She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 16
Shen Yilan nodded and smiled, saying, “I know everything, but I also know nothing.”
Fu Jingsheng looked at Shen Yilan with a deep gaze. He had known from the beginning that this child was very smart, not just ordinary smart. She knew exactly what kind of clothes she liked to wear. When she asked to go to elementary school, he had figured it out.
“Steward, take the servants downstairs to rest,” Fu Jingsheng ordered.
After everyone left, only the Fu family remained.
“Tell us. Uncle hopes you’ll be honest with us. Trust me, whatever difficulties you have, I will help you,” Fu Jingsheng said gently.
The Fu family all sat on the sofas, watching Shen Yilan. At that moment, they all felt there was something secret about her.
Shen Yilan didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she looked at Fu Yinxuan. Fu Yinxuan froze for a moment. What was Shen Yilan looking at him for?
Shen Yilan smiled and said, “I was abandoned. Do you remember the clothes I was wearing that day?”
Fu Jingsheng recalled that she had been wearing what looked like hospital clothes when they first met. He had thought she was a child who had escaped from a psychiatric hospital.
“I wasn’t from a psychiatric hospital. I escaped from a very secretive research institute near one. A year ago, Mrs. Shen took me in and gave me a bottle of milk with drugs in it. When I woke up, I was in the research institute. I spent 365 days there, enduring research and torture. Then one day, there was an explosion at the institute, and I was lucky enough to escape. That’s when I met you,” Shen Yilan said vaguely, not revealing what she had been subjected to in the institute.
“Why? Why would they send such a young child for research?” Xue Ciyan, Fu Jingsheng’s second sister-in-law, asked in confusion.
Shen Yilan shook her head and said, “I don’t know, but I know one thing—I’m not the biological daughter of the Shen family.”
That one sentence shocked the Fu family.
She’s not even their real daughter?
“How do you know?” Fu Yinxuan instinctively asked.
Shen Yilan gave him a meaningful look and replied, “I overheard it. Although I don’t know who my real parents are, I’m sure Mr. and Mrs. Shen know them. Beyond that, I don’t know anything else… and I can’t say more.”
“What a poor child! From now on, you’re a member of the Fu family. No one will ever bully you again,” Mr. Fu said with a mix of anger and sorrow. He was furious with the Shen couple for sending such a young child for research.
With that, the conversation ended. No one asked further questions, only thinking about how to treat the child better in the future. After all, children are angels sent by heaven, meant to be cherished and loved.
On the way back home, Fu Jingsheng remained silent, and Fu Yinxuan didn’t speak either. Shen Yilan stared out of the car window at the moonlit night. By confessing everything to the Fu family, her main goal was to let the Shen family know she was still alive. Once they received the news, the Shen family would likely try to either take her back or eliminate her. When that happened, she could follow the trail and investigate further, eventually uncovering the person behind it all.
Even if she hadn’t confessed, with the Fu family’s power, they could have found out anyway. It was better for her to say it herself.
Fu Yinxuan glanced at Shen Yilan, who seemed lost in thought. He remembered how she had looked at him at the Fu family’s house earlier. At that moment, he had already realized that Shen Yilan had been reborn. Not only that, but she also knew that he had been reborn. Shen Yilan… must be hiding even bigger secrets.
