She Was Sentenced to Life Imprisonment [Unlimited] - Chapter 42
Chapter 42: The Rose Manor (7)
Another One Taking Matters into Their Own Hands
The red vulture perched on the window. Its eyes seemed to be glowing in the darkness, reflecting the person inside the room.
A cold flash of light suddenly went by. A knife was raised and fell, and bl00d splattered, filling the room. It made the man’s face look even more sinister and terrifying.
Bl00d soaked into his clothes and slowly pooled into a puddle. The man’s face was twisted in pain. In the depths of his wide, terrified eyes, the reflection of the person who had killed him was clear.
The loss of bl00d made the man feel his life gradually slipping away. He opened his mouth wide and tried to breathe, but he only spat out a mouthful of bl00d. A sharp pain went from his chest to his limbs. The violent trembling made the person in front of him look more and more blurry. His face was as pale as a sheet, and he muttered in a jarring voice, full of terror.
“Why…”
He had only wanted to find this person to team up with, but he never expected that the moment he let the person in, that person would stab a knife into his chest.
The man’s eyes were filled with a madness for bl00d. He looked at the person struggling on the ground in front of him and only felt a sense of relief in his heart. When faced with the question, he only sneered, pushed the knife in the other person’s chest even deeper, and said in a low voice.
“I like to kill. There is no reason to kill. Since the system has opened up the kill rights, I might as well make good use of it. Not only you, but I will kill everyone here!”
A murderer really didn’t need a reason to kill.
The knife was pushed deep. The man on the ground went rigid like a dead fish and then stopped moving. A pair of terrified eyes were still staring at the man.
The man clicked his tongue in boredom. As he got up to fix his clothes, there was a knock on the door.
His movements paused. He looked at the food on the table.
The servant had already delivered the meal. So who was the person at the door this time?
The strong floral scent entered his nose. Almost instinctively, the man knew who was outside.
Henriette was standing in front of door #3. Coralee politely knocked on the door.
“Is anyone inside? My master would like to have a chat with you.”
Henriette’s eyes were slightly closed. Perhaps out of boredom from waiting, her fingertips on her arm slightly curled up, tapping lightly, as if she was counting something.
The smell of bl00d filled the air. The crimson roses climbing on the walls around them were writhing in a dense mass with excitement, which made people’s hair stand on end.
[Player Zhao Ping, announced dead]
The system’s cold voice echoed throughout the entire manor, reaching every player’s ears.
The door to room #7 was pushed open a crack. A figure was revealed through the crack. Her gaze slowly swept the hallway on the first floor. She listened to the rustling sounds of the things climbing on the walls and didn’t show any panic. Instead, she had a hint of excitement for the unknown.
Finally, her gaze fell on Henriette and Coralee in the distance. Her ears were filled with the system’s voice, and a hint of an unreadable smile slowly appeared in her eyes.
Before anyone noticed her, she closed the door again.
The person inside door #3 leaned against the door, holding his breath to make the people outside think no one was inside.
This was not his room. Even if Henriette came in to catch someone, it had nothing to do with him.
Thinking of this, the man looked at the gradually cooling corpse on the ground, a hint of cruelty that ignored life in his eyes.
Henriette, who was waiting outside, sighed. It seemed she had run out of patience. Her eyes showed a hint of fatigue. She parted her red lips and said slowly.
“It seems no one is inside.”
Her clear, lazy voice echoed in the hallway, carrying an eerie strangeness.
She took Coralee and left door #3. When she got to the main hall, she saw the person lying on the ground. She slightly frowned, as if displeased that her territory had been soiled.
Coralee quickly sensed her mood. She raised her hand and gestured for a few servants to come over. She then stood in front of the man, looking down from above. The smile on her lips looked especially friendly.
“Perfumer, you should return to your room. You can’t make perfume here.”
The words of warning did not get a single reaction from the half-dead person on the ground. But she still maintained her smile and gave the person on the ground one last warning.
“If you are so unrepentant, I can only have someone take you back.”
Henriette frowned and coughed lightly. She was especially displeased with this evening.
Just then, the servants who were waiting went over and dragged the person back to the room that should have belonged to him.
The violent dragging made the man’s wounds open up again, but this time, the bl00d did not stain the ground.
“Coralee.” She called softly, with infinite affection and a hint of dissatisfaction.
“My flowers are withering.”
Coralee shook her head and smiled gently. She said.
“They won’t. I can guarantee it.”
As she spoke, a hint of bloodlust flashed in the depths of her profound eyes. The reckless look was only for the person in front of her.
Henriette laughed softly, like a pleasant wind chime. But it constantly echoed throughout the castle, making it terrifying.
The roses were attracted by her perfume and submitted at her feet. They were intoxicated and obsessed to the point where corpses were scattered everywhere, but it made her pale face look more and more like a normal person’s.
Jiang Nan pushed the door open. Her indifferent expression showed an impatience from being woken up. She glanced outside, and then a hand wrapped around her waist and dragged her back into the room.
The familiar scent behind her made her unconsciously relax, but she still said coldly.
“Let go.”
She was a light sleeper. She had indeed been woken up by Henriette. But she was certain that when she got up to open the door, Luo Ning was still lying in bed sleeping. How did she wake up so soon?
Luo Ning slightly shook her head. She buried her face in Jiang Nan’s neck and sniffed lightly. She frowned and said.
“Something’s wrong with you.”
With that, she let out a cold laugh. A sinister aura grew in her eyes. A terrifying pressure came down, and she said without mercy.
“Another one who overestimates herself is taking matters into her own hands.”
As she spoke, something violently hit the closed window. The intense vibration made a pile of petals fall to the floor. After a wailing bird cry, it seemed to be angrily smashing the window with its body for some unknown reason.
Fortunately, the window was sturdy. The thick layer of dust only allowed Jiang Nan to see a few bloody figures outside.
They were looking for her. She could be certain.
Because Henriette had given her a rose, although it made her body feel a little better, she also found that whenever she appeared, she would give off a faint scent that was exactly the same as the decadent, rotten scent on Henriette.
No wonder only the windows on the first floor were open when they were outside. The windows on the second floor and above were all closed.
These vultures were probably originally going after Henriette, but Henriette had shifted their target to her. She was using her as a shield.
Thinking of this, her eyes showed a hint of subtlety and a hint of coldness. She forgot to push Luo Ning away. Her gaze fell on the rose she had casually placed on the table.
But the next moment, the rose on the table seemed to sense something. It was instantly consumed by flames and turned into a small pile of ash, leaving only a pile of ash on the table. The smell of burning and the perfume mixed and filled the air.
Her fingers moved slightly. Her long knife flashed with a cold light. The sharp blade was frightening. She turned her wrist, and the long knife shattered the glass, accurately hitting the thing outside and making the other vultures who still wanted to hit the window hesitate and not dare to move.
Jiang Nan was held by Luo Ning for a while. After the vulture that hit the window flew away, she was finally let go.
The aura behind her disappeared. Jiang Nan tilted her head to look at the person who was yawning and looking sleepy. Her heart was complicated.
She couldn’t deny that she didn’t mind the other person’s touch. In fact, every time, she felt a joy from the depths of her soul.
Jiang Nan knew that even if the vultures outside rushed in, she wouldn’t die, even if she was injured. But she had started to depend on the other person. The other person seemed to have some kind of appeal that made her unable to refuse.
“Luo Ning, you will always be with me, right?”
After Jiang Nan said that, she regretted it a little. She quickly glanced at Luo Ning and then pretended that nothing had happened. She walked to the table and continued to crush the flowers inside to get the juice.
Her thoughts were a little messy because of Luo Ning.
Luo Ning’s appearance was very sudden, just like the person who had saved her. She had suddenly appeared and barged into her world without warning.
In all the years she had lived, Jiang Nan had never been cared for so carefully, let alone with a strong presence like Luo Ning’s. She might have fallen into the other person’s trap, but she didn’t feel regret. At the very least, the other person had never deceived her.
Luo Ning thought about her question, rubbing her jaw for a moment. She quickly gave her answer, still smiling.
“Little Jiang Nan, have you forgotten? I said I would always be here.”
Jiang Nan looked up. There was something in the depths of her light-colored eyes. She said.
“You want to get out of here, right?”
This was what Luo Ning had told her at the beginning. At that time, she didn’t know why Luo Ning wanted so-called freedom. Now, she seemed to understand the other person’s thoughts a little.
Because the evil here was endless, because the players were being toyed with by the Main God.
Luo Ning didn’t expect Jiang Nan to ask this. The depths of her profound eyes were unreadable, but she saw that Jiang Nan was no longer looking at her. She was looking down and crushing the things in the container. She heard the other person speak.
“I’ll help you.”
She thought that Luo Ning might have known from the beginning that she had the ability to name anyone as the boss.
Perhaps, this was the reason Luo Ning had approached her.
“But you have to stay by my side until I find her.” Jiang Nan said.
Her condition was very simple, but it had always been a luxury for her. Only Luo Ning could do it.
“Her?” Luo Ning came behind Jiang Nan with a soft laugh, a meaningful look in her eyes.
She was her. How was Jiang Nan going to find her?
Just then, the long knife came back with the vulture it had hit. It threw the half-dead thing on the ground and shrank back to Jiang Nan’s side.
Jiang Nan walked over. Just as she was about to reach out, Luo Ning stopped her. She smiled and said.
“It’s too dirty.”
With that, she personally picked up the vulture by its leg. Feeling the immense pressure, the vulture’s body trembled violently and it laid an egg in front of them. But when it hit the ground, the eggshell shattered, leaving only a puddle of yolk with a transparent liquid.
Jiang Nan: …
If she hadn’t seen wrong, this was a male.
Luo Ning looked at her expression and smiled. Then her gaze turned cold, sharp and terrifying. She said with an endless pressure.
“Kneel.”
Her words were not for Jiang Nan. As soon as her words fell, a dark red figure appeared next to the shattered eggshell. A sinister aura grew, making the surrounding roses wary.
“How dare you?! Do you know who this young master is!!”
The man spoke in a hoarse, unpleasant voice, but the intense pressure made him unable to look up at them.
“What is this thing?” Jiang Nan tilted her chin toward it and asked Luo Ning.
Luo Ning took the thing from Jiang Nan’s hand. She crushed it for her and then said.
“I don’t know either. Let’s call it the Egg Spirit.” After all, it was something that came out of an egg.
Hearing Luo Ning’s serious answer, Jiang Nan couldn’t help but turn her head and curl her lips. But the other person was furious.
“This young master is the only son of the Earl! I am here to marry Miss Henriette…”
He babbled on about a lot of things, but Jiang Nan and Luo Ning clearly had no interest in listening.
The two of them didn’t know how to make perfume. They were just casually crushing the roses they had picked to get the juice, which would be enough to deal with Henriette’s interrogation tomorrow.
The long night was cold. A cold wind blew through the window. The corpse lying in the puddle of bl00d had its fingers move slightly. After some time, its twisted and terrifying expression gradually eased. A few “clacking” sounds of bones cracking were hair-raising. They only saw the person on the ground, as if unaccustomed to the stiffness of his body, sitting up rigidly.
On the side of the window, groups of red vultures were crowded together, scrambling to look inside. Their wailing cries were noisy.
The man turned his head stiffly. His pale face had a sinister smile. The large, bloody hole in his chest showed his death.
The roses around him squirmed away, as if they had touched something dirty.
The man stood up, carefully sniffing the smell in the air. When he walked out of the room, he scanned the entire hallway and confirmed his target.
He knocked on the door of room #1, waiting for the person inside to open the door.
“Get lost.”
The person inside was clearly woken up again and wasn’t in a good mood.
The man’s bloodless face looked terrifyingly creepy under the light.
