She Came From Hell (GL) - Chapter 8
Fu Jingsheng heard a sound and glanced at Shen Yilan. When he saw her damp hair, his brows furrowed slightly.
“Come and eat breakfast. Afterward, I’ll dry your hair for you.”
Shen Yilan paused for a moment. They had only just met—why was Fu Jingsheng being so kind to her?
He seemed to care about every little thing. Yet her parents, whom she had lived with for years, and her friends and fiancé, whom she had known for so long…
“Thank you, Uncle,” she said softly.
As they ate breakfast, a servant’s voice interrupted them.
“Young Master, Sir is awake and having breakfast.”
Shen Yilan turned her head to see a boy, about fifteen years old, walking toward them. He sat down next to her, looking entirely unbothered by her presence.
“Dad, the servants told me you brought a kid home. I thought they were joking. Turns out they weren’t.” The boy glanced at Shen Yilan and spoke matter-of-factly.
“She’s Shen Yilan. From now on, she’s your little sister. Don’t scare her,” Fu Jingsheng said as he placed a small steamed bun in Shen Yilan’s bowl. “Eat up. You’ve slept for so long without eating—you don’t want to get sick.”
“It’s just a little kid. Look at her—she’s skin and bones. I could lift her with one hand. Bullying her would be beneath me,” the boy scoffed.
Shen Yilan thought to herself, Wow, you’re pretty cocky, aren’t you?
Fu Jingsheng gave the boy a sharp look, a silent warning to behave.
“Uncle, I’m full!” Shen Yilan said after finishing the steamed bun in her bowl and taking a sip of milk.
Fu Jingsheng noticed the glass was still half full and said, “Finish your milk.”
Shen Yilan frowned. She really didn’t like plain milk—it had no flavor.
But in the end, she gave in, holding the cup with a scrunched-up face and reluctantly finishing it.
Only then did Fu Jingsheng take her upstairs to dry her hair.
The boy watched Shen Yilan leave, a thoughtful expression flashing in his eyes. He couldn’t understand why Shen Yilan was here in this life. It was entirely different from the past. In their previous life, Shen Yilan had always stayed with the Shen family. He had only met her once at a banquet when she was in high school. Later, he had heard she died from falling off a building.
He now had a strong suspicion—Shen Yilan had been reborn, just like him.
After Fu Jingsheng dried Shen Yilan’s hair, he took her out to handle the household registration process. Once that was done, he asked his assistant to contact the elementary division of the boy’s school and arrange for Shen Yilan to attend.
Monday Morning
Shen Yilan carried a small backpack and wore casual clothes as she came downstairs for breakfast.
Afterward, Fu Jingsheng drove her to school. He walked her to her classroom before leaving.
Seated in her new class, Shen Yilan noticed the curious stares from her classmates, who were clearly intrigued by the unfamiliar face.
When the homeroom teacher arrived and introduced her, the class finally understood they had a new student.
“Fu Yilan, introduce yourself to the class,” the teacher said.
Shen Yilan stood up, smiling brightly. “Hi, everyone. My name is… uh, Fu Yilan. We’ll be classmates from now on!”
Tsk, it feels strange to have a new last name all of a sudden, she thought.
After the first lesson, the break period arrived. A group of kids quickly gathered around Shen Yilan’s desk.
“Fu Yilan, you’re so pretty!”
“Fu Yilan, can we be friends?”
“Fu Yilan, this is chocolate my mom bought for me. I want you to have it!”
“Fu Yilan…”
Shen Yilan smiled through it all. Wow, kids sure are enthusiastic!
