She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 55
Fu Yinxuan was nearly driven mad by the decade-long serial murder case. It had drained him mentally and physically, and he was on the verge of losing his mind.
The detectives in the major crimes unit had no clues as to who the killer was. There wasn’t a single trace of the murderer, and that made the situation even more frustrating.
Fu Yinxuan sat in his office, looking at the case files of over ten incidents spread out on his desk. His face was grim, and only he knew the real suspect. All these cases had one thing in common—they were somehow related to Fu Jingsheng. Either they were connected to people who had a grudge against him, or enemies sent killers to target him.
But he had no evidence. On top of that, Fu Yilan had solid alibis for the times each of these incidents occurred, with many witnesses who could vouch for her.
He had his suspicions that Fu Yilan might be the killer, but it was impossible. She couldn’t have possibly traveled between two locations so quickly. Each crime scene was far from where Fu Yilan was at the time, and even by car, it would take at least an hour or two to get there.
He couldn’t believe that someone could instantly appear at two places—it wasn’t like some fantasy drama. It was absurd.
However, when he thought about it carefully, the only thing that made sense was instant transportation. There seemed to be no other explanation that would prove Fu Yilan was the killer.
Fu Yinxuan rubbed his temples with a sigh, feeling drained. He was tired. Maybe it was time to let everything go.
Sometimes, he wondered if his instincts were even right. Was it possible that the killer was someone else? Had he developed a bias against Fu Yilan because he thought she had changed so much since her rebirth?
Could it be that he had wrongly suspected Fu Yilan, and in reality, she wasn’t the killer?
The murder case at the abandoned factory had been DNA tested, but no matching or even similar DNA was found. There were no leads connecting the killer to anything. Where could they possibly find the murderer in this vast sea of people?
Fu Yinxuan picked up his water cup and took a sip.
Even though he didn’t think Fu Yilan was the one, he still deeply suspected it. The situation left him conflicted.
“Mr. Fu, the daughter of the Shen family, Shen Ziyan, transferred to S City last month and is now in the same class as Miss. A few days later, the Shen family released photos of Miss from her childhood. I’m afraid the Shen family has already started suspecting that Miss is actually Shen Yilan,” Fu Jingsheng’s assistant said.
“Looks like the Shen family has their eyes on Xiao Lan. Tell the branch office to step up their efforts to suppress the Shen family. Send people to keep an eye on them. If anything suspicious comes up, notify me immediately. No one can calculate my daughter, Fu Jingsheng’s daughter,” Fu Jingsheng replied.
Fu Jingsheng had also been paying attention to some online discussions. After taking over the Fu family’s business for so many years, he had seen all sorts of people. How could he not see through what the Shen family was up to?
They just wanted to confirm that Fu Yilan was actually Shen Yilan, and then use Fu Yilan to manipulate him, the father famous for doting on his daughter, into helping the Shen family’s company.
The Shen family’s downfall was his doing. How could he possibly help revive them?
“Mr. Fu, a few days ago, you asked us to secretly protect Miss. We’ve received news that recently, Miss has been followed by some extremely mysterious people. These individuals are clearly targeting Miss. We’ve investigated, but there’s no information about them. We fear they are not here with good intentions,” the assistant continued.
Fu Jingsheng’s face darkened. How could so many people be targeting Xiao Lan?
“Tell them to continue monitoring. If they find that Xiao Lan is in danger, her safety must come first,” Fu Jingsheng ordered.
“Understood, Mr. Fu.”
