- Chapter 77 - Can I Take Back What I Just Said? Is It Too Late?
“There is a virus, but it’s two years later. I’m not sure. I saw a news report about it two months before I died, but it hadn’t spread to this extent yet. It was just some isolated incidents of people attacking others,” Fu Yinxuan said.
Fu Yilan furrowed her brows. Could it be because she’s still alive? Her life path had changed, and she had been investigating that organization… So, did she push them into a corner?
“It’s probably because I disrupted their plan. They rushed to spread the virus earlier than they intended.”
Fu Yinxuan thought for a moment. That seemed to be the only possible explanation.
“Are you the serial killer? I know it’s you, but I want to hear you say it yourself.”
Fu Yinxuan stared intently at Fu Yilan. Even though he knew it was her, a part of him still hoped it wasn’t.
After all, they had been living together as siblings for so many years. There had to be some feelings involved.
Fu Yilan looked into his eyes and, after a moment of silence, firmly said, “Yes…”
Fu Yinxuan didn’t say anything else, nor did he ask her why. He knew it had something to do with their father and himself. There were over a dozen cases, two of which were related to him, and the rest to their father.
The two that involved him were one where he had been chasing a criminal, and he was injured by a shot in his carelessness. The criminal took advantage of that moment to escape.
The other was a triple homicide case he was in charge of. The criminal drugged a girl, took her away, then sexually abused and murdered her, dumping her body in the mountains afterward. It was a severe case that harmed societal values.
Although they had gathered information on the suspect and even discovered there were multiple offenders, they could never find concrete evidence. The criminal was a repeat offender, skilled at evading detection, leaving no traces. The police had no way of arresting them.
As for those who were connected to their father, they either threatened his life or secretly plotted against him, or were involved in business rivalries targeting him.
Fu Yinxuan understood that Fu Yilan’s actions were to protect him, but why did she have to do it this way?
In the end, once the police found the tiniest piece of evidence, they would be able to trace it back to her and capture her. Then she would spend the rest of her life in prison.
Wait, no. How did Fu Yilan kill those people without anyone noticing?
She always had an alibi, and the distances were so great—how could she have reached them so quickly? Even if she could fly, it would be impossible to arrive that fast, right?
“How did you manage to get to those places so quickly to kill them?” Fu Yinxuan’s curiosity was piqued.
“I have special abilities. So, you’ll never catch me,” Fu Yilan said with a light laugh. She wasn’t afraid he would know; she wasn’t worried about him recording her either, because Fu Yinxuan wouldn’t do that.
Besides, now that the virus has spread, and zombies are everywhere, her abilities were hidden. The people here wouldn’t survive for long anyway.
Fu Yinxuan was stunned. Did he just hear that right? Special abilities? Has the world become this fantastical?
Could she be making up a story to trick him? But there was no other explanation that fit all the crime scenes.
“Alright. I’ll keep your secret,” Fu Yinxuan said heavily. This huge secret—he would keep it safe.
“No need,” Fu Yilan replied indifferently. “The virus is out, zombies are everywhere, and my abilities are hidden. The people here won’t last much longer.”
Fu Yinxuan: Can I take back what I just said? Is it too late?
