Snatching My Stepsister's White Moonlight Omega - Chapter 3
Xu Chen stared at the bubbles in her champagne, her mind racing through countless answers despite her poor memory.
Good-looking, rich, and being in a wheelchair probably makes it harder to dodge…
None of these truths were good options.
Besides, she herself was genuinely confused. Looking back, why had she been unable to tear her gaze away from this woman the moment she saw her?
Her face was utterly devoid of any hint of infatuation or passion. Not foolish, and certainly not someone who would indulge in pleasure or lust—she would be a highly convincing spokesperson for inhibitors.
“I don’t know,” Xu Chen chose the vaguest but not necessarily untrue answer. “I was panicking at the time. After seeing you, I didn’t think about anything else.”
“Hmm,” Lin Xiangwan responded noncommittally. Before her words had even settled, Xu Chen’s wrist terminal flashed.
“I just sent you a friend request via particle scan, along with my secondary card. Feel free to use it as you wish,” the wealthy woman said from her sofa, her tone as casual as if she were offering a job.
“Sure, I’ll accept it,” Xu Chen replied, gently setting down her champagne glass and activating her terminal interface.
Lin Xiangwan’s profile picture was a standard business portrait, the kind that would look perfectly at home on a corporate website or encyclopedia entry. Her social media feed was as pristine as a company annual report, filled with photos of composed, dignified elders, just as she had described.
The notification for the secondary card authorization still hovered at the top of the terminal interface. Politeness seemed pointless with someone like her, and besides, it would be useful to know the credit limit…
Xu Chen tapped the notification, indulging her curiosity.
“Universal Bank – Stellar Black Gold Credit Card secondary authorization activated and linked to your biometric data… Credit limit: Synchronized with the primary account (no preset limit)…”
Though she had once lived a life of luxury and knew she was attractive, Xu Chen still felt a dizzying rush.
A black card with no limit? Was this how cold-faced billionaires pursued people? By throwing money at them?
“You’d look better in a dress,” Lin Xiangwan said calmly. “If you start choosing now, you might still have time for a dance at the banquet.”
Xu Chen nearly grew suspicious. Was this some new kind of scam? Could there be something wrong with the card? Was this woman a fake card dealer—or even a trafficker?
“No rush,” she said, closing the terminal interface without betraying her unease. “I’ll just go to the restroom first.”
Lin Xiangwan pointed. “This way.”
“Excuse me,” Xu Chen said, rising gracefully. She walked with measured, professional steps to the restroom, closed the door, and locked it.
Leaning against the door, she listened intently for any sounds outside. She reopened her terminal and searched for Lin Xiangwan’s name again.
The encyclopedia entry showed a nearly identical photo. She quickly scanned Lin Xiangwan’s profile: ranked 37th on the Universal Star Wealth Ranking, 25 years old this year, and currently the youngest billionaire entrepreneur.
The Deep Space Technology Group’s official website also featured group photos, with the person she had just been chatting with always positioned in the center. Xu Chen verified that all the website links were legitimate.
Turning to look at her reflection in the mirror, she felt a sense of relief. She had applied light makeup for work today, but she knew she looked just as good without it. Her oval face, willow-leaf eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes, and cherry-red lips formed a rare and highly coveted classic beauty.
Good looks, high pheromone grade, intelligence, wit, and versatility—perhaps the wealthy were particularly drawn to her type? Her previous partner had been the same, though lacking the courage to defy their family.
Thinking of her ex, Xu Chen suddenly realized that their face and pheromones had already faded in her memory.
Amidst the flushing toilet, she completely banished her ex from her mind. After washing her hands and tidying her hair in the mirror, she unlocked the door and stepped out.
“I took the liberty of ordering a few outfits for you. Let’s head to the banquet hall later,” the handsome, wealthy man said, looking nothing like a con artist.
“Sounds good,” Xu Chen replied with a smile, gracefully settling onto the sofa.
The wealthy man fell silent, and Xu Chen found herself at a loss for conversation. Fortunately, the coffee table held several exquisitely shaped, bite-sized pastries, perfect for filling the awkward silence.
A pastry, most of a glass of champagne, and a cocktail later, a knock sounded at the door.
Xiao Lin strode steadily to the entrance and wheeled in a mobile clothing rack, pushing it to a clear space near the coffee table. The rack held six or seven garments in various styles and colors, while a tall stack of boxes, likely shoe boxes, sat piled on one side.
Lin Xiangwan rose and slowly approached the rack, pulling out a smoky pink evening gown. “I recommend this one.”
Among the array of clothes, this was the darkest shade. To be honest, Xu Chen preferred the pale yellow, light green, and creamy white options. But she understood that this was the only one whose color scheme complemented Lin Xiangwan’s current attire.
“Alright, I’ll try it on,” she replied tactfully.
“You can use my bedroom,” Lin Xiangwan added. “I haven’t slept in there yet.”
Xiao Lin had already taken the evening gown and was carrying a pair of shoes in its other hand as it silently walked toward the bedroom. Xu Chen smiled and followed with light steps.
Inside the bedroom, two large suitcases stood beside the wardrobe, but otherwise, there was no sign of use. The bed was neatly made, the other furniture was spotless, and the curtains were drawn.
Xiao Lin set down the shoes, removed the evening gown from its hanger, and unzipped it. “Do you need any help?”
Xu Chen took the long dress. “No, thank you.”
“Understood,” Xiao Lin replied emotionlessly, pressing a spot on the wardrobe door. The solid wood panel instantly transformed into a full-length dressing mirror.
After the robot left, Xu Chen locked the door, tossed the evening gown casually onto the bed, and began undressing with brisk efficiency.
The dressing mirror reflected her curvaceous figure: perfectly proportioned, with no excess fat around her waist. Her long, shapely legs were so smooth and pale they seemed to glow. If she didn’t usually wear long pants or skirts, she’d likely cause traffic accidents just by walking down the street.
Changing took no time at all. Xu Chen’s exceptional flexibility allowed her to effortlessly zip up the back of her dress. After tidying her hair in the mirror, she slipped into a pair of low-heeled leather shoes that matched the dress perfectly.
After neatly putting away her discarded clothes and shoes, Xu Chen pushed open the bedroom door. Lin Xiangwan, seated on the sofa, looked up at her, a fleeting expression of admiration crossing her face.
Xu Chen was pleased with this reaction. She strolled over, her gaze sweeping casually over the coffee table—now cleared of food and holding three boxes—before settling on Lin Xiangwan’s face. “Do you like it?”
Lin Xiangwan nodded. “It’s beautiful.”
Despite her words, the earlier spark of admiration didn’t reappear. Her posture remained composed, her expression unwavering, and her eyes held a familiar scrutiny that Xu Chen had grown accustomed to. It was less the gaze of a suitor and more like that of a superior assessing a subordinate.
“If you think it’s beautiful, why are you looking at me like that?” Xu Chen’s voice was soft and gentle, almost pleading.
“I don’t want to stare too much and make you uncomfortable,” Lin Xiangwan replied, her gaze fixed on Xu Chen’s eyes, her voice softening slightly.
“Alright,” Xu Chen said, satisfied, and let her off the hook, lowering her gaze to the coffee table.
The boxes were all open, their contents clearly visible: a set of gray pearl jewelry, including a hairpin and a pair of earrings, along with a makeup kit and a clutch.
“Actually, gray pearls don’t suit you as well. It was a bit selfish of me,” Lin Xiangwan said, pushing the jewelry box toward her.
The deliberate gesture revealed a pair of smoky pink gemstone cufflinks on Lin Xiangwan’s shirt cuffs.
Xu Chen chuckled softly. Even during the courtship phase, this woman was already coordinating her outfits and jewelry. Despite her leg injury, she insisted on dancing at the banquet. The reason was so obvious.
And just her luck, the one person who had nearly lost his mind upon seeing her today was now engaged.
“Hey,” she said, addressing the multi-billionaire president with playful audacity, “are you pursuing me just to make someone jealous?”
“Making someone jealous is just a bonus,” the president replied, a faint smile flickering in her eyes. “Who could resist showing off if they were with you?”
The words were sincere yet flattering, and Xu Chen wasn’t truly angry anyway. Adult emotions were rarely so pure, and she had complete confidence when dealing with Alphas—purity didn’t matter.
Besides, when she first met her so-called foster mother, the woman’s expression had been as clumsy as a bad actor’s, and her Beta sister’s face had been equally suspicious. Clearly, both were hiding something. Now that she had someone to team up with, causing them some trouble would be quite satisfying.
Xu Chen extended her slender fingers, picked up the hairpin, and examined it. “Help me with this?”
“It would be my honor.” Lin Xiangwan rose and moved behind Xu Chen, removing her original hairpin and fastening the pearl hairpin in its place. She stepped back to admire her work.
Lin Xiangwan’s gaze lingered a little too intently, Xu Chen noticed, because a pair of earrings lay quietly in the box.
Xu Chen lowered her head slightly to look at the earrings, while Lin Xiangwan’s eyes remained fixed on the hairpin. For a long moment, neither spoke.
The silence was broken when Xiao Lin entered again, carrying another suitcase. Lin Xiangwan finally moved forward, bent down, picked up one of the earrings, and gently pinched it onto Xu Chen’s earlobe.
Lin Xiangwan’s fingers were surprisingly warm, a stark contrast to her cool demeanor. A cold metal hook pierced through the small hole in Xu Chen’s ear, the pearl dangling with a slight weight. Her fingers quickly withdrew from the earlobe.
“You’re so honest,” Xu Chen sighed, a hint of dissatisfaction in her voice.
Lin Xiangwan picked up the second earring. “I could be dishonest too.”
Xu Chen chuckled softly. “Didn’t you use a Suppressant?”
Knowing the Suppressant would temporarily render Xu Chen unable to act—forcing the issue would only make her more uncomfortable—Lin Xiangwan deliberately teased her.
Warm fingers brushed through Xu Chen’s hair, tracing down behind her ear to gently pinch her earlobe.
“I brought a Reversal Agent,” Lin Xiangwan said, inserting the second earring. She stepped back, her gaze lowered to the swaying gray pearl.
“Carrying a Reversal Agent on you…” Xu Chen studied her, her eyes almost expressionless beneath long lashes. “Boss, you’re not as honest as you seem.”
“I’ve brought all the common medications, including Quasi S-Tier suppressants,” Lin Xiangwan said, looking up at her. “You can ask me for them when you need them.”
“Mmm,” Xu Chen hummed, her eyes sparkling with amusement. “Can I really have them?”
Lin Xiangwan’s gaze drifted from Xu Chen’s eyes, tracing the curve of her cheek down to her lips.
Her lips were full and delicate, coated with glossy lipstick. The corners of her mouth tilted upward in a slight smile, making them utterly alluring.
And it wasn’t just her lips. Every inch of her radiated allure, and she was clearly aware of it. Aware, yet she wielded this allure as a weapon, pairing it with mischievous intentions and cunning schemes to tease and manipulate others.
In truth, this was a good thing—far better than how she used to be. There was no need to expose her; it was best to simply play along.
“Yes,” Lin Xiangwan replied.
Her tone remained calm, but the two were so close that Xu Chen could sense the faint, almost imperceptible fluctuations in her pheromones—a subtle signal only a Quasi S-Tier could detect. It was clear this woman was suppressing something.
Xu Chen’s smile widened. “Are you afraid I’ll mark you?”
