She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 59
After Fu Yilan dropped Qi Xiyao off at home, she called for the driver to pick her up. When she returned to the Fu household, she found both Fu Yinxuan and Fu Jingsheng there.
“Dad, Brother,” Fu Yilan called out.
Fu Yinxuan and Fu Jingsheng turned their heads at the same time when they heard her voice.
“You’re back? I heard from the driver that you went to the Qi family’s old mansion for dinner today. How was it?” Fu Jingsheng asked with concern.
“I couldn’t enjoy the meal at all. Old Mrs. Qi really opened my eyes,” Fu Yilan replied with a smile.
Fu Jingsheng and Fu Yinxuan exchanged a glance. They were both somewhat familiar with Old Mrs. Qi’s character, so it seemed like the meal hadn’t gone well.
“I’ll warm up your food. We just finished eating not long ago,” Fu Yinxuan said, standing up and heading toward the kitchen.
“Thanks, Brother…” Fu Yilan smiled.
“There’s no need to be so polite, we’re family!” Fu Yinxuan’s voice came from the kitchen.
When Fu Yilan heard this, she paused for a moment. Family? Wasn’t the whole point of changing her life path and becoming a police officer to catch me and bring me to justice?
While talking about being family, they’ve already decided that I’m the murderer, closely watching my every move. What a “happy” family this is!
“Come sit down. Your brother’s been working hard at the police station. It’s rare that we get time to sit together as a family. By the way, that nationwide, even internationally known, serial murder case—your brother’s been following it ever since he became a police officer. That murderer is something else, isn’t he? After all these years, he still hasn’t been caught, leaving not a single trace behind. It’s really shaken everyone. Don’t always complain that I’m being too talkative. Even if you’re a capable girl, facing off against that murderer, you might not stand a chance. You should still bring someone with you when you go out. Or, should I hire a bodyguard for you?”
Fu Jingsheng was truly worried about Fu Yilan. After all, the serial killer didn’t follow any pattern, and he was afraid Fu Yilan might get targeted. But Fu Yilan was so stubborn. Every time he asked her not to go out alone, she just wouldn’t listen.
Even if he sent people to secretly protect her, what if something really happened and they weren’t around in time?
He thought that hiring a bodyguard would ensure Fu Yilan’s safety and ease his mind.
“Dad, you’re thinking too much. I’m Fu Sanye’s daughter. Who would dare to harm me? Besides, my brother is the head of the criminal police team. Who would be foolish enough to challenge him?” Fu Yilan replied helplessly.
Fu Jingsheng couldn’t help but feel frustrated when he saw her nonchalant attitude.
“It’s not that I’m overthinking, it’s about safety. The killer isn’t afraid to kill. Why would he be afraid of me or the police? If he were afraid of the police, he wouldn’t be committing crimes in the first place.”
“Don’t you trust your daughter’s abilities? My brother can’t even beat me. Your worries are really unnecessary. My brother is over 1.8 meters tall, but I can knock him down with one move. You really don’t need to worry so much,” Fu Yilan said while playing with her phone on the sofa.
“Ahem, give your brother some face. The food’s ready, hurry up and eat!” Fu Yinxuan walked out after bringing the food to the dining room.
Fu Yilan stood up and walked to the dining room to sit down and eat.
“By the way, Dad, do you think it’s possible for someone to instantly travel from one place to another, no matter how far the distance?”
Fu Yinxuan, sitting in the living room, glanced at Fu Yilan, who was eating in the dining room. He didn’t try to lower his voice as he spoke.
