Stealing My Ex's White Moonlight - Chapter 13
Inside the nanny van, Lin Wanqing had a clear view of everything.
After Shi Mi got in, Lin Wanqing waited a moment before her patience snapped. Her voice carried a hint of sourness as she asked, “Who was that girl hugging you just now?”
She’s not even prettier than me, she thought, huffing inwardly.
Shi Mi chuckled softly. “Just a fan. She wanted your autograph.”
Lin Wanqing felt a pang of embarrassment but muttered defensively, “You two were standing so close, hugging and laughing. How was I supposed to know?”
“She was curious about your personal life,” Shi Mi replied.
“What?”
“She wanted to know what our relationship is.”
Lin Wanqing feigned nonchalance. “So, what did you tell her?”
“I’m not telling you.”
Lin Wanqing huffed, wrinkling her nose. “Fine, keep your secrets.”
Shi Mi smiled, amused by her little display of pride.
The M Pavilion was a high-end beauty salon under the Lin Group, renowned for its state-of-the-art equipment and exceptionally skilled estheticians. It was a favorite among upper-class socialites and wealthy women.
Manager Xu Yan, having learned of Lin Wanqing’s impending visit, had been waiting by the entrance on the first floor since early morning. Beside her stood a young woman, around eighteen years old.
With her short, blunt bangs, dark, expressive eyes, delicate nose, and thin, cherry-red lips, the girl had an innocent and radiant appearance. She craned her neck, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “Sister Wanqing is here!”
Before Xu Yan could respond, she strode forward on her own.
Xu Yan’s expression darkened. Remembering Lin Wanqing’s special treatment of her, she swallowed her resentment and hurried after her.
Yang Xiaoyan greeted her cheerfully, calling out sweetly, “Sister Wanqing!”
Usually, Lin Wanqing’s cold demeanor would soften considerably upon seeing her. But today, Lin Wanqing seemed like a different person—neither warm nor cold.
Just as Yang Xiaoyan was wondering if Lin Wanqing was in a bad mood, she noticed another woman behind the nanny car.
Tall and slender, with delicate, refined features, the woman looked vaguely familiar.
Xu Yan hurried forward, greeting her respectfully, “Miss Lin.”
Lin Wanqing acknowledged her with a curt “Hmm,” her tone aloof. “Are the arrangements complete?”
“Yes, they’re all set,” Xu Yan replied. She glanced at the woman behind Lin Wanqing. Feng Zhimei had only mentioned that Lin Wanqing would be visiting, without providing any details.
This was the first time Lin Wanqing had brought someone with her, and Xu Yan couldn’t help but feel curious. “Who is this?”
She immediately regretted her question. How could she presume to inquire about such matters? As she scrambled to apologize, Lin Wanqing surprisingly didn’t seem offended.
Lin Wanqing paused, her tone playfully defiant, “I’m not telling you.”
Though she was answering Yang Xiaoyan, her eyes remained fixed on the woman beside her.
Xu Yan subtly scanned the two women. Her ability to read people had propelled her to the position of manager, and she immediately sensed that this woman held a special place in Lin Wanqing’s heart.
Shi Mi chuckled softly, finding this petty jealousy rather endearing.
Yang Xiaoyan, despite her young age, had already spent several years navigating the cutthroat social world. She sensed an unusual tension between the two women. Could Sister Wanqing’s coldness toward her today be because of this woman?
What was their relationship?
The M Pavilion’s first floor housed the lobby, the second floor contained beauty treatment areas, and the entire third floor was Lin Wanqing’s private beauty salon. The salon featured a pointed glass roof, allowing sunlight to flood the space on clear days, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. At night, it offered a perfect view of the stars and moon.
As Yang Xiaoyan tried to follow them to the third floor, Xu Yan’s assistant blocked her path.
Yang Xiaoyan glared at her, her bravado masking her insecurity. “How dare you stop me?”
The assistant felt a pang of unease. In the past, Miss Lin had always allowed Yang Xiaoyan to attend to her personally at the M Pavilion. Why had Sister Xu specifically instructed her to keep Yang Xiaoyan out today?
Knowing Yang Xiaoyan’s petty nature, she would undoubtedly rush to Miss Lin afterward to complain.
Could this be Miss Lin’s doing?
Puzzled, the assistant adopted a businesslike tone. “Sister Xu said you’re not allowed in.”
The third floor was Lin Wanqing’s private area, off-limits to most.
“Sister Wanqing!”
Left with no other option, Yang Xiaoyan craned her neck and called out. But Lin Wanqing continued walking, seemingly oblivious to her presence.
Seeing this, Xu Yan’s assistant breathed a sigh of relief. “Get back to work!”
Yang Xiaoyan glared at her, spitting out a venomous threat. “You’ll regret this.”
Inside the dressing room, Shi Mi leaned back on the sofa, casually flipping through a magazine.
Lin Wanqing watched her through the mirror. With her back to the sunlight, Shi Mi’s face was shrouded in shadow. The gentle breeze from the turning pages softly stirred her hair. Perhaps uncomfortable, she raised a hand to tuck her hair behind her ear, allowing a sliver of light to illuminate her profile.
A radiant, indescribable charm.
Stop staring, the makeup artist sighed inwardly. I don’t understand what’s so fascinating. She gently urged again, “Miss Lin, close your eyes and tilt your head just a little…”
Lin Wanqing reluctantly tore her gaze away. “Oh.”
Shi Mi watched for a while, then got up to go to the restroom. After washing her hands, she bumped into Yang Xiaoyan at the door.
In the past, whenever Sister Wanqing came to the M Pavilion, she would always call Yang Xiaoyan over to assist her. But today, because of this woman, Sister Wanqing hadn’t even glanced at her.
The others at the M Pavilion were laughing at her, saying she had fallen out of favor before even climbing into Lin Wanqing’s bed.
Thinking of this, Yang Xiaoyan deliberately bumped into Shi Mi’s shoulder. Despite her young age, she spoke crudely, “Your bedroom skills must be amazing, huh? Otherwise, how could you, with your plain looks, have managed to latch onto Sister Wanqing’s coattails?”
Shi Mi smiled. “Mm, my bedroom skills are indeed excellent. She adores them. A naive little sister like you should listen to your elder sister and practice with a few more partners.”
Yang Xiaoyan’s chest heaved with anger. “So that’s how you honed your technique! A thousand-man ride!”
“Darling, my technique is innate—you can’t learn it. But I suggest you try the thousand-man ride method. It might work for you.”
Shi Mi reached out to straighten Yang Xiaoyan’s collar. “As a human being, you should be kind. Don’t make your elder sister angry, okay?”
With that, Shi Mi walked away.
Yang Xiaoyan touched her neck, suddenly feeling as if Shi Mi had nearly strangled her.
After the two left, a girl in an M Pavilion uniform emerged from a restroom stall. Steeling her resolve, she decided to report the incident to Xu Yan.
Xu Yan scolded her, telling her to focus on her work and stop getting involved in such nonsense.
Yet inwardly, Xu Yan couldn’t help but notice that while Lin Wanqing always had Yang Xiaoyan attend to her at the M Pavilion, she never took Yang Xiaoyan out for the night.
Once, when Yang Xiaoyan explicitly hinted at wanting to spend the night with her, Lin Wanqing’s expression immediately turned cold.
Combining this with Lin Wanqing’s attitude today, Xu Yan made up her mind. She walked into the dressing room. “Miss Lin, I have something to report to you.”
“Speak.”
Xu Yan glanced at the makeup artist, hesitating. Lin Wanqing waved her hand, and the makeup artist discreetly left, closing the door behind her.
Now alone in the dressing room, Xu Yan embellished her account, adding fuel to the fire. Lin Wanqing’s face visibly darkened.
I bet I’m right, Xu Yan thought triumphantly. Ever since Yang Xiaoyan latched onto Lin Wanqing, she’s been shitting all over me every day. I’ve endured it for too long. Finally, I can vent my anger.
“Go fetch Yang Xiaoyan.”
Xu Yan took a few steps, then doubled back, repeating Shi Mi’s exact words verbatim: “Mm, my bedroom skills are just that good. She really loves it.”
By the time she finished, Lin Wanqing’s face was flushed crimson, as if it could bleed.
What vulgar nonsense!
