Sister, Choose Me, I'm Super Sweet [Esports] - Chapter 7
Chapter 7: I Can Duo with Her
Song Jinyuan’s eyes went wide, and she sat up with a sudden flip from her bed.
“She’s streaming, she’s streaming, quick…” Song Jinyuan’s fingers moved nimbly on her tablet, entering Tong Yi’s live stream.
As soon as she entered, she saw a screen full of insults and immediately blew her top.
She furiously typed back, her fingers moving so fast they were a blur.
“God Yi can stream whenever she wants, what business is it of yours?”
“Before you mock others for being noobs, take a look at your own match history!”
“God Yi is the number one mid laner in the whole league. Anyone who has a problem with that, come challenge me.”
A familiar sound effect came from the screen. Tong Yi had opened the game “Breaker Formation” and minimized her screen to the bottom right corner.
“Don’t mind the people swearing in the chat. I’ll have the channel moderators ban anyone who’s swearing later… Today I’m solo queueing and won’t be playing with any fans. I’m also going to hide the chat for now and won’t be looking at it,” Tong Yi said in a calm tone.
Tong Yi clicked her mouse a few times, hiding the entire chat so she couldn’t see what the viewers were saying. She then sent a few messages to her moderators on her phone, telling them to start banning people, and then entered the game.
After the game started and she entered the BP (Ban/Pick) phase, Tong Yi subconsciously asked, “What hero do you want to see me play?”
After asking, she went to look at the chat, only to realize that she had already hidden it. At that moment, because a portion of the trolls had been banned, more normal people were in the live stream, and they were spamming the chat.
“Yuheng! Yuheng!!”
“Let’s see Yuheng!”
“It’s been so long since I’ve seen you play Yuheng. It’s understandable that you can’t use her in professional matches, but why not even in your streams?”
“Watching God Yi play Yuheng is a feast for the eyes, but even when she streams, she rarely uses this hero!”
“Yuheng needs a lot of team coordination. Tong Yi rarely takes her out in solo queue. Plus, her team, New Fire, wants her to practice ‘utility’ heroes now. Haven’t you noticed she rarely picks assassination mages even when streaming?”
However, Tong Yi couldn’t see any of the things they were saying.
“Then I’ll just play whatever,” Tong Yi said after a two-second pause.
“You should open the chat! Hey!!”
“Why is the streamer like this? I’m reporting you [dog head emoji].”
“It’s all because of those trolls. Now Tong Yi won’t even look at the chat from us normal people.”
Soon, Tong Yi chose the hero Yexuan Ying to play mid lane.
As soon as they saw her pick this hero, the live stream chat went crazy, and the messages sped up.
“This hero again? Haven’t you been abused enough with her in pro matches?”
“Streamer, do you have some sort of masochistic tendency…?”
“You play a utility hero in pro matches and you’re a utility hero in your streams. Are you addicted to being a utility player?”
“Today I’ll teach you all how to play Yexuan Ying as a core mage. This hero isn’t just for utility,” Tong Yi said while adjusting her runes.
Soon, the game began.
“Welcome to Breaker Formation!”
With Tong Yi’s control, her Yexuan Ying quickly arrived in the mid lane.
At the start, Tong Yi pinged her support and then pinged to group up, hoping her support would understand her signal and come with her to clear the lane.
The first wave of minions in the mid lane is especially important. A mid laner with lane priority can get things done early, like roaming, invading the enemy jungle, or setting up vision. Tong Yi planned to invade the enemy jungle after she gained lane priority.
The typical way to clear the mid lane is with your support, but clearing with your jungler is also an option. However, the latter is rarely seen in public matches and is usually only common in professional play.
Tong Yi saw her support follow the marksman to the bottom lane, completely ignoring her signal.
“Alright, I knew this support wouldn’t come. It looks like the support and marksman have couple IDs,” Tong Yi said, looking like she was used to this.
Anything can happen in public matches, so this situation was completely normal.
“But it doesn’t matter, the enemy mid laner isn’t a fast clearer either,” Tong Yi continued.
Soon, the two mid laners met, and as expected, the enemy couldn’t out-clear Tong Yi. Tong Yi quickly finished off the minions and went straight to the enemy jungle. With a precise W skill, she froze the enemy jungler in place and quickly stole their blue buff.
“??? Holy crap.”
“Newcomers to the live stream, don’t be shocked. This is God Yi’s normal operation, seriously.”
“It’s just a public match. What’s there to brag about? Why don’t you do this in a professional match?”
“If you don’t like it, can you leave? Why are you watching and swearing at the same time? I really don’t get it.”
“Now that we have the blue buff, our whole early game will be very easy,” Tong Yi said to her viewers while playing.
Seeing the infuriated enemy jungler about to chase her, Tong Yi quickly retreated.
“At this point, we have no skills, so don’t get caught up in a fight.”
Tong Yi’s Yexuan Ying started roaming to the bottom lane with the blue buff, and soon after, she got the first bl00d on the enemy marksman.
“God Yi is strong as expected.”
“Have you really not considered switching teams? Your current teammates are too weak.”
“I’m sending a plea in bl00d for you to switch teams. sends a cat tower gift x1.”
“Thank you… thank you to the fan who sent the cat tower. I’m sorry, I can’t see the IDs right now, only the gift effects. I’ll turn the chat back on later. Thank you all.” Tong Yi looked at the cat tower gift effect on the screen and thanked them.
Even though she had hidden the chat, she could still see the gift effects, just not who sent them.
“What’s the deal? You’re so brave, you won’t even say the most important ID. How can you possibly know we all want you to switch teams??”
“Give it up. She’s seen this message before, she’s not going to listen.”
“Open your chat! It’s been so many years, are you still scared of getting sworn at?”
After Tong Yi got three consecutive kills, the jungler on her team sent a text message in the team chat.
“Mid is so good. Your skills are so accurate.”
When Tong Yi saw the jungler’s message, she immediately started typing back.
“Stick with me, I’ll give you the kills.”
The jungler was very obedient. As soon as they saw the message, they quickly came over.
A short time later, the jungler got a kill by following Tong Yi, then a second, and a third. The double and triple kill announcements kept ringing out, and their pace of getting kills was unstoppable.
Tong Yi gave almost every kill to the jungler, who was now incredibly rich, with the highest gold on the entire team.
“Ahhh, I’m so jealous! I want God Yi to give me kills too!”
“When will I ever be able to play a game with Tong Yi?!”
“I also want to experience this feeling of stomping the other team.”
“This jungler’s face must be so happy right now. They’ve never had such an easy game.”
“Any jungler who teams up with Tong Yi can stomp. I can’t even imagine what a top-tier mid-jungle duo would be like. I really want to see Captain Tong link up with a world-class jungler.”
“You can all take a screenshot of my item build now. This is a build I researched myself. Not many people are using Yexuan Ying as a core mage right now, so you can use this build as a reference.”
Tong Yi hadn’t used Yexuan Ying much before. She started practicing her this season. This hero’s pick rate is not high in casual games. She’s usually used more in professional matches, but only as a utility hero. The core mage build is basically non-existent.
Therefore, many people in the live stream were taking screenshots of Tong Yi’s item build.
“Already saved. I’m going to try it out tonight.”
“Watching this is making my hands feel hot. I have to go start a game right now. Sisters, wait for my results!”
“God Yi, who else would treat me like a noob after I leave you?”
“Even though you’re a beast on core mage Yexuan Ying, I still want to see you play Yuheng. Please, use Yuheng next game!”
This game ended without any surprises, with Tong Yi’s team having a crushing advantage. Tong Yi carried the whole game, and they took down the enemy’s crystal in under twenty minutes.
As soon as the game ended, five or six friend requests came in, including from her own jungler. Tong Yi ignored them all and prepared to start the next game.
“Oh, I almost forgot about you all… Okay, I’m opening the chat now. Watch what you say, because if you curse, you’ll be banned instantly,” Tong Yi said, unhiding the chat and reminding everyone.
After a game’s worth of time, most of the accounts that were swearing had been banned by the moderators, and now the people talking were mostly normal viewers. Seeing the chat open, everyone started sending gifts.
“Thanks to Sweet Melon is the Cutest for the cat food, and thanks to Ah Heng’s Wife #1 for the cat teaser. You’re an Ah Heng fan, what are you doing in my live stream? Thanks for all the gifts.”
The person who was called out, Ah Heng’s Wife #1, quickly replied in the chat.
“I’m here to poach you for my wife, Ah Heng. She’s said more than once on her stream that she wants to have a mid-jungle duo with you. Please join the RG team.”
Tong Yi couldn’t help but laugh when she saw this chat message.
“I’m not going to RG this year, but I can team up with Ah Heng to play. Is she streaming right now?” Tong Yi asked.
Ah Heng’s Wife #1 replied: “Not today. I saw a Weibo post from my wife, Ah Heng, saying that her team went on a team-building trip today.”
“I almost forgot. Their team did pretty well in the regular season, so they definitely deserve to celebrate.” Tong Yi took out her phone and started looking through her WeChat contacts. “I’ll send her a message to ask when she’s streaming next. I can duo with her.”
The RG team ranked third in the regular season, which was very impressive. But they had always been a strong team. Tong Yi had always admired Ah Heng, and she could definitely ask Ah Heng to duo with her. After all, her fans and viewers would love to see it, even though she didn’t know why they loved to see it.
The New Fire team was going to disband after this season. It was very possible she would become teammates with Ah Heng at RG, so getting to know her better beforehand wouldn’t be a bad idea.
