She Came From Hell - Chapter 3
Shen Yilan listened to their conversation, her heart filled with shock. She was that person’s child? What did that mean? Was she not her parents’ daughter? And who was that person? What kind of abilities did they possess?
As the sound of footsteps faded away, Shen Yilan opened her eyes again, disbelief written all over her face.
So, there really was something inside her that everyone desperately wanted—no, maybe it was some kind of energy?
But in her past life, she didn’t feel any different from others. Or did she?
Shen Yilan paused at the thought. Maybe there was something. Occasionally, strange and unfamiliar images would flash through her mind. Then, days or even hours later, she would see those exact scenes happen in real life.
But it had only occurred two or three times when she was in middle school. She brushed it off as a coincidence and never thought much about it.
There was another strange thing: a couple of times, something she said offhandedly would later come true.
Thinking about it now made her uneasy.
Were they researching these “coincidences” of hers?
Or did she actually have the ability to foresee the future or make her words come true? Impossible! In today’s world of science and logic, such things were too far-fetched to believe.
Yet, deep down, she hoped these abilities were real. If she truly had such powers, they would give her an edge on her path to revenge.
She didn’t plan to run away. She knew she couldn’t escape. At only five years old, even if she had been her eighteen-year-old self in her past life, she still wouldn’t have been able to get out.
The research facility was full of traps, secret doors, and heavily armed mercenaries guarding the place.
Even if escape was possible, she wouldn’t leave. She needed to stay and find out what they were doing and what made her different.
This time, when she heard footsteps approaching, she didn’t bother pretending to be asleep. She sat calmly on the cold mechanical bed, staring at the door.
The door opened, and a middle-aged man in a white coat and glasses walked in. His face bore a scar that ran down the left side, visible even with the mask covering his mouth.
“You’re awake? You don’t seem scared at all.” The man looked slightly surprised. A child this young, in a strange place without her parents, yet so calm? Truly, she was that person’s child.
Shen Yilan’s demeanor only fueled the man’s curiosity and desire to study her.
“Well then, since you’re awake, let’s begin. Come in, everyone!” As soon as the man finished speaking, a group of young people in white coats entered.
They lifted Shen Yilan and placed her onto a mechanical chair. They took a helmet-like device from the side, placing it on her head. Then they stuck electrodes to various points on her head, chest, and other parts of her body, connecting them to machines.
Finally, they restrained her hands and feet with cuffs on the chair.
Shen Yilan didn’t resist. She had experienced death before, even the humiliation of her corpse being violated. What could possibly frighten her now?
As the machines whirred to life, pain surged through Shen Yilan’s body—electric shocks from the machines and needles from the helmet piercing into her scalp.
The agony made her whole body tense, her fists clenching tightly. Yet, despite the unbearable pain, she didn’t scream, shout, or shed a single tear.
