Spoiled Rotten by the CEO After a Contract Marriage - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: The New Boss
Yang Yuxiang truly admired You Wenchen. Not only did he manage to fool his mother, but he also acted deeply affectionate in front of his other relatives, getting everyone to approve of the marriage.
Ou Huanhua might verbally complain about Yang Yuxiang, but she was very serious about his marriage. Even though the groom was the perfect You Wenchen, her demands were not lowered in the slightest.
One moment, she was ‘Sister Hua’, kind and amicable to You Wenchen, and the next, she was stern and severe.
“You can get married, but we have to agree on various eventualities beforehand. For a peaceful divorce, assets are split fifty-fifty. If there’s infidelity after marriage, you leave with nothing. If there’s domestic violence after marriage, I’ll chop off the hand that did the hitting. If you have no objections, I’ll draft a contract. Sign it, get the certificate, and we’ll hold a grand wedding on an auspicious date.”
“Mom, we don’t need this, do we? We truly love each other and won’t divorce,” Yang Yuxiang’s palms were sweating. Theirs was a fake marriage; how could they sign such a contract?
Ou Huanhua pushed him away: “What do you know? If you don’t sign a contract, you’ll be sold out and counting money for the person who did it. These are the requirements for him, and they are the same for you. If you dare to cheat, I’ll chop you up first.”
Yang Yuxiang couldn’t stop her, and he nervously looked at You Wenchen. Wuwu, please don’t walk out on me now. We’ve met all our relatives; if you leave now, I’m finished.
You Wenchen curled his lips, Yàngyáng looks so adorable when he’s pitiful.
“I have no objections, Mother-in-law. If you have any other requests, please list them all. As long as it allows me to be with Yàngyáng, I’ll agree to everything.”
Ou Huanhua wasn’t one to take advantage of others. Apart from demanding that he treat Yang Yuxiang well, she didn’t add any other requirements.
After the contract was signed, Ou Huanhua hired several masters to specially choose an auspicious date. The masters all said today was a good day, suitable for getting the marriage certificate, so You Wenchen and Yang Yuxiang hurriedly went to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
When they emerged with the marriage certificate, Yang Yuxiang’s legs felt like jelly. He was actually married, and to a man he had known for less than three days.
You Wenchen treasured the marriage certificate, looking at him with tender affection: “If you need anything in the future, just tell me. We are now legal partners, and it is my duty to take care of you.”
Yang Yuxiang vaguely acknowledged him. He needed a few days to digest this whole situation.
There wasn’t enough time for a big wedding, so that evening was just a dinner between the two sets of parents.
You Wenchen’s parents were over sixty, but they didn’t look old at all, exuding the elegant demeanor of a scholarly family in their every gesture.
Yang Yuxiang felt quite pressured interacting with such elders. After all, his passions were considered trivial by many adults, and aside from his own parents, other elders usually had a few words of admonishment.
The result was unexpected; You Wenchen’s parents treated him incredibly well, almost like a dream.
The gift they gave him was actually shares in major global animation companies. Limited edition merchandise was produced by these big companies, and from now on, with just a word from him, he’d get first pick of all limited items.
Ou Huanhua was happy inside but still politely declined: “No need, no need. It’s fine for a child to spend money on those frivolous things, but why would you make it so official?”
You Kuanshen said warmly: “It’s a good thing for children to have hobbies. Engaging with these things helps maintain a childlike heart. Yàngyáng, don’t be shy, accept it.”
Yang Yuxiang looked at You Wenchen, and when You Wenchen nodded at him, he accepted.
“Thank you, Uncle. Thank you, Auntie.”
You Kuanshen smiled: “You’ve got your certificate, it’s time to change how you address us.”
Su He gently reminded him: “You haven’t given the gift for the change of address, and you want the child to change it already?”
“Right, right, I’m getting old and forgetful. Here is the gift for the change of address. I hope Yàngyáng likes it.” You Kuanshen handed Yang Yuxiang a small wooden box, “Giving money is too common, so your mother and I bought this calming jade. Wearing it ensures safety and promotes health.”
In addition to the calming jade, You Kuanshen continuously presented several other gifts, aiming for the good omen of ‘long-lasting happiness.’
Yang Yi rubbed his nose. Good heavens, each of these gifts must be worth eight figures. They are truly willing to spend.
Their family wasn’t greedy for these things, but they were happy that their son was being treated with such importance.
After dinner, Yang Yuxiang had to follow You Wenchen back to his home.
Ou Huanhua rarely showed her maternal side: “Even if you are married, this house is still your home. If you are wronged, come back. As long as your mother is here, you won’t be short of a slap—ahem, you won’t be short of a bite to eat.”
“…” No need to intentionally explain, I heard you!
Yang Yi said earnestly: “Don’t worry, for every spanking your mother gives you, your dad will throw in a kick.”
Yang Yuxiang walked away with a look of numbness. What lingering attachment do I even have to this family?
Yang Yi and Ou Huanhua watched his retreating figure, their smiles slowly fading.
After raising their son for so many years, how could they not care about him leaving with someone else? They just didn’t want to shed tears on such a happy day.
Just as Ou Huanhua’s eyes welled up, she heard her husband’s cow-like cry.
“Moo—”
She immediately snapped out of it and punched him: “Go home!”
Yang Yuxiang sat in You Wenchen’s car, stroking the cat to reduce his nervousness.
You Wenchen played soothing music and said gently: “Don’t be nervous. We signed a contract; I won’t infringe upon your personal privacy.”
“I know.”
He was afraid that he might infringe upon You Wenchen’s personal privacy.
After watching the scenery outside the car window for a while, Yang Yuxiang remembered something: “Oh right, I will return the things your parents gave me when I get back.”
They had already given him enough benefits; he didn’t feel right taking these expensive gifts.
“Keep them. If they find out, I’ll be in trouble.”
“But how can I? They are so expensive.”
“Then just consider them to be kept safely with you. When the day comes that we no longer have to pretend, you can return them to me. In the meantime, you have the right to use them without asking me.”
“Thank you.” Yang Yuxiang was delighted. He didn’t care much for the other things, but the animation company shares were quite a temptation.
You Wenchen was also in a good mood seeing him happy.
The car drove into their new home, and Yang Yuxiang was stunned at the doorway. Is this his home?
“Dad and Mom knew you like anime and specifically had workers renovate the house to have an anime aesthetic. However, due to time constraints, some areas are not yet perfect, and workers will come back in the next few days to continue adjustments.”
Yang Yuxiang was overwhelmed: “Your parents are too good to me.”
His own parents wouldn’t even let him decorate their house like this.
“I told you, they really like you. Don’t be constrained; treat it as your own home.”
The You family’s devotion was starting to make Yang Yuxiang feel anxious. What am I going to do when I divorce You Wenchen later?
You Wenchen didn’t want to pressure him and smoothly changed the subject: “The servants here were transferred from the old mansion. I’m afraid they might catch on, so I’ve asked them to go home after nine o’clock. If you need anything after nine, you can look for me.”
“Oh, okay, good.”
“This is your room, which will also be our master bedroom. My room is next door. If my parents don’t visit, I’ll sleep in my room. If they do visit, I’ll share a room with you. I also arranged a separate room for the cats, but they might not be used to a new place and can sleep with you in the master bedroom for now; I don’t mind.”
You Wenchen introduced every room in the house. Most of them were prepared for Yang Yuxiang; he only kept one room and a study for himself.
“You can enter and exit the master bedroom freely. You can only enter the study when I am present.”
Yang Yuxiang nodded: “Yes, absolutely.”
The study must contain a lot of confidential company information, so he certainly wouldn’t go in there recklessly.
“I need to go to the company tomorrow morning; you can do as you please. If you want to go out, you can drive any car in the garage; the keys are all in the basket in the living room. That’s about it. You’ve had a long day; get some rest early.”
“Okay, good night.”
“Good night.”
You Wenchen watched him go back to his room before entering the study himself. The seemingly normal study had a secret door. After opening it, the small room inside was covered with photos of Yang Yuxiang.
He lightly caressed the flower-like smile in the photos and whispered: “Yàngyáng.”
…
Yang Yuxiang thought he would have trouble sleeping but fell asleep as soon as he touched the bed. When he woke up the next morning, You Wenchen had already gone to the company.
The maid greeted him kindly and brought up the prepared breakfast: “Young Master Yang, is there anything you don’t like?”
“No, no, I’m not a picky eater. Thank you all. By the way, just call me Yàngyáng; the maids at my house all call me that.”
“Okay, try this soup and see if you like it.”
Yang Yuxiang took a sip and complimented it graciously: “I like it; it’s especially delicious.”
“Glad you like it. It’s for nourishing the body. Young Master Wenchen must have been quite rough on you last night, right?” The maid’s words were shocking.
“Pfft.” Yang Yuxiang almost choked, explaining with a red face: “We came back too late last night, so we haven’t… ahem, that yet.”
“Ah? But we found several overnight supplies in the trash can in your room.”
“That… we…” What the heck, when did You Wenchen put those in?!
The cooking maid was understanding: “I get it, young people are too shy to talk about it. Continue drinking your soup; I won’t disturb you.”
Yang Yuxiang lowered his head to drink the soup, blushing all the way to his earlobes. You Wenchen was too detail-oriented; he didn’t even forget the trash can.
After eating, he planned to go to the company where he worked, which was the largest two-dimensional live-streaming platform right now. He was the pillar of the company. During his suspension from streaming, his boss was even more anxious than he was, constantly begging him to apologize to his family.
Yang Yuxiang looked for the small basket of car keys You Wenchen mentioned and was dazzled by the keys packed inside.
He had only seen such a display at his cousin’s house.
Yang Yuxiang picked the cheapest car, which was still worth several million. He drove nervously, afraid of scratching it.
He arrived safely downstairs at the company, only to be ridiculed as soon as he walked in.
“Driving such a nice car, are you being kept by someone?”
The relationships among streamers in the company were subtle. After all, the audience traffic was limited, and one going up meant one going down, so they naturally formed a competitive atmosphere. They might act sweet during a stream, but they were vicious in private.
Yang Yuxiang was different; he wasn’t streaming for money and had no interest in getting involved in their affairs. As soon as he heard the snarky comments, he chose to put on his headphones and remain aloof. They could talk all they wanted; he’d win if a single word got through.
The people trying to provoke him were thwarted. They glared at him resentfully, not giving up and following closely behind, looking for another chance to be snarky.
His phone briefly paused while changing songs, and Yang Yuxiang heard them discussing his father, so he quietly pressed the pause button.
“Could this car have been bought by his family?”
“How could that be? Haven’t you seen his dad? Does he look rich? His dad is such a pretty boy, he looks like a gigolo. What success could he have?”
The only time they had seen Yang Yi was when he went camping and incidentally came over to check on his son’s workplace. Because the outdoor environment was rough, he wore an old set of clothes he planned to throw away if they got dirty. The streamers, who judged people by brand names, saw this and assumed his family had no money.
“That makes sense. Seeing how young his dad is, maybe he even goes out to sell himself at night.”
“It’s possible they both sell themselves, father and son. Otherwise, how could he get that car so quickly? He’s been off-stream for so long; maybe he was used up by someone?”
They speculated on the origin of Yang Yuxiang’s car with the utmost malice.
Yang Yuxiang took a deep breath and put his phone in his pocket. He waited for them to exit the elevator first, then delivered a kick to each of them and started slapping their faces with his sneaker.
“I dare you to sell! I dare you to sell!”
The two were seeing stars from the beating. When they finally found a chance to fight back, they were restrained by the late-arriving security guards.
“What are you doing! No fighting!”
“???” Where were you when I was hitting them?
Their manager also rushed over, demanding sternly: “What are you three doing?! Are you trying to get caught by rival companies?”
While streamers don’t need to be as conscious of their image as celebrities, they certainly can’t publicly brawl.
The two who were beaten spat out bl00d and clamored to call the police.
“Shut up! If you call the police, none of you will have it easy. Let the boss handle it first.”
The manager pressured the three of them to see the boss. Yang Yuxiang was nonchalant; he could always find another platform to stream. The other two clutched their wounds, plotting how to speak to get him permanently kicked out of the company.
The surveillance cameras recorded him initiating the fight. If they released the video, even the company couldn’t cover for him.
Reaching the boss’s office, the manager knocked on the door, and an unfamiliar voice came from inside: “Come in.”
Yang Yuxiang’s heart skipped a beat. This voice…
He followed the manager in, and his eyes widened when he saw the person sitting in the boss’s chair. It really was him. Didn’t he go to his own company?
You Wenchen immediately stood up when he saw him: “What happened?”
The manager braced himself: “Mr. You, these are three of the company’s streamers. They got into a verbal dispute in the elevator today, which led to a fight. I originally intended to let the previous boss handle it, but I didn’t expect you to arrive today.”
A new broom sweeps clean. He didn’t know if this new boss would fire all three of them in a fit of anger.
The other two also hadn’t expected a change in boss, but this was a good thing. The previous boss would definitely have favored Yang Yuxiang. This new one, unfamiliar with the situation, probably wouldn’t.
Little did they know, this new boss wasn’t just biased; he was completely gone for him.
“Boss, you can check the surveillance. He was the one who hit us for no reason. We can’t keep people like this in the company.”
“Exactly! Look, I’m bleeding here!”
The two rushed to display their injuries, afraid they hadn’t said enough.
You Wenchen’s gaze remained solely on Yang Yuxiang: “Are you hurt?”
Yang Yuxiang shook his head.
You Wenchen scanned him up and down, making sure not a single hair was missing, before finally looking at the other two.
“What do you want?”
“We want him out of the company!”
