Sexy Ghost (Lily ABO) - Chapter 7
Xu Jinliang’s complexion improved day by day. When asked what her secret to looking so good was, she replied, “Dreams.”
She was adept at disguise, but deliberate acting always fell short compared to genuine expression. Now, she was radiant, walking briskly, her aura, from within, had transformed from cold and stern to warm.
Feng Yan came to report on work. As she waited, she noticed two jasmine flowers floating in Xu Jinliang’s glass. She uncomfortably lowered her head, and when Xu Jinliang called her, she stood before the desk, her face slightly flushed.
Factory Director Xu went to the workshop again. Feng Yan also put down her work and walked out of the office building. They didn’t meet face to face, much less have a private rendezvous; she simply waited for Xu Jinliang outside the workshop after Xu Jinliang had passed through. Others assumed she was following the Director’s orders, so no gossip spread.
At headquarters, Xu Jinliang was a workaholic, but since coming to the factory, she often left early. She thought the parking lot would be empty at this hour, but saw someone standing near her car. She quickened her steps, calculating the timing to make her facial muscles form a smile, and asked Feng Yan, “What are you doing here?”
Feng Yan handed her a paper-wrapped bundle of dried flowers, saying, “They’re jasmine flowers I grew and dried. They’re for you. My dad used to mix dried jasmine from home with tea and drink it.”
Xu Jinliang’s fingers curled twice by her side before reaching out. “Thank you, that’s very thoughtful of you.”
Feng Yan lingered, looking a little hesitant. Xu Jinliang gazed at her gently for a moment before Feng Yan, blushing, asked, “Have you had anything happy happen recently?”
“Why do you ask?”
Feng Yan wasn’t a young girl, and she considered herself never to have liked women, but Xu Jinliang standing there made her heart flutter. She said, “Nothing, seeing you so cheerful makes me happy too.”
Xu Jinliang took a long stride closer to her and said, “Yes, I’ve had happy things happen recently.” Her genuine smile couldn’t be hidden, her eyes filled with delight. She said, “Because I now possess jasmine flowers.”
Feng Yan indeed subconsciously thought she was referring to herself.
She dazedly touched her hair, which Xu Jinliang had just tidied, and watched her car start and drive away.
As Xu Jinliang drove, she lowered the car window, breathing freely against the wind.
She understood very clearly that the surprise from Feng Yan, while significant, was absolutely not enough to make her feel genuine joy. Any stimulation using those methods was merely temporary. Whether it was tormenting someone or sharply hurting someone, those feelings that pierced the heart would dissipate as the spurting bl00d coagulated.
Although it sounded absurd, and she herself found it absurd, she had to admit it was those ethereal dreams—or more precisely, the white figure in her dreams, whether illusory or a ghost—that she had actively allowed into her heart, stirring up layers of ripples.
She lifted the paper package and unfurled it with one hand, extending her hand out the window, mercilessly letting the wind blow the petals away until even the paper vanished into the wind.
Xu Jinliang’s cheek tightened, and her left hand rubbed against it.
Later, she’d disinfect her hands while washing the car.
As night fell, Xu Jinliang waited for the dream to come as usual.
Indeed, the dream arrived tonight, but it was different from the previous leisurely scenes that had tugged at her heartstrings. The little white flower in the dream was soaking wet, cold, looking at Xu Jinliang, patting her.
“Hey, how are you?”
“Wake up, who are you?”
Xu Jinliang heard her voice and clearly felt her consciousness beginning to awaken, about to break out of the dream. She didn’t want the dream to end like this; she tried hard to speak. Unlike the first time she encountered this scene, this time she felt emotion, a mix of regret and remorse.
Xu Jinliang wanted to say: My name is Xu Jinliang.
But she couldn’t make a sound, and the plot didn’t extend further, merely repeating the cold white little flower looking at her, patting her.
Unable to resist her body waking up, Xu Jinliang gradually pulled away from the dream. She struggled to make a sound: “What’s your name?”
Unfortunately, her voice echoed in her bedroom.
Xu Jinliang didn’t go to work today. The reason? She found it laughable herself: it was because of the dream.
She was like a headless fly, crashing around everywhere, either flipping through books or calling a psychologist. Unable to find an answer, she finally found a geomancer by following a small advertisement on a webpage.
She added the geomancer using a virtual account. The geomancer sent her a price list, and she quickly transferred a significant sum. Immediately, the response was particularly enthusiastic, even pushing several popular “products” to her.
Xu Jinliang ignored the long string of text and images, opened a voice changer, and requested a voice call.
“I’ll speak first, you listen.” She recounted her dream experience to this person. The other side replied, “Hmm, I understand. She’s a ghost!”
Hearing this, Xu Jinliang’s heart sank.
The other side continued, “My analysis is that the girl and her mother died a long time ago, and she, for some reason… As for the reason, I’ll analyze it with you later. For some reason, she’s latched onto you. You killing her mother in your dream should be her altering your memory; in truth, someone else killed them, and they both drowned in the river. You also said that the girl was soaking wet and cold in the end, so she’s a water ghost.”
Xu Jinliang: “Tell me the reason now.”
“Hmm… Sir/Madam, please tell me your birth date and time.”
Xu Jinliang was impatient. “Don’t know, don’t have it.”
“Sir/Madam, rest assured, I will absolutely not disclose client information.”
Xu Jinliang exhaled sharply, saying, “I genuinely don’t know!” Her birth date on her ID was not her actual birth date, so she didn’t even know her own birthday.
The other side didn’t get discouraged, suddenly exclaiming, “Ah! I’ve calculated with my fingers, it must be that you, Sir/Madam, have recently been afflicted with bad luck. Your fortune is low, your vital energy is insufficient, which is why the water ghost has latched onto you. Have you been near water recently?”
Xu Jinliang thought back. She had been so distraught by Cai Hua’s matter, where would she have gone near water? Her tone was cold and hard, “No, does the restroom count?”
“Counts, counts, of course it counts. Oh dear, I have a set of luck-changing talismans here. We are destined, so I won’t overcharge you. A set is 3888, comes with an evil-warding mirror…”
Xu Jinliang couldn’t bear it any longer and hung up the call.
She immediately deleted the virtual account, and in a fit of pique, smashed her phone. She felt as if she was pushed to the edge of the cliff again, her right fingers trembling violently as she tapped her forehead, her left hand still clenching and unclenching repeatedly in front of her lower abdomen.
Her lips moved rapidly, mumbling something unknown. She was extremely agitated, pacing quickly around the room.
Time passed by minute by minute. Suddenly, she abruptly looked up at the clock. The person on the brink of madness suddenly revealed a strange smile. “It’s noon. I should take a nap.”
She stopped pacing and stood upright, taking a deep breath. Her lips curved into a deeper smile. She took a step, intending to wash up. It was time for a beautiful nap.
Knock, knock, knock. Her room door was knocked on.
Xu Jinliang’s face turned cold as she went to open the door. When she opened it, she found it was Feng Yan, which made Xu Jinliang’s expression even worse.
Feng Yan was also startled by her state. The always perfect Xu Jinliang had messy hair, extremely red eyes, and a terrifying expression. She stammered, “You didn’t come to work and didn’t notify anyone beforehand. I, we were all very worried about you. I called you, but you didn’t answer… I asked Mr. Wei for your address, and he permitted me, oh, he sent me to check on you, to see if you were feeling unwell.”
“Get out.”
Feng Yan was dumbfounded. She wasn’t an ignorant girl anymore and knew what Xu Jinliang’s previous actions towards her had meant. She had thought…
Whether from fright or sudden sadness, tears immediately welled up in Feng Yan’s eyes.
This made Xu Jinliang even more agitated. “I said GET OUT! Everyone get out! Tell them not to bother me!” Her outburst wasn’t like a typical emotional release; her roar carried strong hostility and warning. Those tender peach blossom eyes were now like a monster, a monster baring its fangs, “Don’t bother me, don’t come looking for me again, while I still have patience.”
Feng Yan had no idea that Xu Jinliang had just walked a circle on the edge of life and death. She only thought Xu Jinliang was crazy, unpredictable. This person was too sick and she definitely needed to stay away from her. She held back her tears, gave Xu Jinliang one last look filled with sadness and despair, and then angrily left.
Xu Jinliang slammed the door shut, looking at the door panel, gritting her teeth and muttering, “Not my jasmine, not my jasmine, not my jasmine…”
She punched her head repeatedly, trying to clear her mind.
She was so close to reaping the rewards. No, the current situation was forced ripening. She had done it; she had thrown a happy person into disappointment, then given her hope and warmth, and then made her experience an even deeper despair than before.
Now she should be happy, she should be joyful. Feng Yan’s performance was clearly brilliant, so why did she feel so annoyed?!
She slowly, inch by inch, turned her head to look at the bedroom.
Right, it’s time to sleep. I need to go to sleep.
