Shrouded Sky - Chapter 30 - Nobodies
Li Changqing took a few steps forward, revealing a playful smile, and said, “This is between Liu Yiyi and Wang Yan. If they wanted to trade, that’s their business. Ye Fan, aren’t you meddling a bit too much?”
Slap!
Ye Fan said nothing and directly swung his right hand forcefully, slapping him across the face with a loud crack that stunned everyone.
Li Changqing flew more than two meters like a scarecrow, which showed how powerful that slap was.
He crashed to the ground, half his face swelling immediately, bl00d trickling from the corner of his mouth, his mind blank. After a moment, he shouted furiously, “You—”
But Ye Fan didn’t even glance at him. His utter contempt was expressed through total disregard, treating him like thin air, as if he didn’t exist at all.
“Give it back,” Ye Fan simply repeated two words, calmly looking at Liu Yunzhi and Wang Yan.
Li Changqing struggled to stand, burning with rage, and rushed forward to grab Ye Fan’s collar.
Unfortunately, before his fingers even touched Ye Fan’s clothes, Ye Fan struck him again with a backhand slap on the other cheek—just as indifferent as before—sending him flying like swatting a fly.
It was another solid, powerful slap. Li Changqing flew back and slammed into a tree, completely dazed.
“Give it back,” Ye Fan repeated those same two words, still calmly staring at Wang Yan and Liu Yunzhi.
This time, Wang Yan was completely intimidated. Her eyes darted around, not daring to meet Ye Fan’s gaze. She looked to the side and mumbled, “I never said I wouldn’t return it. I was just talking to her about it…”
Unfortunately, her words lacked confidence, and her voice trailed off before she corrected herself, saying, “Since Yiyi wants it back, I’ll return it, okay?”
As she spoke, she took the string of glistening prayer beads from her wrist and was about to hand them to Ye Fan. But at that moment, Liu Yunzhi finally spoke.
“Ye Fan, aren’t you being too overbearing? Who do you think Li Changqing is?” he questioned.
Only then did Li Changqing fully regain his senses. He shouted loudly and was about to charge over again.
Pang Bo, standing nearby, curled his lip in disdain and said, “Go ahead and try if you want another beating.”
Hearing that, Li Changqing immediately lost his nerve. He kept shouting from a distance but didn’t dare take another step forward.
“Why did you treat Li Changqing like that?” Liu Yunzhi questioned Ye Fan.
“Why did you hit me?” Li Changqing shouted in rage.
“Do I need to explain myself to a fly? Just swat it,” Ye Fan replied, speaking to Liu Yunzhi, still not sparing Li Changqing a single glance.
“You… what did you just say?” At that moment, Li Changqing’s swollen face turned pale and then red. He almost spat bl00d from rage. He could tell Ye Fan didn’t even respect Liu Yunzhi, and completely looked down on him. He wasn’t even worth arguing with, which deeply wounded his pride.
Ye Fan stretched out his right hand. Wang Yan quickly placed the prayer beads in his palm, avoiding eye contact and stepping back a few steps.
“We all know Yiyi’s had a rough few years. She’s been through a lot and it’s really affected her—she’s become timid and lacks confidence. This kind of trauma takes time to heal. I suggest you show some restraint. Watch what you say and do. Don’t pick on her in this state—have some shame!” Ye Fan warned Wang Yan in a low voice.
After hearing such harsh words, Wang Yan’s face turned pale. She was both ashamed and angry, but mostly afraid. She stepped back again, not daring to say another word.
“Ye Fan, you’ve gone too far!” Liu Yunzhi’s expression darkened.
Everyone was watching, but no one spoke. Just when they thought Ye Fan was going to walk away, he suddenly threw a punch that landed hard on Liu Yunzhi’s face.
In an instant, bl00d sprayed from Liu Yunzhi’s nose and mouth, and his face was covered in bruises as he collapsed backward onto the ground.
“You—” He never expected Ye Fan would actually hit him too.
“I’ve been ignoring you, and yet you keep provoking me. Do you really think I’m easygoing?” Ye Fan said calmly, glancing at him with disdain, then turned to leave.
“Ye Fan!” Liu Yunzhi growled through clenched teeth, lying on the ground, wiping the bl00d from his nose and mouth. “Just you wait!”
Hearing this, Pang Bo immediately rushed over and kicked him hard. “Wait for what? You wanna go? Say it to my face!”
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Pang Bo kicked him more than ten times in a row, sending Liu Yunzhi flying far away, until he eventually passed out.
The others watched everything unfold but didn’t try to intervene. Many of them already disliked Liu Yunzhi. Back in the old world, they might have tolerated him, but in this new world, no one cared about his status anymore.
Even the two or three people who might’ve spoken up for Liu Yunzhi chose to stay silent. They knew when Ye Fan showed his edge, the smart move was not to mess with him.
“Did everyone see that…” Li Changqing still didn’t understand the situation and continued yelling, looking around at the crowd.
No one responded except Pang Bo, who walked over after finishing his beating and said, “Yeah, we all saw it.”
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Pang Bo’s big foot struck like a sandbag, kicking Li Changqing and sending him rolling like a dead pig, screaming miserably.
The group didn’t delay further and continued on their way. Wang Yan helped Liu Yunzhi and Li Changqing up, the three of them trailing at the rear of the group.
At that moment, Liu Yunzhi and Li Changqing were seething, humiliated beyond belief. It was utterly disgraceful. At the same time, they felt like vomiting bl00d. It was clear now that Ye Fan had never taken them seriously—not even a little. He treated everything they had done as beneath his notice.
This kind of calm, dismissive contempt crushed their pride. It made them feel like clowns—unworthy of even being acknowledged. Ye Fan only swatted them away like flies when he got annoyed. They weren’t even considered equals.
Nothing was more humiliating than that—being treated like nobodies.
An hour later, the group crossed a low mountain and could clearly see the buildings on the distant high mountain. Meanwhile, the animal roars in the surrounding mountains grew louder—it looked like they were finally exiting the Forbidden Ancient Realm.
“Let’s go a bit farther, then we’ll stop and rest.” After spending most of the day trekking through the mountains, everyone was indeed exhausted.
After climbing another peak, they finally began to see birds flying around. Soon, they entered a vibrant world filled with bird calls, animal roars, lush plants, and signs of life—no longer the eerie lifelessness from before.
“There’s a rabbit over there!”
“And a badger!”
Seeing wild animals made many people drool. They were tired of eating bland fruit.
“Hey, there are characters carved into that stone wall!” someone suddenly pointed out.
On a stone wall ahead, several giant ancient characters were carved.
The first two characters they had seen before: Forbidden Ancient. And now, the third character was finally confirmed to be Realm.
“Why are we seeing those words again? Did we not leave the forbidden zone?”
“No, it’s the opposite. This proves we’ve exited—it’s the edge of the Forbidden Ancient Realm. We’re finally safe.”
“Let’s rest here. We’ll probably see signs of civilization soon.”
The group split into small circles of two or three people, sitting down to rest and discuss their future plans. It was obvious that they would soon go their separate ways.
“I’m going to check what Liu Yunzhi and those three are doing. They seem suspicious,” Pang Bo said as he stood and slipped into the nearby woods.
Not long after, Pang Bo returned and whispered a few words into Ye Fan’s ear.
“We’re about to leave the mountains, and everyone will go their own way. In this mysterious world, gods and immortals may truly exist. If those three get power, they’ll be a threat sooner or later—and that would be real trouble. Better to prevent it now,” Ye Fan said as he stood up. His tone was calm, but he had already made a decision about their fate.
