remembering the bizarre events of the previous night, she covered her face and forced herself awake.
She checked her phone. When she fled yesterday, she had removed her SIM card to prevent Mu Xie from contacting her or worse, tracking her through it.
Now that she was finally safe, she didn’t dare take any risks. Connecting to Song Yi’s Wi-Fi, she first checked her social media.
Hesitantly, she sent a message to her older sister, Ling Yue. Of course, there was no reply.
She also reached out to friends she had cut ties with to protect them but received no responses there either.
Ling Xi sighed.
At the very least, she had finally escaped the devil’s grasp.
From here on out, she would follow the plans she had made during her captivity, one step at a time.
After washing up, Ling Xi left her room.
She stared at the open door a few meters away, feeling another wave of disorientation.
Song Yi was the company’s chairman, she must have already left for work, right?
Not daring to barge into someone else’s room, Ling Xi wandered around the house for a while.
Then she realized, she was lost.
The villa was too big. Every hallway, every corner, every door looked exactly the same.
She had been circling the same area for five minutes without seeing a single person.
It was only then that Ling Xi realized she didn’t have contact information for anyone in this house.
She stood helplessly in place.
Even when she tried to retrace her steps, she couldn’t find her way back to her room.
The household staff probably never passed through such a secluded area.
The near-silence of her surroundings only amplified her unease.
Fear spread from the depths of her heart. Clutching her phone, she couldn’t find a single person to reach out to.
Her friends, her family… none of them would answer her now.
How was this any different from being locked in that tiny room in her past life?
Ling Xi walked aimlessly, her brows furrowed.
After struggling so hard to escape, was she really going to die forgotten in some corner of this villa?
After walking for an unknown amount of time, Lingxi’s phone suddenly vibrated.
She nearly jumped in excitement, eagerly grabbing her phone, thinking it was her sister.
But instead, she saw an unfamiliar account.
It had a pure black profile picture, with just a single period “.” as the username.
The friend request message contained only two simple words: Song Yi.
