Chapter 30: Beauty Porcelain (12)
Are You Angry? Why?
The pottery wheel spun, making a faint whirring sound that was especially noticeable in the silent room.
Her pale fingertips touched the wet, soft clay. The mud on her hands didn’t diminish their beauty in the slightest.
An invisible force seemed to be obstructing her.
Her lowered eyes reflected the initial form of the clay, which warped and finally turned back into a pile of useless mud.
“It can’t be made,” Jiang Nan murmured.
She just wanted to try and make a simple porcelain piece with regular clay. Now it seemed there was no other way but to use the ashes.
But how could they, who had only seen it once, easily make something as intricate as the Beauty Porcelain? Even if they got the ashes, they still wouldn’t be able to make a Beauty Porcelain that would satisfy Mother Ci.
This was a dead end. Mother Ci had already come to her, and to satisfy her, she had to find the specific ashes that Mother Ci wanted.
Mother Ci seeking her out quietly changed the entire dungeon. The others didn’t know yet, but the ashes they were looking for had changed.
So Mother Ci had also schemed against her, but she was also telling the truth…
Something flashed deep in Jiang Nan’s eyes. Mother Ci’s words echoed in her mind.
Whose ashes was the other person looking for?
Luo Ning was playing with Jiang Nan’s knife. After looking it up and down for a moment, a smile appeared on her lips, and she said something that no one could understand.
“You’ve eaten your fill, then.”
The blade trembled in her hand and then quickly flew back to Jiang Nan.
Jiang Nan glanced at it and then put it away.
She looked up at Luo Ning, with not a ripple of emotion in her eyes. She picked up a handkerchief and slowly wiped the mud from her hands, speaking calmly with a hint of distance.
“I won’t ask for your purpose, and I won’t ask for your Ascension Stage. I believe what you said before about freedom, but please stop following me.”
She couldn’t determine whether the other person was good or evil, and she couldn’t determine if her existence, which could change the dungeon, would put the other person in a difficult situation.
“I’m afraid I can’t.”
Luo Ning met her eyes and rejected her without a hint of hesitation. A smile was on her lips, but it was unreadable and seemed to carry an unrejectable force.
“I have to stay by your side.”
For some reason, her words made Jiang Nan subconsciously want to obey.
Perhaps because of her resistance, the smile in Luo Ning’s eyes faded. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and her condescending gaze made her seem like a high-ranking person. An invisible pressure descended, making it difficult to breathe.
“Are you angry? Why?”
The turmoil in the air was unsettling. The bl00d in her body was boiling, and the sweet fragrance seemed to carry a foul, bloody stench that surrounded her.
But she still looked the other person in the eye. Fear was suppressed, leaving only a hint of indifference.
She shouldn’t have been soft-hearted, especially not toward this person. What did it have to do with her if this person died while following her?
“No,” Jiang Nan replied.
But Luo Ning didn’t ease the pressure because of her answer. Instead, she spoke as if to herself.
“Is it because I hurt you? I give you permission to hurt me with your blade.”
Her words were still condescending. When talking about herself, she wasn’t at all afraid of being killed by Jiang Nan’s knife.
They looked at each other from a distance. Although they were only a few feet apart, it was as if they were separated by a thousand mountains and rivers. Jiang Nan couldn’t see through Luo Ning, but Luo Ning seemed to have already seen through her.
“Why should I listen to you?” Jiang Nan sneered, but she didn’t follow the other person’s suggestion to stab her.
“You really don’t seem like a person.”
“I never said I was.”
Jiang Nan’s action of wiping her hands paused. She couldn’t read anything in the other person’s eyes and gave up.
“Forget it. I’ll just consider you an extra dog.” She said in a low voice. She moved her gaze away, unable to see the confusion that flashed in Luo Ning’s eyes.
Jiang Nan knew Luo Ning had heard her, but given the other person’s previous demeanor, why wasn’t she angry about being cursed at?
“I’m going to find the ashes Mother Ci wants. Are you going to look for them too?” Jiang Nan didn’t look at the other person again. She just spoke calmly, silently agreeing to have the other person by her side.
Mother Ci had only given the instructions to her. If Luo Ning wanted to get involved, it meant she was on Mother Ci’s side.
Luo Ning’s eyes grew cold as she spoke.
“Speaking of which, she’s making her own decisions, which makes me very unhappy, but I will allow you to help her.”
Jiang Nan: …
“I don’t need your permission,” Jiang Nan said, glaring at the other person.
Luo Ning looked at the person in front of her. She frowned slightly as if trying to decipher the emotions in her eyes. Her words were completely irrelevant.
“You shouldn’t dislike me. You should like me.”
“You’re too narcissistic.”
Jiang Nan frowned, unable to understand the other person’s behavior.
A smile crept into Luo Ning’s eyes. The pressure around her disappeared, as if she were completely separate from the terrifying person she had been just moments before.
A “bang, bang” on the door shattered the atmosphere between them, making them both turn to look.
Luo Ning raised her hand to her mouth and laughed softly. Deep in her eyes, there was an endless coldness.
“A filthy rat has arrived.”
Jiang Nan walked over and directly opened the door.
The person who had been trying to ram the door open didn’t expect the person inside to open it suddenly. His large body fell directly to the ground. Pain spread throughout his body. Before his scream could even fully come out, he saw a person standing in front of him, looking at him with a blank expression.
Jiang Nan’s skin was already a sickly pale. In the dimly lit room, she looked like a walking ghost.
Shi Hui was already convinced that Jiang Nan and the others had become ghosts. When he saw this scene, his heart almost stopped. The talisman he was holding tightened even more, but his trembling hands showed his fear.
He quickly scrambled up. He pointed the yellow talisman at them and said.
“You’re already dead. What’s the point of having the ashes?”
Jiang Nan didn’t speak, but she quietly took a step back.
Luo Ning scoffed. She slowly walked closer, and looking at his appearance, she seemed to find it amusing as she spoke.
“Who told you we were dead? And where did we get the ashes from?”
Jiang Nan took in his appearance and pondered.
That night, this person clearly should have seen them come out of the fire, but when he came back, he was so convinced that they had been burned to death.
And now, the person who told him they had the ashes was probably just using him as a pawn.
Shi Hui’s expression became agitated. The hand holding the yellow talisman trembled non-stop.
“I saw it. I saw you get burned to death in the fire. Then, then I have to get the ashes and smash them…”
He suddenly became confused toward the end. The blank memory horrified him. Finally, he looked at them with bloodshot eyes.
“He’s right, you’re the ones who did this!”
He blamed his memory loss on them…
The talisman in his hand suddenly ignited, turning into ashes in an instant.
Having lost his life-saving item, Shi Hui’s muscles couldn’t give him a sense of security.
Luo Ning walked up to him. His stiff legs couldn’t let him escape.
“Who told you?”
Her voice was full of enchantment, like a poisonous snake, crawling into a person’s heart.
Jiang Nan walked to his other side. The cold light reflected off her blade was chilling.
“Who?”
“The student, that student!”
“How insatiable,” she said with a soft laugh.
He was mercilessly kicked out by the two of them. Then, with a “thud,” the door was completely closed.
…
The scattered scrolls on the ground were studied repeatedly, but no answer could be found.
Yi Fei paced back and forth in the room, biting his fingernails. His eyebrows were tightly furrowed, his expression serious, with a hint of incomprehension.
“It’s impossible. These are just a few ordinary paintings. Why would she take them back if they didn’t have anything? Is she really just interested?”
This reason couldn’t convince him, but he couldn’t figure out the reason himself.
Li Feng was equally nervous. He grabbed Yi Fei’s arm and asked.
“Student, where’s that porcelain Buddha?” He was most concerned about whether he had returned the porcelain Buddha to the “Lin Manor.”
Yi Fei hid the cunning in his eyes. He nodded and said with certainty and reassurance.
“Don’t worry, Li. It’s been returned. You’ve also been given another chance, but something unexpected happened…” He didn’t finish his sentence, his gaze meaningfully glancing at Li Feng and Shi Hui.
Yi Fei had already concluded that people who turned into porcelain would forget what happened at night and after they turned. This was his opportunity to use them.
Li Feng breathed a sigh of relief when he heard his words, but his heart was once again in his throat when he heard the last part. He quickly asked.
“What else?”
Did Mother Ci do something to him again?
No, they didn’t remember what happened last night.
Li Feng and Shi Hui’s faces turned pale at the same time, waiting for Yi Fei to reveal the truth.
Yi Fei looked at their expressions and sneered inwardly. Then, he put on a troubled face.
“I don’t know what that woman did. You guys came back like this, and… she took the ashes.”
The ashes in the “Lin Manor” had already been destroyed by a crazed Shi Hui, but that didn’t stop him from lying and spreading rumors.
“What?!”
Li Feng already knew the importance of the ashes. When he heard that they had been taken, he naturally became anxious.
“Bah, that crazy woman wants to have it all to herself.”
“I want to leave here…” Shi Hui muttered to himself. He grabbed something and walked out the door.
If they didn’t get the ashes to make the Beauty Porcelain, they would all die here.
“I’ll go steal it back! What’s a little stealing? Your uncle here was stealing when you guys weren’t even born yet!”
After Li Feng heard that he still had a chance, he no longer mentioned giving up his points. He looked determined and was about to leave.
Yi Fei stopped him and shook his head. He said.
“They’re not to be trifled with. Let’s see if he can get it first. It’s not too late for us to make a move.”
Li Feng listened. He looked at Shi Hui’s retreating back and silently agreed with Yi Fei’s words. Finally, he sighed.
“The student’s brain is still the sharpest.”
Yi Fei smiled. He tightened his grip on Li Feng’s hand, and a hint of coldness was in his eyes.
These idiots were only fit to be his stepping stones to the top…
In the corner by the door, a person was tied up, a piece of cloth stuffed in their mouth. Their wide eyes stared in horror at the two people sitting at the door, looking at the sky and the ground in boredom. The person could only make muffled “hmm” sounds.
Behind them, a ghost was tirelessly helping them knead the clay at the pottery wheel.
“What are you waiting for, Little Jiang Nan?” Luo Ning asked with a smile. Every one of her movements was like a perfect painting, but with a hint of pretense.
Jiang Nan glanced at the half-finished product behind her and said.
“Nightfall. I need to go out.”
She didn’t hide it from Luo Ning. She knew it was useless to hide anyway. It was better to have a powerful guarantee by her side than to be sneaky.
Just…
She rubbed the patterns on her knife. A thousand thoughts swirled in her mind.
Why was it afraid of Luo Ning, and why did it become happy and obedient when it saw her?
Since it wasn’t a normal knife, what had that person given her?
Her knife liked souls, but it was more accurate to say that it liked the “evil” that feasted on souls.
…
Mother Ci’s beautiful face was filled with anger. An invisible pressure was restraining her.
She felt the person’s presence, so why couldn’t they meet…
