- Chapter 14 - Feels Like Your Type
After unpacking his things and putting them away, Wang Bu Po noticed that Fu Jing was about to head out. He quickly turned around and followed with a grin.
“Heading out for some shopping? What a coincidence, I need to grab some stuff too. Let’s go together.”
Fu Jing glanced at him coolly. The jacket Wang had “borrowed” last time was now hanging around his neck, and judging from the look of it, he didn’t seem to have any intention of returning it.
The Happy Apartments complex had beautiful landscaping. Being away from the bustling city center, the place felt calm and peaceful.
Across just one street, though, the atmosphere changed completely as a tall, grand black stone archway began the wealthy district, with rows of elegant villas hidden among lush trees.
There wasn’t much nearby besides a few convenience stores, so they took the subway to the city center to shop at a mall.
It was the National Day holiday, so despite many people traveling out of town, the mall was still packed. Fu Jing pushed a shopping cart ahead while Wang Bu Po trailed behind.
Truth be told, it had been ages since Wang last set foot in a supermarket. The last time had been with his mother, Chen Lifang.
He’d never really liked grocery shopping, it was tedious and time-consuming. At home, the housekeeper usually handled all the daily necessities, and anything personal he needed could be ordered online in a few taps.
Judging by Fu Jing’s demeanor, he wasn’t the type to enjoy shopping either. He walked briskly, long legs striding like the wind, looking as though he just wanted to grab what he needed and get it over with.
To make things easier, Wang Bu Po simply bought whatever Fu Jing bought.
Suddenly, a sweet, clear female voice called from behind them.
“Senior Fu Jing?”
Feng Qingqing hadn’t expected to run into him here. Fu Jing, a year ahead of her, had worked with her on a finance competition last month where they’d won first prize, and they were currently partnering again in a startup contest.
On A University’s student forum, he had once been voted both the “Most Handsome Male” and “Most Beautiful Alpha” in the school’s history.
Although he didn’t appear wealthy, he was exceptional his quiet confidence and natural aura of authority made him wildly popular online. He himself, however, had no idea.
Beside Feng Qingqing stood Shi Yi, who didn’t attend the same school but had heard about Fu Jing from her friend more than once. Today, she was tagging along as Qingqing stocked up for a camping trip with friends.
Hearing the voice behind them, both men paused; Wang Bu Po was the first to turn around.
“It really is you!” Feng Qingqing exclaimed joyfully. She took a few quick steps forward, her tone bright and sweet. “What a coincidence, Senior, you’re shopping too?”
Wang Bu Po looked at the pretty girl in front of them, her pale skin glowing under the mall lights, then glanced teasingly at Fu Jing as if to say, You sure are lucky with the ladies.
Fu Jing merely replied with a calm “Mm.” He didn’t have a deep impression of her, but remembered they had worked together before, surname Feng, a freshman.
“Hi there, I’m Wang Bu Po,” Wang said confidently, raising his brows and flashing what he thought was his most charming smile.
“Uh, and you are…?”
Feng Qingqing blinked, only now noticing the man beside Fu Jing. He was half a head shorter, handsome, tall, but though she couldn’t catch his pheromone scent, something told her…
He wasn’t an Alpha.
Her intuition was rarely wrong.
Why would the famously solitary Senior Fu Jing be close enough with someone to go shopping together?
Then her gaze dropped to their cart two identical bedding sets, matching toothbrushes and mugs, towels in coordinating colors… everything in pairs, like a couple’s items.
“I’m his brother,” Wang announced smoothly, slinging an arm over Fu Jing’s shoulder in mock camaraderie.
Fu Jing glanced at the offending hand on his shoulder with a look of pure disdain. He didn’t bother correcting him, but he didn’t agree either.
“Oh? But you don’t look alike…” Feng Qingqing murmured, more to herself than anyone else.
Wang caught it anyway. He ran a hand through his bangs and arched a brow toward Fu Jing. “True, I’m a little better looking.”
The corners of Feng Qingqing’s smile stiffened. She shot Fu Jing a doubtful look, then asked, “Then why don’t you have the same surname?”
“Ah—because I’m his older cousin. Right, little cousin?” Wang Bu Po laughed, clearly delighted to boost his own rank in the family hierarchy. His signature tiger-toothed grin was full of mischief.
Fu Jing’s face darkened.
“Pfft—” Shi Yi couldn’t hold back a laugh.
“What’s so funny?” Feng Qingqing frowned, not getting it.
“Nothing, nothing,” Shi Yi waved it off, still chuckling. She just found the whole exchange amusing. As they walked on, she secretly texted her brother.
Yitai Wanqian: Bro, I just met someone interesting. I think he’s your type.
A few minutes later came the reply:
Shi Shen Bu Shou Li:?
Yitai Wanqian: Want me to ask for his contact info?
This time, the response was instant:
Shi Shen Bu Shou Li: No need.
Shi Yi pocketed her phone and smiled. “Are you guys going camping with us tomorrow?” she asked casually.
“No,” Fu Jing replied flatly.
“Yeah, no, we still have”
“Let’s go.”
Wang Bu Po hadn’t even finished before Fu Jing cut him off, already turning away.
“Why are you in such a hurry?” Wang complained as he caught up. “I was just trying to make conversation.”
“You can keep chatting if you want. I’m not stopping you.”
“Come on, man, that’s not how you treat a pretty girl! She knows you!”
Behind them, Feng Qingqing watched the two bicker as they walked off.
“They seem really close,” she said softly. “I didn’t think Senior Fu Jing had that kind of side to him.”
“Do you like him?” Shi Yi asked bluntly.
Feng Qingqing blushed and quickly looked away, flustered. “What are you talking about? I just… admire him, that’s all.”
Shi Yi gave a teasing tsk tsk tsk, clearly unconvinced. Admiration, huh? With that lovestruck expression, no one would buy it.
Liking someone wasn’t a crime, though. Still, remembering how cold and distant that Alpha had been, Shi Yi couldn’t help but pout.
He wasn’t half as easy to talk to as the cheerful one beside him.
Feng Qingqing took the shopping cart from her, eager to change the subject. Anyway, we still haven’t finished buying our camping supplies. Let’s go.
