She Pretends to Be an Alpha, She Pretends to Be an Omega (GL) - Chapter 1
Inside the cheap, dilapidated rental room, an unopened inhibitor sat on the only intact table.
The woman seated at the table quietly gazed at the inhibitor, a flicker of pain in her dark eyes.
She wore a thin black sweater and faded jeans.
A cold wind blew through the window crack, making her shiver uncontroll.
The woman gritted her teeth, her expressionless face hardened with resolve.
She quickly tore open the inhibitor and skillfully injected it into her left arm.
An icy pain instantly spread throughout her body. The woman furrowed her brow tightly, waiting for the pain to subside.
Not long after, the small room was filled with the sweet, cloying scent of an Omega.
The woman’s lips curved in satisfaction, a cold smile appearing on her gaunt face.
She stood up and swiftly disposed of the used inhibitor.
By this time, the sky outside had completely darkened.
The dim yellow room was ravaged by the cold wind, making whooshing sounds.
Loud cursing from a woman echoed from upstairs, while a child’s cries came from downstairs.
Various noisy sounds intertwined, making one feel irritable.
The woman frowned in disgust, her face sullen, and ate a bag of biscuits.
She turned off the light and sat quietly on the bed, her indifferent eyes fixed on the light filtering in from outside.
This was an old residential area, cheap to rent but also very run-down.
Neighbors often argued, and the soundproofing between floors was terrible; every little noise could be heard clearly.
She had lived here for two years, witnessing too many trivial disputes and the sadness born of poverty.
Every day, she wanted to escape, but she simply couldn’t.
All her meager earnings went to buy that expensive inhibitor; she didn’t even have money to buy a warm coat for herself.
It was early December, and the weather had turned cold, but she only had thin outer layers to wear.
“Ning Xuechu, come home this weekend. If you dare make excuses not to, I’ll break your legs.” The screen in the darkness lit up, and a message popped up on her phone.
Seeing the ruthlessness in the words, the woman remained unfazed. She blew on her somewhat stiff fingers before typing, “Okay, Aunt, I’ll be back after my last class.”
The dim light reflected an emotionless face.
The screen light went out, and the woman’s eyes were as cold as the night.
Meanwhile, in a brightly lit, high-end office building, an exquisitely crafted desk held a file containing information about the woman.
“Ning Xuechu, twenty years old, a university student, an ordinary Omega. Since her parents passed away at the age of ten, she has been living with her uncle’s family. At school, she’s always a loner, has no friends, and works part-time on weekends or when she doesn’t have classes.” The woman sitting at the desk softly read the words on the paper.
She was dressed in a high-end custom suit and wore an expensive watch on her wrist.
Her dark, beautiful hair was casually draped, making her fair, smooth face appear even smaller.
Her long, slender, pale fingers traced over the paper, circling around before stopping at the name.
“Xuechu… Ning Xuechu… I finally found her…” The woman’s fingers trembled as she picked up the paper, her beautiful eyes glistening with tears.
She seemed to be in disbelief, yet also ecstatic.
The face in the photo was unfamiliar to her, but the name ‘Xuechu’ had long been deeply etched into her soul.
She had remembered this name since she first heard it at the age of six.
Now, twenty years had passed.
The woman’s long, thick eyelashes fluttered, and two lines of clear tears slowly streamed down her fair, flawless face.
She reached up and covered her rosy lips, stopping the sobs that threatened to escape.
In the large office, only the woman’s sounds of crying tears of joy could be heard.
After a while, she raised her hand, wiped away her tears with her fingertips, picked up the photo album on the table, and said with a happy smile, “I found Xuechu. She’s an Omega. It might not be what you expected, but I’m bringing her home. I’ll let her acknowledge her ancestors and fulfill your wishes.”
The photo album showed a middle-aged couple. From their features, the woman in the photo bore some resemblance to them.
The woman spoke softly, her tear-filled eyes becoming exceptionally resolute.
Ning Xuechu walked along the road, carrying a single-shoulder bag and wearing thin clothes.
People around her were all dressed in thick winter attire, making her slender figure stand out conspicuously.
The early winter wind carried a chill, blowing goosebumps onto her skin.
Ning Xuechu shivered, clutching the steamed bun she had just bought.
Using the slight warmth, she warmed her hands and quickly ran to the bus stop.
“Some of these Omega girls nowadays wear so little just to look pretty. Who knows which Alpha they’re trying to attract,” said a woman also waiting for the bus, her words laced with undisguised mockery.
Upon hearing this, Ning Xuechu gave a cold glance.
The coldness in her eyes made the woman pause and silently shut up.
Buses kept passing, but none were the one she was waiting for.
The bun in her hand had already grown cold. Ning Xuechu lowered her head and quickly ate the bun in a few bites, savoring the last bit of warmth.
She wiped her hands, looked up, and saw a beautifully dressed Omega woman getting into a private car.
A hint of envy couldn’t help but surface in Ning Xuechu’s eyes.
Soon, she snapped back to reality, and the envy in her eyes turned into a cold gleam.
The bus she was waiting for finally arrived, and a group of people rushed to get on.
Ning Xuechu stood expressionlessly at the end of the crowd, the last to board.
There were no seats left in the bustling carriage, so she had to stand.
Various pungent odors occasionally wafted from nearby, and Ning Xuechu slightly frowned, enduring them.
Finally, she endured until her stop. She squeezed through the crowd and quickly got off the bus.
The bus door closed with a ‘bang,’ leaving behind a foul exhaust.
Ning Xuechu squatted beside a flower bed, her stomach churning.
She dry heaved a few times before suppressing the nauseous feeling.
After resting for a while, she stood up and walked towards the school.
People around her were in groups, chatting and laughing, while she was all alone.
“Ning Xuechu, you’ve been wearing those clothes for three days, haven’t you? Don’t you think they’re dirty? Or do you just not have any other clothes?” A mocking voice came from behind, filled with arrogance. “I almost forgot, you’re the poorest person in our class, living off scholarships. You’re probably the most pitiful Omega in this world.”
Loud, unrestrained laughter echoed in her ears. Ning Xuechu clenched her fists tightly and walked forward with her head down.
She wanted to punch the person mocking her squarely in the face, but such a fleeting burst of anger would only make her lose her scholarship eligibility.
Without the scholarship, her life would be even harder than it was now.
Ning Xuechu weighed the pros and cons in her mind, and the cruel reality forced her to choose patience.
After a day of classes, Ning Xuechu ate the cheapest dinner at the cafeteria.
Braving the cold wind, she squeezed onto a crowded bus all the way back to her dilapidated rental room.
The familiar noise from upstairs and downstairs echoed, but Ning Xuechu ignored it. She tidied up and prepared to go out for her part-time job.
Ever since she started university, her uncle’s family had refused to give her money, citing her coming of age as the reason.
The money for university was earned from odd jobs she did before.
For the past three years, she had been working and studying, and every month she had to live frugally to buy inhibitors.
While others were planning to go shopping for new clothes, she could only wear old clothes and work various part-time jobs.
Occasionally, she would run into acquaintances from school, inevitably enduring a round of mockery.
Yet, despite this, all she could do was continue to work.
She couldn’t be willful and talk back, nor could she quit her job.
Ning Xuechu confirmed tonight’s work location and time, then searched for the cheapest route to get there.
Suddenly, a series of neat footsteps sounded outside, followed by a knock on the door.
“Hello, is Ms. Ning in?” A woman’s voice came from outside.
It was soft, polite, and carried a faint smile.
If one listened closely, a hint of excited trembling could be detected beneath the smile.
Ning Xuechu frowned, ignored it, and continued to check her route.
“Ms. Ning, the light inside is on, so you must be in there. Please open the door, I have something to discuss with you.” The woman said with a smile, her voice gently persistent.
It seemed she wouldn’t leave until the person inside opened the door.
Ning Xuechu’s frown deepened.
After a moment’s thought, she gripped her phone tightly and cautiously walked to the door.
Opening it a crack, she tilted her head to look outside.
In an instant, Ning Xuechu’s eyes widened in surprise.
The woman outside was an Alpha, and a high-ranking one at that; the exclusive Alpha scent in the air made her body tremble.
The woman’s face was extremely beautiful, with an exquisite oval shape and perfect facial proportions. Even with light makeup, she was enough to attract everyone’s gaze.
Looking down, the woman had a perfect figure, her S-shaped curves fully visible. Her attire was like that of a celebrity on television, dazzling and brilliant.
It made one feel inferior.
Especially her noble and elegant demeanor, which was completely out of place in this poverty-stricken neighborhood.
“Who are you looking for?” Ning Xuechu suppressed her surprise, an undeniable envy in her dark eyes.
“The person I’m looking for is you, Xuechu. Will you open the door? I have something to say to you.” The woman’s lips curved into a gentle smile, her voice soft and light.
The moment she saw Ning Xuechu, her eyes lit up, and her exquisite face showed a mix of surprise and astonishment.
For a moment, Ning Xuechu felt as though this seemingly unapproachable Alpha was about to cry.
However, this illusion lasted only for a moment.
The name ‘Xuechu,’ spoken by those moist red lips, sounded natural and intimate, as if a spring breeze had gently caressed her.
Ning Xuechu’s heart fluttered. She bit her lip lightly and looked at the woman again.
Immediately, the corner of her eye caught sight of the four bodyguards behind the woman.
After a brief thought, Ning Xuechu lowered her voice, her gaze intently fixed on the woman, “Only you are allowed in.”
“Manager An…” One of the bodyguards was about to speak but was stopped by the woman’s raised hand.
“You wait for me outside,” the woman instructed.
Her voice wasn’t loud, but it carried an undeniable authority.
“Xuechu, can you open the door now?” The woman said with a soft chuckle, her smile exceedingly gentle.
Ning Xuechu was momentarily dazed.
With the strong Alpha scent lingering in her nostrils, her fingers moved lightly, and the rusty, dilapidated iron door slowly opened.
