Seducing Him - Chapter 47
His cold, aloof face, when filled with desire, was truly arousing.
Ci Yiyang felt her eyes sting with emotion. She suppressed the feelings that had been stirred within her, hurriedly dropped the phrase, “Go get dressed when you’re done,” and then, with her legs trembling, went into the bathroom to run a new bath and wash up.
She meticulously washed every part of her body that had touched his, making sure to stay in the bathroom for a while.
Only when she was sure the person in the room was gone did she emerge from the bathroom. Seeing the bedding had been thoughtfully changed by the boy, she couldn’t help but cover her hot, red face and let out a long sigh of relief.
She was truly infatuated, to do such a thing with him here.
It was still early. Ci Yiyang stayed in her room for a bit before going downstairs.
Luo Lin, who had been in the courtyard, was no longer there. Only Lu Lan remained, sitting in a chair with a cup of tea beside her.
Lu Lan seemed to have been waiting for her. As soon as she saw her, she gently beckoned, “Yangyang, come here.”
After the unpleasantness that had just happened, Ci Yiyang thought she might be a little annoyed and wouldn’t be as proactive in talking to her.
Ci Yiyang stood still, looking at the gentle expression on the woman’s face. After a few seconds, she walked towards her.
Lu Lan asked, “Are you going to your grandmother’s house later?”
“Yes.” Ci Yiyang didn’t plan on talking much with her, so she didn’t sit down.
Lu Lan looked at her, her eyes filled with apology. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that tree wasn’t the same as the old one. I took your mother’s things without permission and caused you to feel bad.”
The woman was as gentle as when they first met, as if she had no temper at all. The look in her eyes was full of kind sympathy.
Ci Yiyang opened her mouth, unsure of what to say.
When she first met Lu Lan, she thought the gentleness and sympathy in the woman’s eyes were fake, and she deeply disliked the two who had brazenly moved in.
But when no one else was around, why would she pretend so well?
Looking at the woman’s gentle gaze, which was somewhat similar to her mother’s, Ci Yiyang’s chest was suddenly pierced by something.
She suppressed the emotions in her eyes and calmly asked Lu Lan, “Aunt Lu, is there anything else?”
She couldn’t forgive the woman who was brought back just a few days after her mother’s death, especially since she knew her mother had just passed away.
And Luo Lin, she couldn’t forgive him either.
Sensing that she didn’t want to talk, Lu Lan sighed inwardly and shook her head. “No. Have a good time, and be careful on the road.”
“Okay.” Ci Yiyang turned and walked outside.
She wasn’t the only one going to see her grandmother; Luo Lin was too.
When Ci Yiyang opened the car door, she saw him in the driver’s seat.
After what had just happened, Ci Yiyang didn’t want to talk to him. She just got directly into the back seat.
Luo Lin extinguished his cigarette. He had intended to ask why she came down so late, but seeing the cold expression on her face, he decided not to say anything.
The father and daughter looked at each other, but neither spoke.
The car drove on in silence.
Her grandmother’s house was not far, about ten kilometers away.
After her grandfather died, her grandmother lived alone in Hechuan. When Ci Yiyang was a child, she often went back to Hechuan with her mother to see her.
Decades ago, the streets of Hechuan were very narrow. Since her last visit, she had noticed that not only were the roads wider, but the houses on both sides had been rebuilt into tall buildings.
In the old house, there were only a few maids hired to do the cleaning and take care of the elderly woman’s daily needs.
Having been notified in advance, the maid at the old house was already waiting.
When Ci Yiyang got out of the car, she saw Aunt Chen, who was in charge of her grandmother’s care, and asked with concern, “Aunt Chen, where’s Grandmother?”
Aunt Chen had worked for the Luo family for over a decade and had watched Ci Yiyang grow up. Upon seeing her, her eyes were filled with joy. “The old lady, she’s been a little unsteady on her feet since her surgery not long ago. She’s in the back garden feeding the birds right now. She told me to bring you and the master directly there when you arrived. You’ll be having dinner in the back garden tonight.”
“Okay.”
Houses from that era were not influenced by Western styles. They were mostly classical garden-style old houses, built beside mountains and rivers, with ponds and pavilions in the garden, and were both retro and exquisite.
Ci Yiyang followed Aunt Chen down the long covered walkway, entering the inner courtyard. From a distance, she could see the elegant and refined old lady with her white hair, sitting in a chair, teasing the birds on her lap.
“Old lady, look who’s here?” Aunt Chen smiled and walked forward, her voice loud because the old woman’s hearing wasn’t what it used to be.
Her grandmother looked up and saw Ci Yiyang walking towards her. The joy in her eyes overflowed. “Yangyang is finally here. Come to your grandmother quickly.”
“Grandmother, are you feeling better?” Ci Yiyang smiled and walked over, sitting on a stool beside her and calling her affectionately.
“I am.” The little old lady stroked her head, asking how she had been lately. Ci Yiyang answered each question.
“Where’s Xiao Luo?” Her grandmother suddenly thought of him and looked behind her, asking, “Didn’t he say he was coming with you today? Why don’t I see him?”
Ci Yiyang lowered her eyes and answered softly, “He went to pay respects to Mother.”
Hearing this, her grandmother’s eyes dimmed. She then sighed. “Since your mother passed away, Xiao Luo has been afraid to come back. Now that he’s going to see Yunyun, he must have moved on. That’s good. It must have been difficult for him.”
Ci Yiyang opened her mouth, but in the end, she lowered her eyes and swallowed the words that were almost on her tongue.
Her grandmother didn’t know that the reason her father came today was to tell her about his plans to marry someone else.
Because her grandmother’s health was poor, no one had told her yet. So she still believed that her father was deeply in love with her mother and treated him like a good son-in-law, unaware that just a few days after her mother’s death, he brought another woman back and the two were even getting married.
“Grandmother, Aunt Chen said your legs have been hurting recently. Are they better now?” Ci Yiyang changed the subject and asked with concern, “Do you want to go to the capital? The cold and damp winters in Hechuan are not good for your legs.”
And the medical environment in Hechuan was far inferior to that of the capital.
Her grandmother shook her head. “Don’t worry, little girl. This is what happens when you get old. I’m very well here. Your grandfather and your mother are both here. I’m not lonely with them, but you, you must take good care of yourself outside. Don’t worry about your grandmother.”
“Okay.” She leaned on her grandmother’s leg, quietly enjoying the tranquility.
After talking with her grandmother for a while, a long table was set up in the courtyard. Luo Lin came over after the cutlery and bowls were placed.
“Mom.” He stood in front of his mother-in-law and bowed respectfully as usual, maintaining a flawless public relationship.
Ci Yiyang sat beside her grandmother, with little expression on her face.
Her grandmother’s legs were inconvenient, so she had Aunt Chen help him up.
“Xiao Luo, you’re here. Come and sit down. The people in the kitchen will be ready soon.”
“Okay, thank you, Mom.” Luo Lin sat down.
Her grandmother kindly asked him how he had been lately, and Luo Lin answered each question. Everything seemed to be the same as before.
When the dishes were all served, before they even picked up their chopsticks, Luo Lin hesitated several times.
“Mom, I have something to tell you.”
Her grandmother was using serving chopsticks to get some food for Ci Yiyang. When she heard him, she looked over. “What is it?”
Luo Lin looked at the old woman’s kind face, struggled for a moment, and then confessed, “I’m planning to remarry. I came to tell you today.”
He said it after all.
Ci Yiyang looked at the man in front of her, her heart completely chilled.
Her grandmother also looked at him and asked, “When?”
Luo Lin: “After the new year.”
“So soon,” her grandmother murmured, suddenly thinking of many years ago.
Back then, she was actually unwilling to let her daughter marry a poor boy, but later, seeing how meticulously he cared for her daughter and how her daughter was willing to marry him, she finally relented.
After they got married, she and her husband gave him everything, and he, as promised, treated her and her husband as if they were his own parents.
Yunyun had just passed, and now he was leaving too.
An old person can’t handle too much sadness. Her grandmother was lost in thought for a while.
“Grandmother.”
Her grandmother came back to her senses, saw the worry in her granddaughter’s eyes, and suppressed the disappointment in her heart. She looked at the man in front of her, sighed softly, leaned back in her chair, and wearily waved her hand.
“I know. Go. Don’t come to see Yunyun anymore. I’ll just pretend you died with her.”
Luo Lin was speechless. He stood up and bowed to her again. “Mom, I’m leaving.”
He didn’t stay for dinner, and no one stopped him.
After Luo Lin left, Ci Yiyang pursed her lips and said with a guilty look in her eyes, “Grandmother, I’m sorry.”
“What are you sorry for, little girl?” Her grandmother pinched her face. “Eat quickly. All these dishes are your favorites from when you were a child.”
Ci Yiyang looked at her grandmother’s head full of white hair, her throat dry. Afraid of bursting into tears if she spoke, she hastily swallowed the food her grandmother gave her.
“Grandmother, don’t be sad. I won’t let him get married after the new year,” she said in a muffled voice that sounded like a child’s petulant remark.
Her grandmother laughed. “Grandmother isn’t sad. I’ve lived most of my life and have seen many things like this. It’s only human for living people to remarry. Besides, what he’s done all these years is enough. He guarded Yunyun for over twenty years, even though Yunyun…”
Perhaps she remembered something, and her grandmother’s voice choked up.
Ci Yiyang quickly hugged her grandmother and couldn’t help but ask, “Grandmother, I never knew how Mother died.”
When her mother died, she was still at school. Everyone said her mother died of an illness, but she had always felt that although her mother’s health had been poor over the years, it wasn’t so bad that she would die like this.
When she asked Luo Lin, he only smoked and didn’t say a word to her.
She had always thought her mother had gotten sick after discovering her father was cheating and was with another woman.
That’s why she hated Lu Lan, hated Lu Jin, and most of all, hated Luo Lin.
“Yunyun, she…” Her grandmother’s throat caught, and tears welled up in her old eyes. “She committed suicide.”
“Suicide…” Ci Yiyang’s expression froze. She looked at her grandmother in a daze, as if she didn’t understand what that meant.
How could her mother have committed suicide?
Her grandmother stroked her blank face, as if she couldn’t bear to tell her. “Your mother had been sick ever since she became pregnant with you. I never expected her to choose to commit suicide.”
Then her grandmother told her about her mother’s past.
In the beginning, her mother’s first love was not her father, but another man. Her grandfather disliked that man for being poor and didn’t agree to them being together, so her mother turned to her father.
No wonder when Luo Lin wasn’t home, her mother would spend the whole day weeping over a pile of old things.
“It’s okay.” Her grandmother wiped the corner of her eyes with a handkerchief and comforted her. “Don’t blame your father, little girl. If he wants to remarry, let him. If you’re not used to it, you can move in and live with your grandmother.”
Ci Yiyang’s voice caught. She held back her emotions, her eyes reddened, and she nodded in a hurry.
“Come on, let’s not talk about this anymore. Eat quickly. The food is getting cold.” Her grandmother said, holding her hand.
After finishing dinner with her grandmother, Ci Yiyang had intended to stay, but she received a call.
Luo Lin had been in a car accident on the way back.
