Sir, You've Got The Wrong Person - Chapter 11
Yan Yiyi looked at the hand holding her chin, then slowly looked up at Jun Tianyu’s face.
“Oh? And how exactly does Your Highness plan to help me get rid of Young Master Chu?”
Jun Tianyu looked at her, the corner of his lips curling into a faint smile.
“Marry you,” he said.
Yan Yiyi froze for a moment, then let out a soft laugh.
“Your Highness, there’s no need to joke like that. I’m of lowly status, unworthy of someone as noble as you. Better not ruin your reputation over such a thing.”
“I don’t mind, so why should you?”
“You’re not joking?” Her eyes narrowed suspiciously as she studied his refined yet slightly wicked face. Dropping her polite evasions, Yan Yiyi spoke bluntly,
“I don’t understand why Your Highness would say something like this, but I’m sure it’s not because you have feelings for me. I hope you won’t make light of your own marriage.”
Jun Tianyu’s eyes lifted at the corners, giving him a sly look.
“And how do you know that I’m not going to marry you just because I like you?”
“I may be foolish, but I know myself. Someone like Your Highness would never fall for someone as plain as me.”
Jun Tianyu chuckled.
“Well, you are self-aware. To be honest, I haven’t found a woman in this world who truly captures my attention. But I don’t mind giving you the position of a concubine. After all, you risked your life for me today — I should repay you properly, shouldn’t I?”
“If Your Highness really wishes to repay me, please take back your words. I can’t bear such wealth and status.” Seeing that Jun Tianyu seemed serious, Yan Yiyi’s face turned cold.
“Besides, even if this marriage could help me get away from Young Master Chu, I will never reveal the person behind me to Your Highness. Such a move would harm others without benefiting myself — I hope you’ll reconsider.”
“Harm others without benefit to yourself?” Jun Tianyu savored her words with interest.
“I never do anything meaningless. Even if you don’t tell me, I’ll find out who’s backing you sooner or later. As for this marriage…”
He paused briefly, then suddenly smiled.
“Miss Rumeng, you just get ready to be my bride.”
“Prince Yu!” Yan Yiyi grew anxious and tried to get up to argue with him, but the pain from her wounds forced her to sit back down.
Jun Tianyu glanced at the bl00d-stained bandage on her shoulder.
“Miss Rumeng, don’t get so worked up. If your wound tears open, you’ll be the one to suffer. This is settled. I’ll send someone to make the arrangements tomorrow. You should rest here tonight.”
With that, he walked over to another couch in the room and turned off the lamp.
Yan Yiyi glared at him through the darkness, feeling frustrated. With her injuries and no allies, she was powerless to resist if he really forced her into this marriage. She couldn’t tell if he’d discovered something and was using this as leverage.
If Aunt Mei knew that the person she’d saved turned out to be an ungrateful wolf, would she still have sent her on this thankless errand?
“Miss Rumeng, have you heard the story of the farmer and the snake?” His voice came from the darkness, eyes gleaming faintly as they rested on her.
“You really shouldn’t have been like that farmer,” Jun Tianyu said lazily. After that, he turned over and ignored her frustration.
Yan Yiyi stared at his back, raising her hand a few times, wanting to block his pressure points — but each time, she let it drop. Her current state of weakness made it inevitable for him to subdue her before she could get close.
Of course she knew the story: a farmer saved a frozen snake, only to be bitten to death when the snake was revived.
She hadn’t saved him out of pity, but she had been fooled by his so-called kindness. Now she realized he was just as cunning and dangerous as anyone else — and she had fallen into his trap.
Thinking about it, Jun Tianyu and Chu Mufeng really were alike. Both had charming faces — one a bit more seductive, the other more elegant — but beneath the surface, they were equally ruthless.
She didn’t know what god she’d offended to end up entangled with both of them, and both were now scheming to drag her to the altar. Was this whole marriage thing really so amusing to them?
Letting out a helpless sigh, Yan Yiyi lay back down. No use worrying over the problem now — better to get some rest and think of a solution tomorrow.
The pain in her shoulder throbbed and kept her awake. She turned slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position, but something hard pressed against her side.
Only then did Yan Yiyi remember the jade pendant she had hidden in her clothes. She carefully reached inside and pulled it out.
She had kept this pendant close for nearly six years. Although it was a bit old now, the pendant’s greenish sheen remained clear. On the back, a single carved character, “Che,” stood out plainly.
Her fingers traced the familiar character, and her gaze grew distant.
In all honesty, she remained unaware of the original owner of the pendant.
At the age of fourteen, a plum blossom forest lured her into the Guiyan Sect’s territory, miasma poisoned her, and a deadly formation caught her in its grasp. She’d triggered a trap and nearly died under a barrage of arrows.
But just as death seemed certain, a young man in black robes, wearing a silver mask, appeared and saved her with incredible speed. He even personally carried her to safety.
“Little girl, the more beautiful something is, the more dangerous it is. If you want to stay alive, best stay put in your own chamber,” he said coldly before turning to leave.
“Wait! Why did you save me?”
Still young and naive, she grabbed his hand and asked urgently.
His deep voice was cold and uncaring, and he withdrew his hand emotionlessly.
“On impulse only.”
“Oh…” she muttered, feeling awkward. But then she stepped in front of him again.
“Anyway, thank you for saving my life. I’ll repay you someday. My name is Yan Yiyi — what’s yours?”
He seemed faintly amused by her determination.
“Little girl, don’t make promises so lightly. I saved you just by chance, and even if you wanted to repay me, you couldn’t.”
“I can!” she blurted out, stung by his words.
“You saved my life, and I owe you a debt. Whatever you want in return, I’ll pay it back. I, Yan Yiyi, always keep my word!”
He looked at her bold declaration and gave a small, dismissive smile before turning away again.
“Wait! You haven’t told me your name — how will I repay you in the future?”
Panicked, she impulsively hugged him from behind and stealthily snatched the jade pendant from his waist, thinking she’d need proof to recognize him later.
Although her movement was subtle, he still noticed it. She narrowly avoided his strike, staggered back, and yelled, “I just wanted a token!” If you ever come to claim your reward, just describe this pendant, and I’ll know it’s really you!”
But her words didn’t stop his attacks. Clearly, the pendant was important to him. In her panic, she froze as he struck again — only for his hand to halt an inch from her throat. Just then Aunt Mei showed up, detonating a smoke bomb to take her away.
And from then on, the pendant stayed with her.
Besides the character “Che” on it, she knew nothing about the man’s name. She could only guess that it might be part of his name. Judging by his skill, he must have held a high position in the cult — though she had no idea exactly who he was.
Perhaps this all occurred when she was young and impressionable, but in that moment of life-and-death danger, the cold, mysterious man who saved her left a deep mark on her heart. Even when he nearly killed her afterward, the way his hand had stopped at the last second… somehow, it had won over her teenage heart.
All these years, she’d wanted to return the pendant, and perhaps, deep down, she also wished to see him once more and repay him.
However, the man had disappeared without any trace. No matter how hard she searched, she found no clue.
She had even tried investigating through the Guiyan Sect, but they were as secretive as the man himself. Although they are infamous as the number-one demonic cult, the Guiyan Sect has maintained a low profile in recent years, and the hidden formations in the plum forest have changed significantly.
After encountering numerous obstacles, she gradually surrendered, opting to rely solely on fate. If they were meant to meet again, so be it; if not, it wasn’t meant to be.
Two years ago, while visiting Dongze’s eastern capital, she had spotted Chu Mufeng wearing a mask.
Back then, she didn’t know who he was — but his build and jawline had reminded her so much of that mysterious man that she had followed him out of curiosity…
And that was how this whole tangled mess began.
She once believed he was that mysterious man. Everything about him—his build, his jawline, his gaze, even that cold aura—was eerily similar, all except the voice. She had even tried to test him with the jade pendant but saw no flicker of recognition in his eyes, not even the slightest ripple. He seemed completely oblivious to her subtle hints.
She didn’t know if he was simply hiding it too well or if she had been mistaken all along. But even if he truly was the same person, the man she met now was no longer the one who had once saved her and couldn’t bring himself to kill her. The palm strike he delivered six months ago could have killed her if she hadn’t dodged in time. The man who could kiss you tenderly one moment and take your life the next was someone she was better off staying far away from.
That mysterious man and her foolish, youthful crush—it was best left in the past, locked away. At least, it had accompanied her through those naive, green years. If dragged out into the harsh light and picked apart, it would only shatter whatever beauty remained.
If fate allowed, she would return this jade pendant the next time they met. And if they never crossed paths again, she’d just throw it away. After all, the character carved on the pendant was too sensitive, tied to an ugly chapter in royal history. She could never find peace in keeping it around.
As Yan Yiyi held the pendant in her hand and felt sleep slowly overtaking her, her hazy thoughts drifted away.
