- Chapter 7 - You’ll Always Be My Best Brother
Wang Bupo waited for the game to load while casually scrolling through some posts about it.

[1L]: Ahhhh, so handsome! I’m going crazy lick, lick, lick… [drooling]
[2L]: How can someone be this perfect? Amazing at the game and gorgeous too… literally my dream guy!
[10L]: Ten years have passed, and Shi Shen’s legend continues.
[11L]: I’m new here what exactly is this Shi Shen legend? [confused]
[12L]: No way… there are still people who don’t know Shi Shen? [shocked]
[13L]: I’ve never played games before, nor been in the gaming community. [awkward]
[14L]: It’s normal. Every year, there’s always a wave of newbies who end up completely obsessed with Shi Shen.
[15L]: Shi Li, twenty-six years old, rose to fame at sixteen with a 98K, founded the GK Club at twenty, and started the National Competition, held every three years. His team reached the top three in the “God of Guns World Cup Finals.”
Shi Shen has held the #1 global ranking in FPS esports for five consecutive years. His National Competition aims to discover talented gamers and let passionate, skilled players shine.
His sniper rifle rarely misses; one shot for a level-2 helmet, two for a level-3. He’s earned the nickname “Shi Shen.” (Copied from the post no thanks needed.)
[16L]: The person above is a good one.
[17L]: Just clicked in and got flexed on. (Not the same kind of flex) [dog head emoji]
…
[100L]: Even if Shi Shen headshots me ten thousand times, I’d still be moved by him!
[111L]: Sister, you’re ruthless! (Me too) [screaming]
[101L]: [lights explode][lights explode][lights explode]
Scrolling through, aside from ads and promos, almost every post praised this man, Shi Li. Wang Bupo twitched his mouth but got a rough idea: this glorified, legendary man was the founder and planner behind the National Competition.
To him, though, Shi Li was just a kind and generous “spendthrift angel.”
Stepping out of the internet café, Wang Bupo looked at the remaining 400 yuan in his phone and groaned. Practice at the café cost money, and meals cost money too.
He wasn’t sure if he’d get a share of the preliminary competition prize, but he wanted to prepare properly first. His money wouldn’t last through the first week of preliminaries.
He scrolled his phone anxiously, staring at the only contact saved, and let out a long sigh seemed like there was no other way.
By ten at night, Wang Bupo returned to the rented apartment. Fu Jing had just finished showering and stepped out.
“You’re done showering?” Wang Bupoid asked immediately.
Fu Jing, not understanding why he asked such an obvious question, simply replied with a flat, “Mm.”
“Tired? Need me to help with your laundry?” Wang Bupoid stepped closer, grinning.
Fu Jing gave him a puzzled glance, voice turning cold:
“No need.”
“Then let me rub your shoulders.” Wang Bupo reached for his shoulders.
Fu Jing dodged, turning to face him. Being taller by half a head, he looked down with long lashes casting shadows over his cold, beautiful face, eyes narrowed at this overly familiar man acting all friendly for no reason.
Wang Bupo scratched his nose, feeling a little guilty.
“What exactly do you want?” Fu Jing asked.
“Well… I just wanted to… improve our relationship.” Wang Bupoid twisted his words, smiling and baring a sharp little canine tooth.
“Don’t test my patience.”
“No, it’s just… uh… how do I say it…” Wang Bupo scratched his head, growing awkward and quiet.
“I want to borrow some money…”
“What?” Fu Jing hadn’t heard the last part clearly.
“I want to borrow some money!” Wang Bupo gritted his teeth and shouted.
“Oh, no.” Fu Jing heard clearly this time and immediately refused.
“Wait! You didn’t even ask why before saying no?” Wang Bupo frowned, annoyed.
“No money.”
“Just five hundred. I’ll pay you back in two weeks.”
Wang Bupo had checked all possible contacts no one could lend him money. Only Fu Jing was left.
“Bro, I beg you, this is really important—it decides whether I can make money or not.”
“What are you going to do? Gamble it?”
Fu Jing didn’t trust Wang Bupo at all; he just seemed unreliable.
“No way! I’m not that kind of person! Do you think I’d risk it? I’m not stupid!”
Wang Bupo froze—he hadn’t expected Fu Jing to think so poorly of him. He didn’t know how to describe Fu Jing’s perception.
Fu Jing remained silent, expression almost saying, “Aren’t you?”
“Come on, Fu Ge, seriously, just five hundred! We’re on the same household record, I won’t do anything illegal. I promise!”
Wang Bupo didn’t care about pride anymore. He had no credibility left with Fu Jing, so he might as well be shameless.
“So what do you need the money for?” Fu Jing asked.
“Uh… an investment.”
He couldn’t admit it was for gaming at the café that sounded ridiculous. While confident, he couldn’t guarantee his skill advantage over others.
Fu Jing stayed silent.
“Fu Daddy, please, just five hundred…”
Wang Bupo persisted, mentally chanting: Shamelessness is invincible. A true man can bend and stretch.
“Fine.” Fu Jing couldn’t handle his flattery anymore. Irritated, he took out his phone and transferred 500 yuan.
Seeing the transfer, Wang Bupo gleefully jumped onto him: “WTF, Fu Jing! You’ll always be my best brother! Once I make money, big feast’s on me!”
Fu Jing was caught off guard, flinched, and pushed him away.
“Hands to yourself.”
Wang Bupo stumbled a little but didn’t mind, grinning: “Alright!” and walked off.
Fu Jing stared at the 395.78 yuan balance. His part-time wages hadn’t come in yet he’d have to survive the next two weeks on this…
Regret instantly hit him for lending money to Wang Bupo .
