Chapter 28: Beauty Porcelain (10)
Why Is Someone Hidden
“What did you say?! You have no idea how valuable that thing was!” Li Feng said through gritted teeth. His gaunt face, covered in stubble, was pale with anger.
The howling wind felt like it was slapping his face, leaving it raw. Luo Ning glanced at the courtyard, and her arrogant demeanor instantly subsided.
The man on the ground, seeing that he was being ignored, felt humiliated. He didn’t notice the cracks on his knees.
He tried to get up, but a sharp heel stepped on his hand. There was no sound of flesh being pierced, only the sound of shattering porcelain.
Li Feng stared blankly at the hole in his hand. Only then did he realize he didn’t feel any pain. Luo Ning’s voice followed, her smile gone, replaced by a biting coldness.
“What filthy hands. Stealing everything that doesn’t belong to you. How greedy.”
He looked up, with no anger left in his eyes, only a numb stiffness. He muttered to himself.
“No, no, what did you do to me?! I only took a porcelain… a porcelain, you’re the one who broke it… I didn’t mean to steal it, I didn’t…”
His words became increasingly incoherent. Luo Ning looked down at him, her deep eyes like a judgment that saw through everything.
Shi Hui stopped what he was doing and looked over menacingly.
“So you’re the same, too.”
When Yi Fei saw the hole in his hand, he gasped and took a step back. Something flashed in his eyes behind his glasses, but he quickly composed himself and walked over. He frowned and said cautiously.
“Li, what’s wrong with you? Did someone do something to you?”
Luo Ning glanced at Yi Fei. The invisible pressure made him shiver.
Hearing Yi Fei’s words, Li Feng became even more convinced that Luo Ning had done something to him to make him into this half-human, half-ghost state. He went mad.
“You lunatic! It must have been you, it was you! I won’t let you get away with this! You won’t clear this game!”
His threats didn’t change Luo Ning’s expression in the slightest. Luo Ning turned her head to look at Yi Fei, who was about to come over. A smile curved on her lips, and she said slowly, her words making Yi Fei stop in his tracks.
“Do you want the ashes?”
Hearing her words, the others’ gazes instantly fell on her, staring intently.
Li Feng reacted strongly. He looked at the hesitant Yi Fei and pleaded.
“Uncle knows you’re a good student. The school taught you to help others, didn’t it? You have to save me. This… this crazy woman’s words, you absolutely can’t believe them!”
Luo Ning mercilessly kicked him away and looked at Yi Fei again.
“There’s a jar inside. The ashes are in it.”
The ashes were the material they needed to create the Beauty Porcelain and clear the game.
But why was Luo Ning being so kind and giving him the ashes?
Yi Fei was very suspicious and didn’t immediately believe her. Luo Ning didn’t care.
“I know you’re a kind person, Sister. Even though you’re very powerful, he’s still our teammate.”
He was still pleading for Li Feng when Shi Hui came over aggressively, grabbed his collar, and threw him aside.
“Get out of the way.”
Luo Ning was standing by the door. As Shi Hui passed by, his outstretched hand immediately stopped in mid-air. He then had to carefully step sideways to go inside.
Yi Fei and Li Feng, who had rolled to the side, watched with their own eyes as Shi Hui searched inside and finally found the jar Luo Ning had mentioned in a pile of junk.
Yi Fei looked at the jar, regretting that he hadn’t gone in first. If he had, the ashes wouldn’t have fallen into someone else’s hands.
“It’s really… real…”
But regret was useless. He could only get up and try to go in, but Shi Hui sneered at them and raised his hand, throwing the jar to the ground.
“What a shame,” Luo Ning said calmly, stroking the handle of her umbrella, as if she didn’t care at all.
Yi Fei stared intently at the ashes mixing with the debris. He took a few deep breaths, barely managing to keep his face from showing any other emotion.
Luo Ning walked inside, stepping over the shattered porcelain, and went to the wall on the left.
On that wall, a few inconspicuous paintings covered in thick dust were hanging.
When she had first arrived, before they came in, she had been looking at these paintings.
Holding her umbrella, she took down the leftmost painting. She shook off the dust, and although the colors were faded, she could still see that it was a painting of the porcelain Buddha that Li Feng had stolen.
“This is a nice painting,” Luo Ning said in admiration. She casually began to roll it up.
She came here, not to get the ashes, but to look at a few paintings, as if she didn’t care about winning or losing this game.
Shi Hui scoffed, his voice filled with disdain.
“Be careful you don’t get buried here too.”
Luo Ning ignored his sarcasm. She continued to roll up one painting after another. Finally, she tied them all together like a bundle of firewood with a rope. She held it casually in her hand, and it didn’t affect her elegance at all.
Yi Fei walked over. After the other person had finished collecting the paintings, he spoke with some hesitation.
“Sister, are you going to take these back to show Jiang Nan?”
An imperceptible ruthlessness flashed in his eyes. He didn’t believe Luo Ning would do this just because she was bored.
“I can help you carry them.”
As he spoke, he reached out to take them, but Luo Ning’s umbrella hit his palm. The sting made him pull his hand back.
“What, don’t you guys want the ashes?”
Yi Fei quickly waved his hand, indicating that he had no other intentions.
“I don’t want to snatch these things. The ashes are gone, but I’ll find them myself again.”
“Then go find them,” Luo Ning said. She didn’t fall for his trick. She could see through Yi Fei’s intentions.
“You know, Sister, I want to live too, so I hope we can team up.”
His voice was low, almost only audible to the two of them.
Luo Ning mercilessly rejected his olive branch. “I don’t want to team up with you.”
Her blunt words made Yi Fei’s face turn from green to white, but he didn’t give up.
“With all due respect, Jiang Nan doesn’t seem to genuinely want to cooperate with you. Do you really want to put a warm face to a cold butt?”
Hearing his words, Luo Ning thought for a moment. Yi Fei thought his words had swayed her, but before he could get excited, Luo Ning laughed and said.
“So you call this putting a warm face to a cold butt. I’d be happy to.”
Yi Fei was a little speechless. His words and Luo Ning’s seemed to be on completely different wavelengths, or rather, Luo Ning’s way of thinking wasn’t human at all.
Luo Ning held the bundle of paintings and left the room. The others didn’t dare to stop her.
Shi Hui glared at her viciously, but he was too afraid of being crushed by her foot to stop her.
Yi Fei’s face was gloomy, but when Li Feng came over, he quickly returned to his pitiful, kind demeanor, as if he had been bullied by Luo Ning.
“It’s all my fault. I couldn’t help Li regain his state.”
Li Feng hadn’t heard his conversation with Luo Ning. He was naturally fooled by his appearance again, and a fierce look flashed across his face.
“Maybe if we kill her, I can recover. Then I can steal her qualifications for myself.”
He had been disqualified by Mother Ci, but he knew that the system would allow him to steal someone else’s qualifications.
This was his last hope…
Li Feng secretly clenched his fists. His expression was noticed by Yi Fei, who sneered inwardly.
Shi Hui, who knew the real reason for turning into a porcelain person, remained silent, watching them coldly with dead eyes.
After watching Luo Ning leave the manor, Li Feng suddenly remembered something and quickly said to Yi Fei.
“Let’s go, they’re alive!”
“What?” Yi Fei didn’t understand his words.
The moment his words fell, a sharp shriek pierced their eardrums.
The scattered pieces of dried corpses on the ground began to move. The heads rolled, searching for their own bodies.
Their faces turned pale as they watched the porcelainized dried corpses stand up, filling the courtyard.
Amidst the lightning and thunder, the black mass of people surrounded them. Fear filled their hearts.
Even after being porcelainized, the dark dried corpses were just a bit smoother. Their pitch-black eyes stared at them.
A hunched dried corpse, leaning on a cane, tapped the ground three times, a sound full of power.
The cane pointed at them, and an old, raspy voice came out.
“They stole our Beauty Porcelain.”
Li Feng’s eyes widened. He said.
“There’s no Beauty Porcelain here.”
But those people wouldn’t listen. Their shouts, one louder than the last, almost toppled the manor.
Hearing the commotion, the townspeople also slowly began to gather.
Luo Ning held the paintings and her umbrella, walking against the tide of the crowd. She tilted her head slightly and cast a glance at the manor that had been taken over.
When she passed the altar, there were no longer any townspeople there. However, a figure stood on it.
The person standing there had their eyes fixed on the blazing fire, as if something inside was so important that they didn’t care about the flames.
Luo Ning returned to Mother Ci’s courtyard. Her cold expression immediately changed into a smile.
“Little Jiang Nan.”
Her voice was elongated and extremely affectionate.
The person inside heard her and pushed the door open, watching her approach with a cold gaze.
Luo Ning casually threw the paintings she was holding to the ground. Since they were loosely tied, the bundle immediately came undone.
“What are these?” Jiang Nan looked at the paintings on the ground. The Buddha head on the half-opened painting looked very familiar.
“Paintings,” she said. “I got them from the Lin Manor.”
“They’re so beautiful. They’d suit you. You can hang them in your room and admire them.”
She chattered on, but she only got a cold look from Jiang Nan.
Jiang Nan picked up the painting of the Buddha. Before she could look at it for too long, Luo Ning’s gaze made her feel a little odd. She could only change the subject.
“Where are they?”
“They’re trapped,” Luo Ning said.
Hearing this, Jiang Nan’s hand paused. She looked at the rain outside, but she didn’t really care about the other three. Her gaze quickly fell back on the paintings.
When she finally saw what was drawn on them, she glanced at Luo Ning a few times.
She couldn’t tell if Luo Ning was pretending to be ignorant or not. The painting was of the porcelain Buddha that Li Feng had stolen.
She flipped through the other paintings. Although she had never seen what was in them before, she could generally tell that each one was of a porcelain piece. They all had different poses and were all beautiful, worthy of being called a Beauty Porcelain.
Beauty Porcelain…
Something suddenly flashed in her mind, but it was interrupted by Luo Ning’s words.
“Little Jiang Nan, why are you hiding someone?”
