She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 26
Even so, Fu Yinxuan’s suspicions were not easily put to rest.
“It’s nothing. I just thought you weren’t asleep. See, you’re fine now. Go ahead and get some rest,” Fu Yinxuan said, giving Shen Yilan a deep look.
Shen Yilan nodded lazily and said, “Goodnight, brother.”
“Goodnight,” Fu Yinxuan replied, then closed the door to her room behind him.
Standing outside her door, Fu Yinxuan stared at the closed door. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Shen Yilan hadn’t really been in her room just now. But, she had opened the door and was standing right in front of him.
Back in her bed, Shen Yilan looked toward the door. She knew Fu Yinxuan was starting to have doubts about her, but so what? She had opened the door and stood in front of him.
Fu Jingsheng came upstairs with a thermos in hand and saw Fu Yinxuan standing at Shen Yilan’s door. He frowned slightly and said, “What are you doing standing here? Go back to your room and write your self-reflection!”
Fu Yinxuan: He and self-reflections were sworn enemies!
The next morning, Fu Yinxuan, with dark circles under his eyes, came downstairs for breakfast. By then, Fu Jingsheng and Shen Yilan were already sitting in the dining room eating.
“Dad, good morning,” Fu Yinxuan said weakly.
Shen Yilan looked up at him and smiled, “Good morning, brother!”
Fu Yinxuan thought: “Good morning, my foot! If it weren’t for you, would I have to write a self-reflection? Would I have stayed up until two in the morning?”
The Fu family had rules: breakfast must be eaten early in the morning, lunch must be on time, and dinner should be finished before 8 PM.
If it weren’t for this rule, Fu Yinxuan wouldn’t have woken up so early with dark circles under his eyes on a Sunday.
“Good morning…” Even though he was upset, Fu Yinxuan still responded, his upbringing and manners making it impossible not to do so.
At that moment, the TV in the living room was broadcasting a news report.
“Last night, two bodies were found on the side of the road opposite the south gate of the Huangzhen Huating residential area in S City. The police preliminarily determined that both victims died from having their throats slashed with a knife. However, they also had multiple knife wounds. The coroner’s preliminary examination indicates that the victims were brutally tortured by the killer for over half an hour before they died…”
Upon hearing this, both Fu Yinxuan and Fu Jingsheng turned to look at the TV, each lost in their own thoughts.
Fu Jingsheng’s brow furrowed as he looked at the car and license plate number on the news report. He had sent his assistant to handle the situation last night, but his assistant hadn’t found the person following him. Fu Jingsheng had entered through the north gate while driving with Shen Yilan, so it made sense that the assistant hadn’t found anyone. The person who had been tailing him must have gone to the south gate instead.
But now the news reported that the person who was following him had been killed. Was someone helping him from behind? Or had these two people offended someone else?
Fu Yinxuan immediately turned his attention to Shen Yilan, who was eating her breakfast, seemingly unconcerned. His instinct told him that this incident was directly related to her. However, Shen Yilan had been at home, asleep in her room last night, so it didn’t make sense.
Shen Yilan ignored Fu Yinxuan’s scrutinizing gaze. She knew he was deeply suspicious of her, but what could he do? She had been at home, and he would never figure it out.
“Dad, don’t you think this news is eerily similar to the one from when you were in Japan?” Fu Yinxuan looked at Shen Yilan, then turned to Fu Jingsheng.
After hearing Fu Yinxuan’s words, Fu Jingsheng suddenly had a flash of insight. He now saw the connection between the two news stories. They were indeed very similar. This was strange. It seemed the victims in both cases were people who had been following him or trying to kill him. Fu Jingsheng was becoming more convinced that someone was secretly helping him. But who could it be?
