She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 61
“Alian! Tomorrow’s Christmas, let’s spend it together!” Qi Xiyao looked at Fu Yilan with expectant eyes. Her clear and innocent gaze touched something deep inside Fu Yilan.
“I’m busy,” Fu Yilan replied coldly, avoiding Qi Xiyao’s eyes. She didn’t dare to look at her, and she wasn’t sure what she was running from.
Qi Xiyao’s head drooped with disappointment.
“Alright then…”
In the past, she would always insist on spending the holidays with Alian, but this time, it seemed her efforts were in vain. Over the past two months, Alian had become colder toward her. Despite her careful attempts, she could feel Alian deliberately distancing herself.
Could it be that she had been too obvious, that Alian had noticed her feelings and found them disgusting? That’s why she was pushing her away?
She never wanted it to be like this.
When she was seven, at that banquet, she met eight-year-old Alian, and from that moment, she knew she would fall for him in this lifetime.
So, she gathered her courage and asked to be friends with Alian, then she continuously followed him, always standing by his side as his friend.
Her studies weren’t great, but she knew Alian had always been at the top. So, she worked hard—while others played, she studied. While others discussed where to travel during the holidays, she stayed at home studying. Even when there were performances, she never let her studies fall behind—all so she could stand shoulder to shoulder with Alian, be on the same level, and be worthy of him.
Christmas happened to fall on a Saturday.
Fu Yilan spent the entire day at home. She either read the news, searched for information online, or sat on the balcony sipping tea, enjoying the winter breeze.
Fu Yinxuan had gone to the police station early in the morning, and Fu Jingsheng had gone to the company.
“Hello? Xiao Lan! Has Xiyao been with you?”
In the afternoon, while Fu Yilan was looking through some documents, she received a call from Mrs. Qi.
“No, I’m at home,” Fu Yilan answered calmly.
“No? Xiyao said she was going to buy Christmas gifts for you after lunch. I was about to call her to ask if she’d be home for dinner, but I couldn’t reach her. So, I’m calling you. She’s not with you? That’s strange… What if something’s happened to her?” Mrs. Qi’s voice grew increasingly worried.
Fu Yilan furrowed her brows. Didn’t she tell Qi Xiyao yesterday that she was busy?
“What time did she leave?”
“Probably around 1 p.m.,” Mrs. Qi replied after thinking for a moment.
Fu Yilan glanced at the time on her computer. It was already past 4, almost 5. It only takes about half an hour by car from the Qi family’s place to the Fu family’s.
“Don’t worry, I’ll go look for her.”
After hanging up, Fu Yilan grabbed a coat from her closet and left the room.
“Miss, are you going out?” the maid asked when she saw Fu Yilan preparing to leave.
“Mm, if Dad or Brother come back, tell them I went out for something,” Fu Yilan said before heading out the door.
She first had the driver take her to several places Qi Xiyao often visited, but after searching, there was no sign of her anywhere.
Fu Yilan felt a sudden panic rise inside her. Sitting in the car, her expression remained neutral, but inside, she was already frantic.
Suddenly, a few images flashed through her mind. She saw Qi Xiyao locked in what looked like a warehouse, sitting on a chair, her hands and feet bound, her mouth taped shut, and her eyes covered with a black cloth.
There were several people standing near her in the image. Fu Yilan recognized them—those were the same people who had been following her recently, sent by that mysterious organization.
