She Came From Hell - Chapter 4
Shen Yilan endured 365 days of relentless torment, watching the growing greed in the eyes of those around her.
She counted the days in her mind: one day, two days, three days… 365 days.
During this time, she became acutely aware of the changes in her body and understood their purpose for studying her.
They wanted to extract her abilities for their own use—precognition and word manipulation—two powers that could alter destiny.
Over the year, Shen Yilan learned from their conversations that an even larger organization was behind them.
During this year of captivity, she gradually gained control over her two strange yet familiar abilities. Ironically, it was thanks to her captors’ relentless efforts to awaken her powers through endless experiments and torture.
Besides precognition and word manipulation, Shen Yilan discovered a new ability she had never exhibited before: telekinesis.
Each day, after her captors left, she practiced tirelessly, honing her skills.
Now that she knew everything she needed to, there was no reason to stay.
Using her knowledge of the facility’s layout from her past life, she made her move. When the staff went to lunch, Shen Yilan used telekinesis to extract an access card from a researcher’s pocket.
Holding the card, she glanced back at the lab she had been trapped in for a year. A smirk crossed her lips. What a shame to leave it behind.
With the card, she exited the lab, stopping briefly to look at the surveillance camera at the door. She gave it a small, knowing smile.
She made her way, unhurried, to a specific room in the facility. This room…
Well, she thought, these people must have been out of their minds to install a detonation device here. Weren’t they just digging their own graves?
Shen Yilan swiped the card and entered the room. Inside was a massive machine, monitored by a single guard.
The guard, startled to see her, immediately reached for a radio to report her presence. Shen Yilan acted swiftly. She climbed onto a chair, lunged at the guard, and with precision, slashed his carotid artery using the access card.
Bl00d sprayed everywhere, staining her pale, delicate face and the hospital gown she wore.
Shen Yilan watched as the guard clutched his throat, convulsing briefly before falling still.
She chuckled coldly. “You should feel honored. You’re the first soul I’ve claimed.”
Turning to the enormous machine, she pulled a chair closer, climbed onto it, and began operating the control panel. When the screen displayed a five-minute countdown, her lips curved into a smile.
Jumping off the chair, Shen Yilan casually walked away, heading for the exit. Along the way, every surveillance camera she encountered was destroyed with a flick of her mind.
At the four-minute, thirty-second mark, she reached the exit. She wiped the bl00d-stained access card on her hospital gown, stood on tiptoe, and swiped the card.
The door opened, and sunlight poured in, blinding her momentarily. After a year in captivity, it took a moment to adjust to the brightness.
The sound of alarms blaring from within the facility filled her ears, bringing her satisfaction. She stepped outside, watching the door slowly close behind her. Turning forward, she continued walking.
Thirty seconds later, exactly five minutes from when the countdown began, a massive explosion erupted behind her.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk,” Shen Yilan mused, shaking her head. “Not a single one escaped. How useless. I even gave them a head start with a thirty-second warning. Such a waste of my goodwill.”
Without looking back, she walked away from the destruction, the corners of her mouth curling into a faint smile.
