Stealing My Ex's White Moonlight - Chapter 15
Feng Zhimei had arranged for Shi Mi to wear a white off-the-shoulder evening gown with a ruffled neckline. The dress accentuated her graceful, flowing shoulder and neck lines, making her slender, swan-like neck appear even more elegant. The skirt was slightly short, ending just above the knee and revealing her shapely, toned calves.
Her features were delicate and lively. Having shed her previous timidity and self-doubt, she radiated a newfound confidence, exuding a natural, serene composure like still water—calm and self-possessed.
A cool, aloof air lingered between her brows and eyes, daring anyone to disrespect her.
When Shi Mi emerged in the evening gown, Lin Wanqing had already finished her hairstyle. Her lustrous hair was neatly styled into a voluminous bun, adorned with two strands of pearl chains. The pearls, with their smooth, weighty texture, shimmered with iridescent fire in the sunlight.
Seeing Shi Mi, Lin Wanqing’s lingering embarrassment from their earlier teasing made her want to turn away and ignore her. Yet her gaze remained involuntarily fixed on Shi Mi, her eyes lighting up with undeniable admiration.
“Does it look good?” Shi Mi asked.
Forgetting her earlier annoyance, Lin Wanqing smiled, her eyes sparkling. “It’s beautiful.”
Shi Mi leaned back in her chair, tilting her head to look at her with a teasing smile. “You look beautiful too.”
The casual, yet suggestive tone—Black lace, would you wear it for me?—these words echoed in Lin Wanqing’s mind, overwhelming her senses and staining her ears with a blush.
To conceal her flustered thoughts, she retorted stiffly, “Of course I look good.”
Shi Mi chuckled softly, “Mmm,” before closing her eyes to let the makeup artist apply her makeup.
Once their makeup and hairstyles were complete, a dozen M Pavilion staff members, each carrying a black box, entered the room in a synchronized leap. They lined up in a row, revealing pairs of exquisitely crafted high heels within the boxes.
Xu Yan selected a pair of heels and knelt to help Lin Wanqing try them on. Lin Wanqing’s delicate foot recoiled slightly, clearly reluctant to be touched.
Xu Yan’s hand froze mid-air as she frantically racked her brain, trying to recall what she had done to displease the Eldest Miss Chen of the Chen Family.
Then, Lin Wanqing glanced at Shi Mi.
Xu Yan immediately understood, straightened up, and stepped aside.
Shi Mi chuckled softly, her gaze gliding over the rows of heels before settling on one pair. She extended a slender finger and pointed. “Wear these.”
With that, Xu Yan placed the shoebox at Lin Wanqing’s feet. Inside was a pair of black high-heeled sandals with delicate 8-centimeter heels, featuring a minimalist suede strap and a luminous pearl at the buckle.
The carpeted floor felt neither cold nor uncomfortable as Shi Mi knelt on one knee. She gently lifted Lin Wanqing’s jade-like foot—snow-white and delicate, with toes resembling tender lotus shoots. The nails were painted a bold, vibrant red, adorned with tiny, sparkling diamonds.
Shi Mi’s warm fingers felt exquisitely comfortable against Lin Wanqing’s skin, causing her lips to curve into a faint smile.
Standing nearby, Feng Zhimei watched the dazzling scene unfold, her arms crossed. The stark contrast between black and white created a striking visual harmony, each color enhancing the other, radiating a powerful yet serene allure.
Lin Wanqing wore a black dress paired with black velvet gloves, a pearl necklace around her neck, and pearl earrings that swayed gently, illuminating her face with a radiant glow. She looked every bit the noble and pampered princess.
Leaning back in her chair, she extended her long, pale leg, regal and condescending, bestowing her favor upon Jiang You.
Jiang You knelt on one knee, cradling Lin Wanqing’s jade-like foot like a white knight receiving a divine blessing.
Beautiful.
Truly beautiful.
Being rich is so wonderful.
She wished she could find a wealthy woman to cling to as well.
The nanny car came to a smooth stop at the entrance of the cocktail party. A doorman rushed forward to open the door. Lin Wanqing, draped in a creamy white coat, pressed a hand to her chest as she bent down to exit the vehicle, triggering a frenzy of camera flashes.
Instead of stepping onto the red carpet, she paused at the car door and extended her hand with impeccable gentlemanly grace.
Hmm? Why hasn’t Lin Wanqing moved yet? Is there someone else in the car? Reporters craned their necks, their camera flashes intensifying.
Shi Mi’s fingers brushed against Lin Wanqing’s palm. Her silver-white heels, studded with delicate diamonds, touched the ground. A platinum necklace adorned her neck, its emerald pendant adding a touch of regal elegance.
The reporters gasped, their flashes firing rapidly.
Cameras swiveled to focus on Shi Mi. Who is this? they wondered.
After years in the industry, this was the first time Lin Wanqing had brought a female companion to an event—and one who was completely unknown. This news would be explosive.
Unfortunately… any scandalous information about Lin Wanqing would immediately be suppressed by the Lin Group.
Shi Mi took Lin Wanqing’s arm, and they entered the party together.
Throughout the evening, a faint smile lingered on Lin Wanqing’s lips.
Tonight’s gala was a gathering of investors, industry luminaries, Best Actress and Best Actor winners, and titans of the entertainment world.
When they saw Lin Wanqing arrive with a female companion, their faces registered surprise. After years of the Lin Family heiress remaining single, had she finally decided to “break her fast”?
And who was this woman beside her?
Their gazes lingered on Shi Mi, sizing her up boldly. They instructed their assistants to investigate Lin Wanqing’s preferences, eager to package her ideal type and deliver it straight to her bed!
“Miss Wanqing, it’s been a while. How is your father’s health?”
“My dear niece Wanqing…”
Most of these were investors. Although Lin Wanqing wasn’t involved in business, she was the apple of the Lin Family patriarch’s eye, so everyone flocked to her, eager to curry favor.
Lin Wanqing responded with a cool indifference.
The crowd retreated, crestfallen.
A waiter approached with a tray of drinks. Lin Wanqing selected a glass of grape juice for Shi Mi.
Shi Mi took a sip and glanced through the glass, spotting Cheng Yun’s dark, brooding face.
Oh.
A familiar face.
Shi Mi stared at him for a few seconds before shifting her gaze away.
Lin Wanqing turned down a group of investors with ulterior motives and brought Shi Mi to meet Xu Mingfang, a titan of the entertainment industry.
Old Master Xu, at the venerable age of 75, sat upright on a lavish European-style sofa, his snow-white hair framing a face still full of vigor. The sofa was flanked by two single armchairs occupied by younger industry figures eager to curry favor.
Seeing Lin Wanqing, he greeted her before she could speak, “Wanqing, young lady.”
Lin Wanqing responded politely, “Senior Xu.”
Old Master Xu patted the empty space beside him. “I didn’t expect you to come today. Sit down and keep this old man company for a while.”
The two juniors in the armchairs exchanged glances. Lin Wanqing was renowned for her aloofness in the industry—why had she brought a female companion today?
As if noticing Shi Mi for the first time, Old Master Xu turned his gaze to her and asked, “And who is this?”
Lin Wanqing’s rare tenderness softened her voice. “I was just about to introduce her. This is Jiang You. You can call her Xiao You.”
Shi Mi greeted him with perfect etiquette: “Senior Xu, it’s an honor to meet you.”
Everyone in the industry wanted to curry favor with Miss Lin of the Lin Clan, but Lin Wanqing’s aloofness and pride deterred them from resorting to underhanded tactics.
Now that Lin Wanqing had brought a female companion to the banquet, their ambitions were likely stirring once more.
A glint flashed in Old Master Xu’s eyes as he slapped his thigh and roared with laughter. “Little Yo, why call me ‘Senior Xu’? Just like Wanqing, call me Old Master Xu!”
“Old Master Xu.”
“That’s more like it!”
Lin Wanqing had only brought Shi Mi to introduce her face; she had no intention of lingering. As she turned to leave, a commotion erupted nearby. She glanced toward the source of the noise and caught sight of a dazzling aquamarine gown.
She faintly heard the words “Eldest Miss Chen of the Chen Family.”
Her steps faltered, and she turned and walked away.
