She's Crazy, I Love Her - Chapter 34
Qi You had just changed her clothes and emerged when Zhou Wei thrust a bank card into her hand.
“I’ve already had the race footage, the GoPro footage from the car, and the Vbox data retrieved,” Zhou Wei said, tapping the card. “The PIN is my birthday.”
Qi You took the card and glanced at it. It was Zhou Wei’s usual black card for daily expenses. “Is Pei Yi dead?”
“The paramedics provisionally diagnosed him with traumatic shock and he’s already been taken away,” Zhou Wei replied coldly.
Qi You nodded and pocketed the card.
Zhou Wei was infuriated by her nonchalant expression. Her voice suddenly flared with anger: “Qi You!”
Qi You finally looked at her, offering a perfunctory consolation: “On the track, life and death are your own responsibility. We signed waivers before getting into the cars—”
“Bullshit!” Zhou Wei swore, glaring at her. “Do you think the Pei Family will care about that? If Pei Yi dies, they’ll turn into rabid dogs! Waivers? What are you even thinking?”
Qi You wiped the spittle that had landed on her face.
Zhou Wei exhaled deeply, then exhaled again, waving her hand dismissively. “Forget it. I won’t waste my breath scolding you. You never listen anyway. What’s done is done. Let’s just leave it to fate.”
Qi You hummed in agreement and walked straight out.
Zhou Wei instantly grew even angrier, grabbing her arm, her voice nearly cracking. “You! You have nothing to say?”
Qi You asked, “Say what?”
Zhou Wei retorted, “Your affairs, your little lover!”
“Chi Yue?”
“Who else?” Zhou Wei jabbed a finger at her. “I’m telling you, Aunt will never forgive you this time. She’ll likely send you away for re-education. Then, without food or water, let’s see how arrogant you remain.”
Qi You replied, “That won’t happen.”
“How won’t it?” Zhou Wei glared. “I’ve seen this a hundred times. Every troublemaker gets sent away! Remember Pei Yi? It’s the same playbook!”
This was undeniable.
“Fine, I won’t scold you.” Zhou Wei forced herself to calm down for a few seconds before managing to arrange, “If you need money, call me. I can stretch my allowance to support you—and your little lover too. I’ll keep an eye on her for you. Don’t worry.”
Qi You smiled and readily agreed, “Okay.”
Zhou Wei huffed through her nose. “This is such a headache!”
The two women left the locker room.
Chi Yue, the “little lover,” was waiting outside.
The moment Zhou Wei saw her, she pulled out her phone. “Come on, let’s exchange contact information.”
Chi Yue glanced at Qi You, who nodded in agreement.
As the group descended to the first-floor lobby, they encountered Guan Zhaobin.
“Miss Qi,” Guan Zhaobin hurried over and blocked their path. “Please wait a moment.”
Qi You stopped. “Young Master Guan.”
Her expression remained calm, her tone polite, as if nothing had happened.
Guan Zhaobin’s heart sank, but he maintained his composure. “I was just heading to the hospital to wait for Pei Yi to wake up. Why don’t we go together?”
Qi You replied, “I have other matters to attend to. I’ll pass.”
Guan Zhaobin’s expression darkened slightly. “After such an incident, it wouldn’t be right for Miss Qi to simply walk away, would it?”
“What’s wrong with that?” Zhou Wei sneered, defiant. “Eldest Young Master Guan has been racing for years. Doesn’t he know that drivers assume full responsibility for life and death on the track? He signed the waiver himself in black and white. Now he can’t handle the consequences? Getting cold feet?”
Qi You added, “Pei Yi’s condition is still uncertain. Young Master Guan needn’t worry about me running away so soon.”
Cornered by their taunts, Guan Zhaobin’s face turned ugly. He forced himself to remain calm. “Miss Qi truly has a remarkable composure.”
“Thank you for the concession,” Qi You said with a nod.
Guan Zhaobin’s lips twitched.
“I’ve heard Young Master Guan and Young Master Pei share a deep brotherly bond,” Qi You continued, meeting his gaze. “Please convey this message: if Young Master Pei is still aggrieved upon waking, he is welcome to gather evidence and file a lawsuit. I will face it.”
Her words were directed at both Pei Yi and the Pei Family.
With that, she turned and left.
Behind her, someone muttered, “That woman’s gone completely mad…”
Outside, Zhou Wei finally exhaled in relief and asked Qi You, “Where are you headed now? Back to Little Tantan Mountain?”
Before Qi You could answer, Zhou Wei waved her hand. “Ah, it doesn’t matter. No one’s at Little Tantan Mountain anyway. Call your aunt or your dad right away. This isn’t something you can handle alone. You need to talk it out.”
“Okay,” Qi You replied.
Zhou Wei gestured to someone, who approached and handed Qi You the car’s dashcam footage and diagnostic data, along with a hard drive containing backup footage from the racetrack cameras.
“Everything should be complete, as you requested,” the person said.
Qi You thanked them.
“By the way, can you still drive a regular car? Want a ride?” Zhou Wei asked.
“Why wouldn’t I be able to?” Qi You countered.
Zhou Wei said, “It’s just that I’m afraid you’ll get addicted to racing and try to take off!”
Qi You replied, “You’re overthinking it.”
“Either way, I’m never riding in your car again,” Zhou Wei said, rolling her eyes. She then turned to Chi Yue. “As long as my little sister isn’t scared.”
Chi Yue blinked, slightly taken aback.
Zhou Wei gave Chi Yue a sympathetic look and waved her fingers. “Bye-bye, Xiao Chi.”
“…Bye-bye,” Chi Yue replied.
Qi You ignored them, opened the car door, and gestured. “Get in.”
Chi Yue murmured an acknowledgment, walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, and settled into the seat.
In total, they had spent less than three hours at the club. They had arrived just after seven, and the minute hand on Chi Yue’s watch hadn’t yet reached the twelve.
Chi Yue silently placed the wristwatch Qi You had given her earlier into the center console.
The car glided smoothly down the road, no different from the drive there. The headlights illuminated the way, casting shifting shadows of roadside trees across the pavement.
As they merged onto the main highway, the view suddenly widened.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Qi You asked.
Chi Yue leaned against the window, her dark hair loosely gathered behind her head. The delicate curve of her jawline stretched down her neck, her skin almost translucent. A pearl dangled from her exquisite earlobe.
Without turning, she replied softly, “I don’t know what to say.”
A brief silence settled in the car. Qi You reached out, pinched Chi Yue’s chin between two fingers, and gently turned her face toward her.
Their eyes met.
After several seconds, Chi Yue finally reached out and grasped Qi You’s wrist, her tone softening. “Drive carefully.”
Qi You didn’t insist, withdrawing her hand and placing it back on the steering wheel.
Chi Yue could only watch her.
After a long silence, Chi Yue asked, “Are you going home later?”
“No,” Qi You replied. “I’ll stay with you.”
“I don’t need you to stay,” Chi Yue said, pressing her lips together. “After what happened, you should listen to Miss Zhou and go home quickly.”
Qi You glanced at her. “Don’t worry. It’s just a minor incident.”
“How can it be minor?” Chi Yue asked anxiously.
“On the racetrack, everyone assumes their own risks. It’s a universally accepted rule,” Qi You explained. “Besides, I didn’t sabotage him. Pei Yi lost control simply because he lacked skill. Even if he files a complaint with the arbitration committee, it won’t change the outcome.”
“The current trouble is only arising because he looks so pitiful and the Pei Family has some influence.”
Qi You continued, “The Pei Family should be used to this. They’ve forced others to suffer in silence before. Now the tables have turned, and it’s their turn to taste the bitterness.”
“Others? Are you talking about Pei Yi’s girlfriend?”
Qi You nodded. “His first love.”
Chi Yue let out a soft “Ah.”
Qi You gave her time to process the information.
“Then,” Chi Yue paused, guessing, “did you do this to avenge that girl?”
“Of course not,” Qi You said, looking at her. “I’ve never even met her.”
“Oh,” Chi Yue replied.
“But that doesn’t change the fact that Pei Yi deserves to be punished,” Qi You insisted.
Chi Yue’s fingers scraped against the seatbelt, her eyelids drooping slightly. After a long pause, she murmured, “But you don’t have the right to punish others…”
She hadn’t fallen into Qi You’s verbal trap.
“And it’s so dangerous,” Chi Yue continued, raising her eyes. “So dangerous.”
“You could get hurt, you could die. I still don’t understand why you’re doing this.”
“You… aren’t you afraid?”
Aren’t you afraid?
Qi You stared at the road shrinking ahead.
The night was deep, and the city ahead blazed with vibrant neon lights—a bustling metropolis, both dazzling and utterly ordinary.
But Qi You knew that those crimson, indigo, and eerie green lights were actually the eyes of creation, densely packed in the darkness, adorning a grotesque and ancient face. They were watching her, scrutinizing her every move through this esophagus, whispering and muttering, occasionally erupting into piercing screams.
How strange.
Chi Yue was actually asking her if she was afraid.
Afraid of what? Of getting hurt? Of dying?
The car entered the underground parking garage. They got out, the car doors slamming shut with a thunderous echo in the silent space.
They stepped into the elevator.
Qi You saw her reflection in the elevator’s metallic, textured wall, the magnetic patterns subtly distorting her image, stretching it into a warped version of herself.
Suddenly, she remembered dying in an elevator.
Staring at her distorted reflection, she tried to recall more details, but nothing came.
Perhaps it hadn’t happened at all. Maybe dying in the elevator was just a figment of her imagination. For a long time, she had been as skittish as a startled bird when it came to death, scrutinizing every mundane scene in her daily life, terrified that her next step would plunge her into hell.
“President Qi,” Chi Yue said, drawing her attention. “Your phone is ringing.”
Qi You hummed in acknowledgment, then realized she was already sitting on the sofa, gnawing on her fingers—a bad habit of the original body that muscle memory occasionally resurfaced.
Accustomed to her shifting focus, Qi You grabbed a tissue from the table, wiped her hands, and reached for her phone.
It was Zhou Wei, reporting that the hospital’s initial assessment indicated Pei Yi was out of immediate danger.
Qi You hung up and tossed the phone onto the table with too much force, sending it skidding off the edge and crashing to the floor.
So hard to kill.
Leaning back against the sofa, Qi You tilted her head to gaze at Chi Yue.
She stared for a long moment.
Then, she turned and knelt on the sofa, crawling from one end to the other. Reaching out her arms, she said to Chi Yue, “Give me a hug.”
Chi Yue felt a flicker of fear at Qi You’s current state, but after a moment’s hesitation, she approached.
Qi You simply held her, her arms wrapped tightly around Chi Yue’s waist, her palms pressing firmly against her back. It was a fierce, desperate embrace, as if trying to meld Chi Yue into her very bones.
Chi Yue’s arms were completely filled by Qi You’s embrace.
It was a little painful, but bearable.
Hesitantly, Chi Yue placed her hand on Qi You’s head, her fingertips gently combing through her hair.
“Qi You,” she murmured softly, “what’s wrong?”
“I…” Qi You began.
Suddenly, Qi You tilted her head back, pressed her hand against the back of Chi Yue’s head, and silenced her with a brutal kiss, roughly devouring her tongue.
Chi Yue reluctantly complied for a moment before pushing her away, unable to endure the intensity.
Fortunately, Qi You released her easily.
Chi Yue gasped for breath, staring at her, still shaken. Qi You had broken into a sweat in that brief moment, her face flushed with desire, her eyes fixed on Chi Yue with a feigned tenderness.
“Chi Yue…”
Qi You reached out, her fingers brushing against the hair at Chi Yue’s temple, the heel of her hand kneading her neck with restrained force.
She murmured softly, “I want…”
Their noses brushed, their lips barely touching.
“I want…”
Her hands cupped Chi Yue’s face, her lips lightly capturing hers, a delicate tug before releasing.
The overwhelming carnal hunger made her voice tremble slightly.
“I want to devour you.”
Or perhaps, please devour me.
