Chapter 23: If You Don’t Mind, I Don’t Mind
To make his waistline more pronounced, Yang Yuyang even stretched, subtly revealing his attractive ab lines.
Hearing You Wenchen’s approaching footsteps, he couldn’t help but feel nervous, wondering what his reaction would be.
It would be embarrassing if he had no reaction at all QAQ.
You Wenchen picked up the jacket from the sofa and wrapped Yang Yuyang in it: “The room temperature is low. No exposing your belly button; you might get an upset stomach.”
“…You sound just like my mom.” Yang Yuyang complained about his lack of romance.
You Wenchen wrapped him up securely: “That just means old sayings hold true. No exposing your belly button, it’s not safe.”
“…Hmph!” Old sayings also say that when a beauty throws himself at you, you shouldn’t be unromantic!
You Wenchen reached out and pinched his cheek: “This is for your own good. Don’t be sulky, come down for dinner.”
Yang Yuyang lifted the blanket covering his legs. His sleep shorts were extremely brief, and his well-proportioned, long legs were very eye-catching.
You Wenchen didn’t even spare a glance, grabbing a pair of pants casually from the nearby cabinet.
Yang Yuyang gritted his teeth: “What are you doing? Will wearing shorts give me an upset stomach too?”
“No, I’m worried about your old man’s cold legs. Be obedient.” You Wenchen soothed him with a gentle tone.
Yang Yuyang felt like he was about to be roasted alive, thanks to his anger.
He reluctantly put on the pants, frowning as he followed You Wenchen downstairs for dinner.
Is it that he has no charm, or is You Wenchen truly unromantic!
“Oh, why the long face? Wenchen, did you bully Yangyang?” Auntie chuckled teasingly, seeing Yang Yuyang looking grumpy for the first time.
You Wenchen held Yang Yuyang’s hand, smiling: “The little one has a little morning grumpiness.”
“No grumpy faces, no grumpy faces. Auntie made you some corn soup. Wenchen, you feed Yangyang.” Auntie tried hard to create an opportunity for them.
You Wenchen served a bowl of soup, blew on it to cool it, and brought it to Yang Yuyang’s mouth: “Good boy Yangyang, time to eat.”
With his tone so gentle, Yang Yuyang’s anger subsided slightly.
If this tactic doesn’t work, I’ll try another one!
That night, Yang Yuyang worked hard, watching three romance movies at thirty-six times the speed, summarizing the three essential elements for pursuing someone.
First, be willing to spend money.
He was very willing, but You Wenchen never gave him the chance. It was always You Wenchen spending money.
Second, show concern from morning till night, ideally by providing a loving breakfast.
Wuwu, but he can’t get up, and he can’t cook breakfast. You Wenchen is the one who cooks.
Third, cater to their interests and develop more common topics.
He and You Wenchen didn’t seem to have many common topics. Wait, they did. You Wenchen would talk to him a lot about ACG (Anime, Comics, Games), but he didn’t know how to talk to You Wenchen about business.
The little lamb lay dejectedly on the bed. Why am I so useless?
Could his mother be right? Is he truly a reincarnation of uselessness!
“Yangyang, why aren’t you resting yet?” You Wenchen noticed the light still on in Yang Yuyang’s room and came in to check on him.
Usually, at this hour, Yang Yuyang would be well into his second dream.
“Is something bothering you?” Seeing his troubled face, You Wenchen was also worried.
Yang Yuyang looked at him mournfully. If you would just lie down and let me have my way with you, I wouldn’t be bothered.
“Why aren’t you speaking?” You Wenchen waved a hand in front of him.
Yang Yuyang boldly grabbed his hand: “It’s all Si Li’s fault for telling me a ghost story this morning. I’m so scared right now. Will you stay and keep me company?”
You Wenchen was only too happy to oblige, lying down beside him: “Of course. Why didn’t you say so sooner? I’ll go teach Xiao Li a lesson tomorrow.”
He’d reward Si Li with a brand-new car for this.
Yang Yuyang hadn’t expected to keep You Wenchen so easily and instantly felt more confident.
There was a little lamb cushion separating them. Yang Yuyang used to love hugging it to sleep, but now he just found it annoying.
Little Lamb Cushion: So love disappears.
You Wenchen lay on his side, looking at him, thinking he could perhaps start reeling him in.
“Yangyang, the old family house needs some serious repairs, so my parents will be staying here for a few more days. Do you mind?”
Yang Yuyang immediately chimed in: “I don’t mind!”
With his parents staying, he could sleep with You Wenchen every night.
Both of them were hiding their own little schemes, wishing they could strip the other bare right now.
“Are you free tomorrow? Would you be interested in attending a party with me?” You Wenchen invited him.
“Sure! What kind of party? One of those commercial elite gatherings?”
Yang Yuyang had been to one with his mother before. Everyone spent the whole time talking about industry development, and he could only stand there like a vase.
“Something like that. We don’t have to go if you don’t like it.” You Wenchen’s original intention was to introduce him to more friends, mainly to show off his adorable spouse.
“Let’s go! While you’re all chatting, I can take the opportunity to finish all the food.” Even though he didn’t understand the conversations, he could eat.
The dinners provided at those gatherings were expensive, and the guests never ate much.
You Wenchen smiled: “Alright. Eat as much as you like.”
The two of them talked until they fell asleep. The next day, Yang Yuyang woke up early without being called. After exercising with You Wenchen, he went back inside to continue studying his plan to pursue You Wenchen.
This time, he wasn’t studying romance movies but Si Li’s comic, trying to find some useful little tricks from it.
After an hour, he finally distilled some useful knowledge from the largely unapproved content.
It turns out that the ‘bottom’ (shou) acting spoiled and cute can win the affection of their beloved. That doesn’t seem too hard.
Wait, why did he assume he was the ‘bottom’? Couldn’t he be the one on top?
Yang Yuyang compared his build to You Wenchen’s and honestly lay back down.
The bottom it is. That’s just how his life is going to be.
“Silly boy, what are you doing, reading that kind of thing in the living room in broad daylight? Aren’t you ashamed?” Mu Junyu appeared behind Yang Yuyang like a ghost.
Yang Yuyang jumped in fright: “How did you get in?”
“Your auntie knows me and let me in. Wow, I didn’t realize you were this kind of person.”
Yang Yuyang closed the browser page, a little embarrassed: “Shut up! I’m just studying for knowledge.”
“I get it. Who reads this stuff without studying? But if you want to study, you should at least do it in your room.”
Yang Yuyang pinched him: “It’s not what you think! I’m thinking about how to cosplay. Stop talking nonsense. Why are you here?”
Mu Junyu picked up Fanfan and Zhouzhou (the two cats) huddled at his feet, looking worried: “I think Second Brother might have schizophrenia, but I don’t dare tell anyone else in the family, so I had to come to you for advice.”
“Schizophrenia?!” Yang Yuyang shrieked. How could that be? He seemed fine yesterday.
“Yes. Last night, I saw him repeating the same action against the wall. I know artists are supposed to be weird, but this is too strange.”
“What action?”
Mu Junyu demonstrated: kneeling on one knee and then standing up again.
“…Doesn’t that look like a proposal?”
Mu Junyu didn’t know about Mu Xun and Si Li, and still looked worried: “It does, but he doesn’t have a partner, so who would he propose to? What if he’s fantasizing about a lover, like in an anime—loving someone who doesn’t exist? That’s an early sign of mental illness!”
Yang Yuyang rubbed his forehead, trying to figure out how to tell him.
“Is there a possibility that Second Brother met someone special during his studies, but for some special reason hasn’t told us yet?” Yang Yuyang tried to be as subtle as possible.
Mu Junyu slapped his thigh: “Possible! But if he met someone, why wouldn’t he tell us? Could it be that his lover isn’t human?!”
“…” He thought Mu Junyu was more likely to have a mental illness. Why the extreme leap in logic?
“Oh, no, I’m scared. Come with me to a psychiatrist for a consultation.” Mu Junyu didn’t dare tell Si Miu either and could only turn to Yang Yuyang.
Yang Yuyang couldn’t resist his pleading and reluctantly agreed to go to the hospital with him.
Mu Junyu had booked an appointment with the best psychiatrist in the city—one who cost ten thousand yuan for a five-minute consultation.
Knowing the price, Yang Yuyang pulled him toward the exit: “Are you crazy? We’re throwing money away for nothing!”
Mu Junyu refused to leave: “This doctor is extremely good!”
“Don’t be fooled by baseless advertising. Let’s go.”
There were often small hospital ads flying around, but they were all hype.
“This isn’t an ad. Si Miu recommended him.”
“Does Si Miu have a mental illness?!”
“No, Si Miu said You Wenchen was treated here before…” Mu Junyu immediately regretted his words, realizing he had said too much.
Yang Yuyang froze: “You said You Wenchen also saw a doctor here?”
Mu Junyu tried to cover up: “No, I misspoke. It was You Wenchen’s friend who was treated here.”
His acting was too poor; Yang Yuyang saw right through it.
“Did You Wenchen really see a doctor here? What was his problem?”
Mu Junyu didn’t dare speak, afraid of making things worse.
“If you won’t tell me, I’ll ask the doctor myself.”
Mu Junyu grabbed his arm: “No, no, no! It’s useless to ask the doctor. They have to protect their clients’ information; they won’t tell you.”
“Then you tell me, what was his situation?” Yang Yuyang felt panicky. He didn’t discriminate against You Wenchen for having a psychological issue, but he was scared.
Psychological issues could be minor or major. Major ones could easily take a person’s life.
Mu Junyu looked down like a child who had done wrong: “I’m not exactly sure. Si Miu said it was depression, but he’s fine now.”
“How could he have depression? He seems so happy.” Yang Yuyang couldn’t understand. You Wenchen had everything—a happy family and a booming career.
Mu Junyu didn’t know how to explain: “Looking good doesn’t mean you’re truly well inside. They are better at hiding it.”
The people who constantly claim they are depressed and want to give up are usually just pretending. When it comes to the real thing, most people suffer silently and digest it themselves.
“He’s fine now; don’t overthink it.” Mu Junyu was extremely nervous. He was on Yang Yuyang’s side and honestly hadn’t wanted his cousin to be with someone who had psychological issues at first. It wasn’t discrimination; it was concern. But You Wenchen’s later actions moved him. Most people wouldn’t be this good.
Yang Yuyang’s lips were slightly pale. He felt pity and sadness. Even Mu Junyu knew, but he knew nothing.
“The two of you may come in now.” The doctor opened the office door.
Yang Yuyang strode in: “How is You Wenchen doing now? Will there be any future risks?”
The doctor looked at him calmly: “I’m sorry, sir. We can only discuss your own issues.”
Yang Yuyang bit his lower lip: “Then I want to know, can psychological issues be completely cured?”
The doctor said: “There are many types and degrees of psychological issues. Some can recover with medication, and some are beyond help. If your friend is dealing with such troubles, I suggest bringing him in for a specific examination. If it’s inconvenient to discuss this topic with him, I recommend you pay more attention to his daily life. Love is a wonderful thing. It can help a person, and it can also destroy a person.”
By the time they emerged from the office, half an hour had passed.
Mu Junyu was so scared he forgot about Mu Xun’s issue, timidly twisting his fingers the whole way: “I didn’t mean to. Don’t tell You Wenchen.”
Why couldn’t he control his big mouth?
Yang Yuyang’s mood was better than before. According to the doctor, You Wenchen was indeed doing fine now.
“I won’t tell him, and don’t assume Second Brother has a mental illness anymore. Second Brother is doing great; he’s just in love.”
As a fair exchange, he told Mu Junyu the little secret.
Mu Junyu was incredulous: “Really? Why didn’t I know? With whom? Is it a human or an animal?”
“…It’s a human, of course! But I can’t tell you yet. Don’t go asking him, or I’ll tell Si Miu about today and let him deal with you.” Yang Yuyang threatened him.
Mu Junyu was struggling: “Who is it? Can you tell me? Please, please, please.”
“You’ll know when his proposal is successful.”
“But I want to know now! Just tell me, please.” Mu Junyu hadn’t expected Mu Xun to be dating, let alone planning a proposal.
He always thought his Second Brother, with his arrogant and worldly attitude, would die alone.
“I won’t tell you, I won’t tell you. Go home. I need to go home too and prepare. You Wenchen is taking me to a party tonight.”
Yang Yuyang spent a lot of effort shaking off Mu Junyu. When he got home to pick out his suit, he was distracted.
I must be especially, especially good to You Wenchen in the future! I must let him feel the warmth of the world.
“Yangyang, what are you thinking about?”
Yang Yuyang was startled: “You came back so early?”
“Yeah, to help you pick out your suit.” You Wenchen wanted them to wear matching outfits and deliberately returned early.
Yang Yuyang didn’t act overly eager in front of him. The doctor said not to be too aggressive; taking things slowly would be better.
“I don’t have many suits. See if any of these are suitable.” Yang Yuyang rarely attended very formal events. The few suits he owned were bought for college graduation or award ceremonies.
You Wenchen had anticipated this: “I prepared some new ones for you. See if you like them.”
He led Yang Yuyang to the second floor, where dozens of brand-new suits and formalwear were laid out in the walk-in closet.
“So many?” Yang Yuyang gently stroked the fabric. How much did this cost?
“I wasn’t sure what style or color you’d like, so I bought them all.”
He enjoyed spending money on Yang Yuyang; it gave him a sense of satisfaction.
“Is this one for me too?” Yang Yuyang looked at a nearby suit. The pants went up well past his navel.
“That one’s mine.”
You Wenchen had bought a matching set for every suit Yang Yuyang had.
Yang Yuyang didn’t notice his hidden motives and focused on choosing a suit.
“Then this one.” Yang Yuyang chose a white suit.
You Wenchen helped him take it down: “Good. Try it on and see if you like it.”
Yang Yuyang quickly changed and came out with a necktie, seeking help: “I don’t know how to tie a tie.”
You Wenchen couldn’t help but laugh seeing him in the suit.
“What? Doesn’t it look good!” Yang Yuyang quickly rushed to the mirror.
“It looks great. Adorable.”
Suits generally make a person look more mature, but Yang Yuyang’s features were boyish. The suit didn’t make him look mature, only cute.
You Wenchen swapped the necktie for a small black bow tie.
“This makes me feel like I’m going to a youth speech competition.” Flashback to elementary school, his mom would put a bow tie on him every time he had a competition.
You Wenchen adjusted the angle: “Then you’re definitely the champion.”
“Can I really not wear a tie? It looks cooler.”
“You can, but this is cuter.” You Wenchen finished examining him and contentedly put on his own matching suit.
Yang Yuyang felt a sting of jealousy. They were both wearing suits, so why was the difference so huge?
You Wenchen was a dashing young talent. Yang Yuyang looked like he was attending a middle school entrance ceremony.
“Do you think I’d look more mature if I grew a beard?” Yang Yuyang had a bold idea.
You Wenchen burst out laughing: “I think it’s better if you don’t.”
Yang Yuyang was only saying it out loud. His body hair was almost non-existent; he couldn’t grow a beard even if he wanted to.
“Didn’t they say exercise makes you stronger? I’ve been exercising with you for so many days, so why am I still so scrawny?” He looked at himself in the mirror, unable to find any evidence of strength.
You Wenchen walked behind him, his broad body completely enveloping Yang Yuyang.
“I think you’re perfect as you are. You don’t need to be stronger.”
“But I want to be like you! Then I can protect you and let you lean on my broad shoulders.” Yang Yuyang patted his own shoulder.
You Wenchen reached out and caressed his face, his eyes deepening.
He didn’t want to lean on Yang Yuyang’s shoulders; he wanted to do other things.
His undisguised look was too revealing, making Yang Yuyang a little nervous. He had seen many romance animes. Usually, when the male lead gave that look, the next step was a physical display of affection.
Yang Yuyang pursed his lips and tilted his head up slightly, taking the initiative.
The veins on You Wenchen’s hand popped out, and his head slowly lowered.
“Meow, meow, meow!”
Fanfan and Zhouzhou barged in, interrupting the intimate moment.
Yang Yuyang instinctively stepped back. Holy cow, he was so close just now! He was really going to kiss me, wasn’t he?
You Wenchen’s expression wasn’t great either. He was too impulsive! What if he scared him away?
“What’s wrong with you two now?” Yang Yuyang quickly used the cats to change the subject and ease the awkwardness.
“Meow, meow, meow!” He stole my yarn ball.
“Meow, meow, meow!” No, I didn’t! This is mine!
Fanfan and Zhouzhou often fought over small toys. Yang Yuyang picked up one in each hand: “Enough, stop fighting. Daddy will get you new ones. Behave.”
The two kittens settled down, licking their paws and waiting for new toys.
Instead of new toys, they were thrown into a small room and locked inside by Yang Yuyang.
“You ruined your dad’s good time and you still want new toys? You’re spending the night reflecting over the litter box. Write a one-thousand-word self-critique!”
If they hadn’t been interrupted, he and You Wenchen might have been doing that right now.
Fanfan and Zhouzhou: Meow, meow, meow?
“Why did you lock them up?” You Wenchen came out of the closet, acting normally.
“I’m afraid they’ll scratch up things when we’re not home. Besides, the small room has space to play. Let’s go.” Yang Yuyang brushed the cat hair off himself.
You Wenchen took him to the hotel where the gathering was being held. It was a large-scale business meeting today, and Si Miu and Mu Junyu were also there.
Mu Junyu immediately hid when he saw them, afraid of being caught.
“What’s wrong with your cousin?” You Wenchen looked puzzled. Why didn’t he come over to say hello?
Yang Yuyang picked up a small cake: “He probably didn’t see us. It’s fine; we’ll say hi later. This is so delicious; try a bite.”
He fed You Wenchen a piece.
“Newlyweds are so affectionate, always sticking together.” Teasing voices came from nearby.
You Wenchen put his arm around Yang Yuyang’s waist, smiling as he introduced him: “Yangyang, say hello to Brother Hai.”
“Hello, Brother Hai.” Yang Yuyang greeted him obediently.
Wang Dahai looked a bit fierce, like a gangster, but he had a frank and loyal personality. He had helped You Wenchen several times when he was starting his business, and their relationship continued to this day. He was the one organizing this gathering to network with various parties.
“Hello, hello. You didn’t tell me you were bringing someone, leaving me empty-handed. Bring my cousin-in-law—no, my brother-in-law—to my house sometime. Pick anything you want from my antique room.”
“You’re too kind, Brother Hai. You must attend our wedding when we have it.”
“Of course! How can I miss my little brother’s wedding? I’ll lose this gut and be your groomsman.” Wang Dahai patted his round belly.
Yang Yuyang was amused, thinking he looked like a kind-hearted big brother with a fierce exterior from an anime.
Wang Dahai was very supportive of You Wenchen, constantly introducing Yang Yuyang to other big bosses and networking for them.
In the business world, you can manage without money, but you can’t manage without connections.
Yang Yuyang instantly became the focus of the gathering. Some were warm, some were polite, and some were envious.
The connections they couldn’t reach, Yang Yuyang got to know in less than ten minutes. How could they not be jealous?
You Wenchen and Wang Dahai went to discuss recent development plans with other business tycoons. Afraid Yang Yuyang would be bored, he left him there to eat dessert.
Not long after they left, someone came over to speak condescendingly to Yang Yuyang.
“Your mother is Ou Huanhua, isn’t she?”
The person’s tone was unpleasant. Yang Yuyang ignored him and continued to eat dessert.
The person saw that Yang Yuyang looked gentle and young, assuming he wouldn’t dare fight back, and continued: “You look just like your mother, equally capable.”
Yang Yuyang put down his plate: “What do you mean?”
“No meaning at all. Just complimenting you. Your mother managed to grow her business so large, so she must have excellent methods. You are even more resourceful than her, managing to latch onto You Wenchen at such a young age.”
His words were veiled, but his expression clearly showed he meant no compliment.
Yang Yuyang glanced around and smiled: “You seem to know a lot about this. I guess you’ve done a lot of this yourself.”
If Wang Dahai hadn’t shown him so much respect, he would have flipped the table right then and there.
The person became irritated himself: “Are you admitting it?”
“I haven’t said anything. Unlike some people who think the whole world belongs to their profession, like they have an underdeveloped cerebellum.” Yang Yuyang didn’t bother to say more and turned to walk away.
“Do you dare deny it? Using marriage as a gimmick! If you were really married, why haven’t you held a wedding yet?”
He assumed You Wenchen not holding the wedding immediately meant he didn’t take Yang Yuyang seriously. Quite the opposite: You Wenchen took it too seriously, focusing on the details, which is why he hadn’t held the wedding right away.
Yang Yuyang ignored the noise behind him and continued to look for small cakes.
The person still followed him, looking for a fight: “Looks like you didn’t just inherit your mother’s traits, but your father’s as well. What good are sharp words if you’re just a kept man, relying on your wife to support you?”
Yang Yuyang was amused by the insult. Why do these people always think his dad is a kept man? Is it because his dad looks easy to bully?
“Say that again.”
“I said your dad is a kept man.” The person realized he had been tricked the moment he finished speaking and became enraged, his words growing even nastier.
Yang Yuyang picked up a cake plate from the table and smashed it directly onto the person’s face.
“You like being a kept man so much? Is this softer?”
The cake plate shattered on the ground, the crisp sound drawing the attention of those around them.
You Wenchen immediately rushed over to shield Yang Yuyang: “Yangyang, are you hurt?”
“I’m fine.”
Wang Dahai walked over, his face livid. Everyone knew he hated it when people caused trouble at his events. He would explode when he found out.
The person covered in cake still wanted to drag Yang Yuyang down. Since there were no recording devices around, who would know what they had said?
Before he could open his mouth, Wang Dahai kicked him.
“You scumbag! Causing trouble here! If you scared my brother-in-law, can you afford the consequences?”
He considered You Wenchen family. If his spouse was bullied at his event, how could they remain brothers?
The man was kicked flat on his back. Before he could cry out his innocence, Wang Dahai had him thrown out of the private room.
After dealing with the situation, Wang Dahai suppressed his anger and tried to look as pleasant as possible: “Brother-in-law, I apologize for the scare. This is my fault for letting riff-raff in. This drink is my apology to you.”
Yang Yuyang was flattered and politely raised his glass of juice in return: “It’s not your fault. I’m the one who caused trouble for you.”
“No need for formalities among family. Wenchen, why don’t you take my brother-in-law to the lounge to rest and calm down?”
“Okay, I’ll take him to rest first.” You Wenchen wouldn’t feel relieved until he personally checked on him.
Yang Yuyang followed him into the small lounge, lowering his head to admit his mistake: “I’m sorry, I was too impulsive.”
You Wenchen gripped both his shoulders: “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have left you alone there. Are you hurt?”
He should have realized that there would be both good and bad people at this gathering.
“I’m not hurt. Should I buy something to apologize to Brother Hai?” Yang Yuyang knew Wang Dahai was good to him because of You Wenchen and felt guilty.
“No need. Don’t worry.” You Wenchen hugged him tightly. When he saw Yang Yuyang clash with someone just now, his heart nearly jumped out of his chest. He was terrified that if he was a moment too slow, Yang Yuyang would be hurt.
Yang Yuyang buried his head in his chest, feeling the security of his “male mother” (a comforting male figure).
“Yangyang, are you okay?” Mu Junyu also rushed over and knocked on the door. He only went to the restroom, and Yang Yuyang got into a fight with someone?
You Wenchen released Yang Yuyang and opened the door: “He’s fine.”
Mu Junyu sighed in relief, undoing the button on his sleeve and exposing his slender arm: “Where’s the scumbag who bullied you? Call him out for a one-on-one! I’ll show him what fraud is!”
“He’s been thrown out. If you go now, you might catch him.”
“Alright. Watch me get two million from him.” Mu Junyu rushed out aggressively but was stopped by Si Miu.
“Stop messing around. The person is long gone. Be good.”
Si Miu was wrong. The person hadn’t gone far. After being thrown out, he lingered nearby, his mind plotting various sinister revenge plans.
But he didn’t dare act on them because he knew he couldn’t defeat You Wenchen, or even Ou Huanhua.
As he was pacing back and forth, he saw a homeless man being tossed out by security.
“Get lost! You stink! The guests inside are not people you can offend!”
Su Wang still wanted to rush in: “I’m going in to find someone! You Wenchen, I know you’re in there! Get out here!”
He was desperate. His creditor had threatened to kill him if he didn’t get the money tonight. If You Wenchen didn’t give him money now, he would take him down with him.
“Go, go, go! If you don’t leave, we’re calling the police!”
In his despair, Su Wang saw a pair of leather shoes appear in front of him: “I can help you see You Wenchen.”
…
When the banquet ended, Mu Junyu and Yang Yuyang were still complaining that they hadn’t eaten enough. They had filled up on small cakes today, and a dinner without meat was incomplete.
“How about I take you for some barbecue?”
“Yes, please!”
You Wenchen found a good barbecue spot nearby. After saying goodbye to Wang Dahai, he took Yang Yuyang and the others downstairs.
“Ride in my car. We can have someone drive your cars back tomorrow.” You Wenchen saw Yang Yuyang and Mu Junyu chatting happily and didn’t want to separate them.
Si Miu nodded: “Alright. Let’s head to the garage then.”
The elevator went straight to the garage. While the door was opening, Yang Yuyang and Mu Junyu were still playfully shoving each other, fighting over who would step out first.
But when the door opened, a homeless man reeking of body odor was standing outside, holding a sharp, gleaming knife.
Seeing that the people who emerged were indeed You Wenchen and Yang Yuyang, Su Wang lunged, stabbing his knife toward them.
Yang Yuyang froze, unable to react. Just as the blade was about to pierce him, You Wenchen grabbed the sharp part of the knife, preventing it from touching Yang Yuyang.
Mu Junyu reacted, kicking Su Wang in the groin, making him scream in pain and lose the ability to resist.
“Oh my god! He’s bleeding so much! Hurry to the hospital!”
Si Miu handed the car keys to Mu Junyu: “Sweetie, you take Wenchen to the hospital. I’ll stay here for the police.”
He couldn’t let Su Wang remain there to harm anyone else.
“I’ll go get the car then.” Mu Junyu quickly ran to bring the car over.
Yang Yuyang was too terrified to cry, staring fixedly at You Wenchen’s wound, his body trembling unconsciously.
You Wenchen used his other hand to cover Yang Yuyang’s eyes: “It’s okay, it’s okay. Don’t be afraid.”
His comforting only made Yang Yuyang lose control.
“Yangyang, get him in the car first!” Mu Junyu drove the car up.
Yang Yuyang fought back tears, helping him into the car. Luckily, there was a hospital nearby, and they arrived quickly.
When the doctor was about to treat You Wenchen, You Wenchen asked Mu Junyu to take Yang Yuyang out, afraid of startling him.
Mu Junyu hugged Yang Yuyang in the hallway: “It’s over, it’s over. Be good.”
Yang Yuyang sat lifelessly, like an emotionless puppet, waiting for You Wenchen to be bandaged.
“Yangyang, your dad is calling you.” Mu Junyu reminded him.
Yang Yuyang covered his face: “Answer it for me.”
He didn’t dare speak to his parents now, afraid of losing control of his emotions.
“Hello, Uncle.”
Yang Yi’s tone was still playful: “Good boy, where’s Yangyang? I heard he hit someone with a cake at Wang Dahai’s party today. That naughty kid is wasting food.”
“Yangyang is…” Mu Junyu didn’t know if he could say it.
Yang Yuyang shook his head, signaling him not to speak.
“What is it? Did something happen to Yangyang?” Ou Huanhua, who was applying a face mask nearby, immediately snatched Yang Yi’s phone and demanded.
“No, nothing.”
His poor acting skills couldn’t even fool Yang Yuyang, let alone the sharp Ou Huanhua.
“Then where is he? Let him answer the phone.”
“He’s… in the restroom!”
“You’re lying! Where are you right now? I installed a tracking app on Yangyang’s phone. I can find you immediately even if you don’t tell me.”
Mu Junyu could only whisper: “We’re at XX Hospital. There was a small accident, but Yangyang wasn’t hurt…”
Ou Huanhua didn’t hear the last part. She immediately dragged Yang Yi downstairs and drove.
They quickly arrived at the hospital. Ou Huanhua had been in such a hurry she didn’t put on shoes. She was wearing Yang Yi’s slippers, and Yang Yi was running barefoot.
“Yangyang, are you alright? Don’t scare Mom.” Ou Huanhua ran over and hugged Yang Yuyang.
Yang Yuyang buried his head in her shoulder: “I’m fine. Wenchen got hurt trying to save me.”
“How serious is it? What part of him is hurt?”
Mu Junyu comforted them: “He hurt his hand. The doctor is treating him now. Auntie, please calm down.”
Si Miu, who had finished dealing with Su Wang, rushed over and briefly explained the situation. The person who led Su Wang into the garage thought he was safe, but Su Wang, under threat of a death sentence, quickly sold him out.
Ou Huanhua was furious: “He wants my son’s life, does he? I’d like to see whose life is forfeit first!”
“We’ll talk about that later, honey. Comfort Yangyang first.” Yang Yi was worried Yang Yuyang would be traumatized.
Ou Huanhua hugged her son lovingly: “It’s okay. Mom is here.”
Yang Yuyang’s mind was a complex mess. He didn’t know whether to blame himself for being impulsive or Su Wang and his accomplice for being malicious.
The door to the emergency room opened, and the doctor walked out with a look of exasperation: “Alright, you can go in now.”
Yang Yuyang immediately stood up, anxiously blocking the doctor: “How serious is it?”
“No tendons or bones were damaged. It will heal in about a month.”
Mu Junyu couldn’t help but ask: “Then why do you look so… annoyed?”
“While I was treating him, he kept asking me how to nourish his partner’s body. I told him that’s not my area of expertise, and he kept asking! Is having a partner something to boast about?”
You Wenchen had done it on purpose. He heard Ou Huanhua’s voice and deliberately annoyed the doctor so he would come out and complain.
Mu Junyu wanted to laugh but didn’t dare.
“Can we go in now?”
“Yes.”
After getting permission, Yang Yuyang immediately opened the door and rushed into You Wenchen’s arms.
“It’s okay. The doctor said it’s fine.” You Wenchen was calm and collected, as if he wasn’t the one who was injured.
Yang Yuyang choked up: “Why did you protect me? I’m thick-skinned; getting stabbed wouldn’t have been a big deal.”
It would have been better if I were hurt. At least I wouldn’t feel this terrible.
“How could I let you get hurt? Father and Mother-in-law, you’re here too.”
You Wenchen tried to get up to greet them, but Yang Yi stopped him: “No need, no need. Just stay seated.”
“The doctor said I can recover at home, Father and Mother-in-law. There’s no need to worry. It’s getting late, you should go home and rest.”
Yang Yi and Ou Huanhua were too worried to leave. They insisted on following them home, afraid someone else might try to harm You Wenchen on the way.
Yang Yuyang helped You Wenchen back to his room, cautiously holding his injured hand the whole way, not daring to take a deep breath.
You Wenchen said gently: “Don’t worry. It doesn’t hurt now. But I do have a problem. How am I going to shower these next few days?”
Yang Yuyang quickly said: “I’ll help you!”
After saying it, he lowered his head bashfully: “If you mind, then never mind.”
“I don’t mind. Let’s go shower now.”
“Ah?! Now, now?”
