Stealing Moonlight (Lily ABO) - Chapter 23
“Jingjing, why are you back so early? Is something wrong?”
When Ruan Jing found the dorm supervisor to get her keys, the supervisor asked curiously, as it was still nearly a month before summer break ended.
“Most of the chores at home are done, so I just came back. I’ll be troubling you from now on.”
Ruan Jing took the keys, smiling.
“Oh, no trouble at all, what’s there to trouble me about? If you need anything, just tell Auntie, don’t be shy!”
The dorm supervisor was a female Beta, almost 50 years old, a retired teacher rehired for the position. She was quite fond of Ruan Jing.
The students at Huaxi University were considered elite, especially those in the chemical engineering program. Naturally, they were all arrogant and treated her, the dorm supervisor, little better than the wooden sign at the school gate. Someone as thoughtful and polite as Ruan Jing was truly rare.
Ruan Jing’s dorm was in Section C, where she had just moved before the break. Most of the residents there were male Alphas, with the first floor sealed off separately for female Alpha dorms.
Ruan Jing’s dorm was a quad, but only she and Zheng Fangfang lived there. Zheng Fangfang was another female Alpha in the same year, but she was a local and went home every few days, so for all intents and purposes, the dorm was Ruan Jing’s alone.
Ruan Jing didn’t rest for a moment. After putting down her luggage, she started cleaning: sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, and even cleaning the windowpanes twice with newspaper. She also carried her damp bedding to the rooftop to air it out. After all that work, she hadn’t even eaten lunch and was drenched in sweat from exhaustion.
Ruan Jing opened the windows and door to air out the room, then rinsed the mop clean and put it on the balcony to dry. Only then did she pick up her enamel basin, towel, and shampoo and head to the washroom.
Ruan Jing intended to wash her hair first. She had shoulder-length short hair, which she used to cut herself haphazardly with scissors.
“Look at your hair, it looks like a dog gnawed it.”
The day Li Ling’er and Ruan Jing got “engaged,” Li Ling’er had dressed up specially: a cinched red jacket, tight black pants, and two braids that were shiny and smooth, tied with two fist-sized pink silk flowers at the ends.
She had run to Ruan Jing’s house early that morning, first criticizing her hair, then complaining that she was still wearing her usual plain white shirt.
“On such a joyous day, why wear something so plain? Today you absolutely must wear red!”
“Our Jingjing doesn’t like those frivolous colors like red or pink.” Liang Fengying said, looking at Li Ling’er’s red jacket and pink silk flowers on her head, clearly implying something else.
Liang Fengying knew this engagement was just a formality, but she was still seething. This Li Ling’er was a piece of dog dirt, an absolute eyesore standing next to her clean and pure daughter.
“Oh, Mom, you don’t understand. Jingjing has fair skin; red would definitely look good on her.”
When Li Ling’er called her “Mom,” Liang Fengying almost vomited bl00d from anger. But Li Ling’er had already, uninvited, slipped into Ruan Jing’s room.
“Who’s your mom? I couldn’t give birth to such a worthless wretch as you!”
Liang Fengying cursed through gritted teeth, still not appeased. Unfortunately, the village chief Ruan Zhigao and his son arrived to congratulate them, so she had no choice but to force a smile and go out to greet them.
“Why don’t you wear such a pretty dress?”
Ruan Jing entered the room to find Li Ling’er pulling out a cinched red dress from the deepest part of her wardrobe. “Who gave it to you? A sweetheart from college?”
“None of your business.” Ruan Jing stepped forward, wanting to grab it.
“College student, if you don’t tell me, I’ll go ask your mother.”
Li Ling’er shook the red dress at Ruan Jing. Seeing Ruan Jing remain silent, she opened her mouth to shout. Ruan Jing quickly moved to cover her mouth. Li Ling’er, of course, wouldn’t just sit there. The two immediately wrestled, struggling for a long time. In the end, Ruan Jing’s strength was slightly greater, and she managed to pin Li Ling’er on her bed.
“Li Ling’er, don’t forget our engagement is fake.”
Ruan Jing had one knee bent, pressing on Li Ling’er’s thigh, her right hand gripping Li Ling’er’s wrists and pressing them above her head. She was quite exhausted herself, having not expected Li Ling’er to be so strong. “That’s enough. Don’t bother with any more… Ugh!”
The moment Ruan Jing was kissed by Li Ling’er’s sudden lunge, her eyes widened. Li Ling’er enveloped her lips and began to gently suck. Ruan Jing had no idea how to react; her entire body was stiff.
Ruan Jing didn’t even realize when her hand, which had been pressing Li Ling’er down, loosened until Li Ling’er wrapped her arm around Ruan Jing’s neck, her fingers playfully twirling on Ruan Jing’s inhibitor patch.
Li Ling’er, of course, wasn’t wearing an inhibitor patch. At this moment, the scent of vanishing cream filled Ruan Jing’s nose, and she couldn’t help but inhale deeply.
“Heh!” Ruan Jing vaguely heard Li Ling’er’s laugh, which playfully rolled out of her body and, seizing the opportunity, burrowed into Ruan Jing’s heart.
“When kissing, you have to close your eyes and open your mouth. College student, how can you not even know that?”
