She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 65
“I understand,” Fu Yilan said after a brief silence.
She knew exactly what Mrs. Qi was implying, and she understood that Qi Xiyao had feelings for her. Honestly, even if she didn’t admit it, it was still a fact—she also had feelings for Qi Xiyao. But she couldn’t.
After the surgery, they moved Qi Xiyao to a different room. Fu Yilan sat on the couch in the hospital room while Mr. and Mrs. Qi stayed by Qi Xiyao’s bedside, watching over her as she slept.
The room was eerily silent, with no one speaking.
About half an hour later, Qi Xiyao slowly woke up. She opened her eyes and felt the pain in her shoulder. Frowning, she remembered what had happened earlier.
“Alian! Alian, where are you?” Qi Xiyao’s first instinct was to call for Fu Yilan. Her voice was hoarse from thirst and echoed through the quiet room.
Mr. and Mrs. Qi smiled with relief when they saw Qi Xiyao waking up.
“Xiyao, you’re awake! Are you thirsty? Let me get you some water,” Mrs. Qi immediately said.
Qi Xiyao turned her head to see her parents, and tears started streaming down her face. Today had been terrifying. She had almost thought she was going to die.
“Mom… I… I almost couldn’t see you again… sob I was so scared, so scared…” she cried.
Mrs. Qi, filled with heartache, reached out to wipe away Qi Xiyao’s tears. She gently said, “It’s okay, it’s okay. Don’t cry, sweetie. Don’t go out alone anymore, alright?”
Qi Xiyao nodded softly, still crying. “Where’s Alian?”
Mrs. Qi glanced at Fu Yilan, who was sitting on the sofa across the room, then looked back at Qi Xiyao and said, “She’s over there. Come, drink some water first. Are you hungry? Mom and Dad will go get you something to eat, okay?” She helped Qi Xiyao sit up and fed her half a cup of warm water.
After Qi Xiyao drank, she nodded and then turned her head to look at Fu Yilan, who was sitting with her eyes closed on the couch.
Seeing this, Mr. and Mrs. Qi discreetly left the room and closed the door behind them.
“Alian…” Qi Xiyao called softly.
Fu Yilan opened her eyes and looked at Qi Xiyao, her tone indifferent as she said, “We’ve only been friends for many years. There’s no need for you to risk your life for me. It’s not worth it.”
Qi Xiyao froze for a moment. What did Alian mean? Not worth it? Then, the conversation Fu Yilan had with those men in the warehouse flashed through her mind.
“Alian, I don’t understand. What do you mean, not worth it?” Qi Xiyao actually understood everything, but she didn’t want to.
Fu Yilan looked at Qi Xiyao, and each word she spoke pierced Qi Xiyao’s heart like a knife.
“I know how you feel about me, and that’s why I say it’s not worth it. You’re a girl, and I’m a girl. There’s a deep gap between us, and it’s destined to never be.
Even if you don’t mind, I do. You need to understand that your feelings for me aren’t accepted by society. And I only see you as a friend, a sister.”
In that instant, Qi Xiyao’s heart ached unbearably. Her eyes were red, filled with tears, and her gaze was full of disappointment and sorrow. Had she been rejected?
Had she been rejected before even confessing her feelings? Why? She had always felt that Alian cared about her too, that Alian treated her differently…
So, from the beginning, she had been fooling herself!
“Alian… why?” Qi Xiyao’s tears ran down her cheeks, dripping onto the blanket. Sadness filled her heart.
