- Chapter 5 - Lying to Her Face
Directly in front of Ning Xuechu stood three female students, dressed quite maturely.
The one in the middle was an Omega named Duan Ran, her delicate face filled with arrogant condescension.
She looked at Ning Xuechu with a disdainful smile.
The two beside her were Betas, fawning over the Omega in the middle.
Ning Xuechu was often troubled by these three, frequently subjected to their bullying and insults without cause.
She wasn’t familiar with Duan Ran, and at first, she didn’t understand why Duan Ran always picked on her.
Later, she found out it was because she was the poorest student in the class and appeared the easiest to bully.
And since no one would help her, Duan Ran dared to brazenly bully her again and again.
Duan Ran was also an unpopular student in class, often flirting with Alphas from outside school, and was secretly mocked by many classmates.
By bullying her, a poor student, the other party could gain the maximum sense of superiority.
“Ning Xuechu, your clothes clearly look like designer brands. Did that rich Alpha woman just buy them for you?” Duan Ran asked with a mocking smile, a hint of jealousy flashing in her eyes. “Everyone praises you as a good student, but I didn’t expect you to be so vain.”
Hearing the word ‘also,’ Ning Xuechu curved her lips into a cold smile, her gaze directly and coldly meeting theirs. “It seems you also know your own reputation among classmates. It’s truly difficult for you to have such self-awareness.”
Ning Xuechu deliberately emphasized the last sentence.
Normally, when faced with Duan Ran’s provocations, she would avoid them whenever possible, choosing to keep the peace.
This time, her retort was unexpected, leaving Duan Ran stunned.
Immediately, Duan Ran’s heavily made-up face turned furious.
She stepped forward, chin raised high, staring fiercely at Ning Xuechu. “I really don’t know what methods you used to hook up with that rich girl. If the teacher finds out you’re involved with someone ambiguously, your scholarship will probably be gone.”
After saying this, Duan Ran smiled triumphantly, saying haughtily, “Now apologize to me, say ‘I’m sorry,’ and I’ll forgive your rudeness just now.”
Ning Xuechu scoffed lightly, her indifferent gaze like looking at a fool. She mimicked Duan Ran’s disdainful tone and said, “Not everyone is as pitiful as you, begging for scraps and selling their body. That rich Alpha just now is my new girlfriend.”
“How is that possible? How could a pauper like you get such a rich and beautiful girlfriend?” Duan Ran shrieked, provoked, almost disregarding that they were on school grounds. “I don’t believe it…”
She had relentlessly mocked Ning Xuechu for being poor and couldn’t accept that someone inferior to her could find such an outstanding Alpha.
Intense jealousy surged from her heart. Duan Ran’s expression turned ferocious, and suddenly her gaze fell on a certain spot. A calculating look flashed across her face, and she loudly asked with a smile, “Ning Xuechu, since you say she’s your girlfriend, then tell us when you started dating.”
“Why should I tell you?” Ning Xuechu snorted coldly.
As soon as she finished speaking, her body stiffened.
She could feel someone standing behind her; a familiar scent wafted through the air.
Ning Xuechu’s heart constricted. She stiffly turned around and saw a cool, beautiful face.
That person stood there steadily, their delicate brows and eyes carrying a hint of aloof arrogance that seemed untouched by worldly affairs.
Ning Xuechu’s heart raced, her rosy lips turning pale with cold. She opened and closed them several times but couldn’t utter a single word.
She didn’t know how much An Jianqing had heard.
Would she expose her lie on the spot?
Would she… dislike her?
Ning Xuechu’s panicked heart pounded, her fingertips tightly clasped together, trembling uncontrollably.
“Are you really Ning Xuechu’s girlfriend?” Duan Ran asked loudly and triumphantly, reaching up to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. She continued, “Everyone says I’m much prettier than her.”
An Jianqing curved her lips into a smile, ignoring the provocation.
Twenty-year-olds were in their prime, beautiful and youthful. It was inevitable for young girls to be a little vain and enjoy comparing themselves.
She just hadn’t expected Omegas nowadays to be so bold, daring to openly flirt with a strange Alpha.
“Ning Xuechu, she didn’t even answer, which means she’s not admitting it. Don’t flatter yourself,” Duan Ran laughed arrogantly, her face full of triumphant mockery. “Ordinary people wouldn’t even look at you, so how could an outstanding Alpha like her? Don’t dream foolishly.”
Hearing this, Ning Xuechu lowered her head in embarrassment, biting her lip hard.
She desperately wanted to escape, but her legs felt heavy, like they were filled with lead, unable to lift.
Even though she was wearing warm clothes, her whole body couldn’t stop trembling.
A chill rose from the depths of her heart, sweeping through her body and making her involuntarily shrink.
Suddenly, a warm embrace enveloped her from behind, the Alpha’s scent completely surrounding her.
A wave of warmth traveled along their connected skin, reaching straight to her heart.
Ning Xuechu’s eyes widened in surprise, her long eyelashes fluttering rapidly, her heart beating even faster than before.
An Jianqing noticed this subtle movement and couldn’t help but chuckle, saying in a low voice, “Student, my Xuechu is a uniquely adorable Omega; no one can compare to her.”
Her voice was not loud, melodious, with an almost imperceptible hint of intimacy.
Ning Xuechu immediately felt a thrilling warmth brush against her ear. Her cold body instantly began to heat up with a ‘thump.’
Her pale lips regained their rosy hue, and her thin cheeks grew hot as if on fire.
She felt as if she had instantly moved from an icy cave to a warm, spring-like flower sea, feeling a pleasant warmth from inside out.
“You…” Duan Ran’s fingers trembled with anger.
Although the S-class Alpha in front of her was only smiling gently, her aura was enough to exert a powerful pressure on her.
Duan Ran angrily gritted her teeth, her face full of unwillingness, and stomped away furiously.
The next second, the warmth behind her suddenly disappeared, leaving only a lingering scent in the air.
Ning Xuechu’s eyes flickered. She uneasily lowered her head, her hands clasped together, and said in a very soft voice, “Sister, I’m sorry, I…”
At this point, she looked up, her red-rimmed eyes already welling with tears.
Seeing this, An Jianqing felt a pang of heartache.
Even if she tried to disguise her inner self as strong through stubbornness, she was still just a child who hadn’t even graduated.
She smiled gently, a hint of helplessness crossing her bright eyes. “Oh, you. Don’t do that again next time.”
One sentence, like a gentle breeze, carried indulgent affection.
“I won’t talk nonsense again,” Ning Xuechu quickly promised, reaching out to wipe away the tears that were about to fall.
When her hand fell, she inadvertently brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, the trembling concealed by her dark, thick long hair.
“That’s good. I have to go to work now.” An Jianqing raised her wrist, glanced at the time, and walked away with elegant steps.
Watching An Jianqing’s receding figure, Ning Xuechu’s tense heart finally calmed down.
She took a deep breath, like a fish out of water, and looked down at her palm, which was already covered in a thin layer of sweat.
She had been too impulsive today, acting on a whim to tell such an absurd lie, and it just so happened that the person it concerned heard it.
She had been prepared to be scolded but never expected An Jianqing to defend her.
This was an outcome she hadn’t anticipated and never dared to hope for.
Before, no matter whether she had done something wrong or not, her uncle’s family always favored her Alpha older sister, and she was always the one at fault.
She not only had to endure grievances but also punishment.
This was the first time she had been protected and favored like this.
Ning Xuechu’s eyes flickered, and a warm current flowed through her heart.
Her expression hardened, and she quickly walked towards the classroom.
Sitting in the classroom, Ning Xuechu put down her backpack, looked around, and found Duan Ran’s voice in a corner.
Duan Ran was playfully putting her arm around a male classmate. Noticing Ning Xuechu’s gaze, she immediately looked over.
Ning Xuechu slightly curved her lips, forming an arc of disdain.
The next second, she saw Duan Ran’s annoyed expression, wanting to curse her but having to hold back.
Ning Xuechu satisfactorily lowered her head, opened her textbook, and happily reviewed the topic the teacher had covered last time.
She wasn’t worried at all that Duan Ran would spread this lie.
Having a beautiful and outstanding Alpha girlfriend was something worth showing off. Duan Ran was extremely jealous and couldn’t stand to see her doing well, so she would definitely not help her spread the news.
She also wouldn’t be foolish enough to tell this lie to everyone, otherwise, she would have to put in immense effort to cover it up later.
If An Jianqing were to discover her ambition, it would be more loss than gain.
“Ning Xuechu, don’t get too pleased. Those rich Alphas are just playing around. Once they’re used to rich food, they just want a taste of a plain and ordinary vegetable like you. Don’t really think you can turn from a crow into a phoenix,” Duan Ran walked over, lowering her voice to say something harsh.
Hearing this, Ning Xuechu subconsciously imagined An Jianqing using her and then kicking her out of the wealthy family.
Her heart trembled, and her eyes deepened.
Although An Jianqing was currently playing the role of a good sister, she didn’t know when this woman would turn on her.
Instead of anxiously waiting for the day she would be abandoned, she might as well secure a place in the other party’s heart.
As long as she made that woman fall in love with her, the chances of winning this game would be much higher.
“You’ve hooked up with many rich people; you should be very experienced, right?” Ning Xuechu tilted her head, a hint of a smile appearing on her indifferent face.
Duan Ran froze for a moment, her face turning ashen with anger. “What do you mean ‘hook up’? They were mesmerized by my beauty.”
“Really?” Ning Xuechu scoffed, the disdain in her dark eyes intensifying.
She had originally wanted to learn some methods to captivate the wealthy from Duan Ran, but looking at Duan Ran’s brainless expression, she probably relied solely on her youth, beauty, and daring seduction.
One willing to pay, the other willing to perform.
But what kind of Omega would an Alpha as excellent and perfect as An Jianqing like?
Ning Xuechu quickly took out her phone and searched for scandalous news about An Jianqing.
She looked for a long time but couldn’t find an answer.
Many rumors were just random compilations of two pictures, full of nonsense that couldn’t withstand any scrutiny.
Ning Xuechu put down her phone in disappointment.
After staring at her textbook for a while, a sudden thought flashed through her mind. She thought of someone who could help her find out An Jianqing’s preferences.
Aunt Lian, the housekeeper who had worked for the Ning family for twenty years.
“Aunt Lian, it’s Sister Jianqing’s birthday in a few days, and I want to give her a gift. But I don’t know what she likes. Could you give me some suggestions?”
“Miss Qing is very fond of cherries, especially the kind that’s a bit sweet and sour.”
Sweet and sour cherry flavor?
Isn’t that her own pheromone scent!
Ning Xuechu’s heart tightened, almost unable to believe the answer.
