Stealing My Ex's White Moonlight - Chapter 8
Lin Wanqing stood frozen, her earlobes, like translucent peach-jelly made on a summer day, tinged with a delicate pink.
I wonder what they taste like, Shi Mi thought, admitting to herself that she harbored mischievous intentions.
Under the moonlight, their hair intertwined like tangled vines. The roses in the flowerbed exuded a rich, intoxicating fragrance. Lin Wanqing swallowed nervously, her hand tightening around Shi Mi’s waist.
Tilting her head slightly, Lin Wanqing’s view was partially obstructed, revealing only Shi Mi’s tipsy, flushed face. Her curled lashes cast faint gray shadows across her cheeks, and a tiny drop of rose-red wine clung to her dewy chin, making her look irresistibly alluring.
Just one secret kiss… would that be okay?
The thought flashed through Lin Wanqing’s mind, and her heart began to pound wildly.
Really, just one…
Outside the Wild Rose Restaurant, Uncle Liu had been waiting early. He spotted Lin Wanqing supporting a woman as they emerged. Is this the important guest the young lady treated so specially tonight?
Why have they stopped after only a few steps? Is she too heavy for the young lady to support?
Thinking this, Uncle Liu quickened his pace. As he drew closer, he realized something was amiss.
Why are the young lady and this woman standing so close? And… does the young lady seem to be… kissing her?
Uncle Liu was utterly bewildered, then suddenly realized he might have ruined Miss Lin’s moment. He tried to sneak away, but a dry twig snapped under his foot.
The faint sound startled Lin Wanqing awake. Feeling awkward, she cleared her throat and said, “Uncle Liu.”
Uncle Liu, who had weathered countless storms in his long life, now stood flustered like a child. “Miss,” he stammered.
Desperate to salvage the situation, he offered, “Shall I help her?”
He moved to step forward, but Lin Wanqing stopped him sharply. “No need!”
Realizing her outburst, she softened her tone. “I mean, she’s a bit heavy. I wouldn’t want to trouble you, um…”
What a clumsy excuse… Shi Mi’s head, resting on Lin Wanqing’s arm, shifted slightly. The corner of her lips curved upward, and her chest rose and fell as if she were suppressing laughter.
The privacy partition in the back of the business car rose, sealing off the front seats and creating a relatively secluded space.
Lin Wanqing helped Shi Mi into the back seat and reached for the seatbelt, leaning close. She caught a whiff of Shi Mi’s intoxicating wine-tinged scent, and suddenly felt a cool touch on her cheek.
Shi Mi, who had apparently sobered up, gently tucked a strand of Lin Wanqing’s hair behind her ear, revealing her porcelain-pale face.
Their eyes locked.
A cool evening breeze drifted in through the car window. Lin Wanqing’s eyes sparkled, her red lips like delicate flowers glistening with morning dew. Her fingers gripped the seatbelt, but she forgot to pull it down.
She gazed at Shi Mi, a subtle anticipation flickering in her eyes. Her lashes fluttered rapidly as she unconsciously bit her lip.
Shi Mi tucked a strand of Wanqing’s hair behind her ear, her fingers lingering at the nape of her neck. Her wine-darkened eyes seemed particularly deep and intense.
She murmured a single word: “Itchy.”
Itchy? Where? Does she want me to scratch it? Lin Wanqing’s lashes fluttered, her eyes filled with confusion.
“Where does it itch?”
Shi Mi’s fingertip landed on the pearl strap of Wanqing’s shoulder, gently hooking it.
Wanqing was wearing a low-cut slip dress. Leaning forward, the pearl strap had slipped slightly, revealing the faint outline of the flower-shaped n1pple covers beneath.
Oh, she’s not wearing a bra…
The thought flashed through Shi Mi’s mind. With a flick of her finger, she adjusted the pearl strap for Wanqing. “Your hair was tickling the tip of my nose.”
“Ah, oh, okay.”
Lin Wanqing flushed with embarrassment. Forgetting about the seatbelt, she hastily gathered her hair. Only after fixing it did her mind catch up: She just adjusted my dress… Did I just flash her?!
Aaaah! I’m not wearing a bra today, just n1pple covers…
Youyou must have seen everything! Waaah! I want to crawl into a hole and hide!
As this thought surfaced, Lin Wanqing’s shame gradually intensified, her face burning hot.
She tried to maintain a calm and composed demeanor, but the more she thought about it, the more mortified she felt. Unable to face Shi Mi, she surreptitiously turned her head, pretending to admire the scenery outside the window.
This feeling is… wonderful.
Her reaction was too obvious for Shi Mi to ignore. It reminded her of their high school days when she used to tease Lin Wanqing in a similar way.
Back then, their youth was naive, their emotions clumsy, and their blushing faces still carried a youthful innocence.
Now, things were different. Lin Wanqing exuded a mature allure, her charm deepened by experience.
A faint smile curved Shi Mi’s lips.
In the dim light, her genuine, heartfelt smile melted like fresh snow.
Lin Wanqing stared, mesmerized by the sight.
Since getting together with Cheng Yun, Youyou had rarely smiled. She had withdrawn into herself, becoming self-conscious, introverted, and lifeless, even resisting any attempts at closeness.
Lin Wanqing couldn’t help but ask, “What are you thinking about? You look so happy.”
Shi Mi’s smile lingered. “Someone.”
A wave of jealousy churned within Lin Wanqing. She pouted, her voice tinged with sourness. “Who?”
Shi Mi remained silent.
Lin Wanqing’s jealousy intensified. She shifted in her seat and turned her head away, clearly displeased.
Shi Mi’s smile deepened.
The System materialized: “Host, you’re pretending to be drunk to get closer to Lin Wanqing.”
Shi Mi feigned innocence: “She ordered the red wine.”
System: ……
