Stealing My Ex's White Moonlight - Chapter 3
Lin Wanqing, a Best Actress who had been famous for years, possessed exceptional acting skills and a strikingly distinctive, cold, and elegant appearance.
Rumor had it within the industry that she was the youngest daughter of the business tycoon Lin Family.
Shi Mi remembered several instances when Song Wei had bullied her, and Lin Wanqing had always intervened to help.
However, back then, controlled by the plot, Shi Mi had been an ungrateful wretch. Not only did she fail to appreciate Lin Wanqing’s assistance, but she even resented her for meddling in her affairs.
The System wondered, “In the original plot, Lin Wanqing never intervened when Song Wei bullied the Original Host. Could it be that since you were reborn, Lin Wanqing’s storyline has subtly changed?”
Shi Mi suspected that might be the case.
During the decade when she was controlled by the plot and psychologically manipulated by Cheng Yun, her entire world had revolved around him, isolating her like a solitary island from all warmth and connection.
By her reckoning, this was their ‘first’ proper encounter since graduating high school.
She gazed at Lin Wanqing through the mirror.
Lin Wanqing exuded an aura of cool detachment. Her slightly wavy long hair cascaded down her shoulders as she stood with her arms crossed, clad in white high heels.
A navy-blue blouse embroidered with a white crane and auspicious clouds—the stitches meticulous and lifelike—paired with casual-style dress pants. Her skin appeared snow-white under the light, radiating a commanding, mature elegance.
Shi Mi scrutinized Lin Wanqing intently, but Lin Wanqing suddenly averted her gaze and cleared her throat.
Shi Mi noticed the subtle movement of Lin Wanqing’s throat, where a small, alluring black mole rested on her snow-white neck.
Lin Wanqing parted her crimson lips slightly. “A truly captivating scene,” she said, her voice crisp and melodious, with a lingering warmth in its tone, like a feather gently tickling the heart.
Forcing herself to meet Jiang You’s gaze, Lin Wanqing maintained a composed expression, though her mind raced with confusion.
In the past, when Song Wei bullied Youyou, Lin Wanqing’s attempts to help were always met with Youyou’s resentment for interfering.
Now that Youyou was actively fighting back, could the breakup have shocked her into clarity?
Lin Wanqing couldn’t think of any other explanation.
At that moment, Shi Mi finally shifted her gaze, offering a casual self-assessment: “Hmm, not bad.”
If she were still playing the villain, she could have done even better. She suddenly missed her villainous days.
Expecting Lin Wanqing to leave after this exchange, Shi Mi was surprised when the cool, aloof woman took two steps forward and asked calmly, “Do you need any help?”
Lin Wanqing’s face remained serene, her voice steady, but her fingers twitched slightly, her heart racing with nervous anticipation for Shi Mi’s reply.
Shi Mi looked at her again, feeling increasingly puzzled. Help?
Teach Song Wei a lesson? Shi Mi had no doubt that with Lin Wanqing’s influence, a simple nod from her would make Song Wei tomorrow’s top entertainment news headline.
However, Song Wei was just a minor figure. Shi Mi could handle her herself without needing Lin Wanqing’s help.
So she replied, “We’ll see.”
She still doesn’t want my help? Doesn’t want to get too involved with me?
A fleeting hint of disappointment and sadness flickered in Lin Wanqing’s eyes. She pressed her lips together and said, “Let me know if you need anything.”
“Okay,” Shi Mi replied, thinking Lin Wanqing might need to use the restroom. She quickly turned to leave, brushing past her.
But as Shi Mi turned, Lin Wanqing noticed the five finger marks on her face. She suddenly grabbed Shi Mi’s wrist, frowning. “What happened to your face?”
Shi Mi looked up at her, paused, and stopped walking, as if something had occurred to her.
At that moment, Lin Wanqing stepped closer, her fingers gently pinching Shi Mi’s chin and tilting her face slightly to get a better look.
The porcelain-white cheek bore five distinct finger marks, half of Shi Mi’s face swollen. One could only imagine the pain she must have endured.
Lin Wanqing’s expression instantly darkened. “Song Wei did this?”
“Yes, it was her,” Shi Mi readily admitted.
Standing so close, Shi Mi caught the scent of Lin Wanqing’s perfume—an aquatic fragrance, refined and elegant, its shimmering notes reflecting a starlit sky like ripples on a lake, where a water lily floated serenely.
Shi Mi’s gaze involuntarily shifted, settling on Lin Wanqing’s face, now just inches away.
There was no denying Lin Wanqing’s striking beauty. Her bone structure was perfectly balanced, her eyebrows and the corners of her eyes sharp and defined. Her phoenix eyes held a cold, distant light like stars, while her nose was high and straight, and her lips, thin with a pronounced Cupid’s bow, seemed equally suited for a smile or a frown.
In contrast, the Original Host’s features were more delicate and demure, with dimples that appeared when she smiled, giving her a somewhat provincial air.
Their gazes locked, so close that their heated breaths seemed to intertwine.
Time seemed to stand still.
As Shi Mi continued to stare, she noticed the tips of Lin Wanqing’s ears had turned red.
