She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 15
After dinner at the Fu family’s ancestral home, Aunt Fu Jingya suggested playing mahjong. Everyone happily agreed.
Madam Fu, Fu Jingya, Xue Ciyan, and Fu Jingsheng sat down to play mahjong. Meanwhile, Old Master Fu, Zhou Cheng, and Fu Jinghai chatted casually in the living room.
Fu Yinxuan and Zhou Yahuan were off to the side, engrossed in a mobile game, while Fu Qin was reading a book intently.
The only one unoccupied was Shen Yilan, who sat on the couch swinging her short legs absentmindedly as she watched a TV program featuring entertainment interviews.
“Mrs. Shen, we heard your daughter has passed away. Please accept our condolences.”
“I never expected this to happen. She was only six years old this year. It’s my fault for not keeping an eye on her. She got playful, ran out of the car, and… fate is cruel. She happened to run to a place where an explosion occurred…”
“Mrs. Shen, stay strong. We believe your daughter wouldn’t want to see you sad.”
“I know. I believe she’s happy in another world now.”
“Who is this young lady with you?”
“Oh, this is the daughter of a close friend of mine. I recently adopted her as my goddaughter. She’s obedient and considerate. She told me she would take care of me in place of my unfortunate daughter. My daughter will always live in my heart…”
Shen Yilan watched the interview on TV, a faint smile on her lips, though her eyes remained cold.
Jiang Ziyan, what a dear ‘best friend’.
In her past life, she met Jiang Ziyan at eight and saw through her at eighteen. Sometimes she even doubted whether Jiang Ziyan was the real daughter of her parents. Well, perhaps it wasn’t impossible—after all, she wasn’t the biological daughter of the Shen family.
Mrs. Shen is really something! What a story. Claiming I was playing around and ran out of the car? Such an imagination! Not only that, she pushed all the blame on me. Tsk.
Fu Yinxuan heard the interview, glanced at the TV, then looked at Shen Yilan. His curiosity about the Shen family and her story only deepened.
“Sigh, that little girl from the Shen family is really pitiful. Her mother wasted no time accepting interviews after the news of her death, milking the tragedy for attention. Truly squeezing it for all it’s worth,” Aunt Fu Jingya remarked as she played mahjong.
“Exactly. I heard Mrs. Shen left her daughter with the Shen family’s old lady after giving birth and only brought her back last year.
“But none of us have ever seen that child. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all fake. Maybe she never actually brought the child back,” Second Sister-in-law Xue Ciyan chimed in.
“Poor girl, and she was only a few years old,” Madam Fu sighed.
“The Shen family sure knows how to keep secrets. They’ve done such a good job that no one even knows the child’s name. Not even the paparazzi, who keep an eye on them day and night, have found a single clue,” Fu Jingya added.
“Shen Yilan,” Shen Yilan said suddenly, looking at the TV with a faint smile.
“Uh…”
The entire Fu family fell silent. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at her.
Shen Yilan turned her head, her sweet smile lighting up her face. “Shen Yilan. Their child’s name is Shen Yilan.”
Fu Jingsheng frowned slightly. He got up, walked over to Shen Yilan, and squatted down in front of her. Looking her in the eyes, he asked, “You’re saying the Shen family’s child is named Shen Yilan? Are you the daughter of the woman on TV?”
Shen Yilan met his gaze and nodded with a smile. “Yes…”
“You said your parents abandoned you, but the Mrs. Shen on TV said you died in an explosion. Do you know what’s going on? Don’t lie to Uncle. I know you’re very smart,” Fu Jingsheng said seriously.
