Substitute Girlfriend Contract (GL) - Chapter 19
Every morning, Tao Anyu woke up early to make breakfast for Lu Mengxiao. At noon, she would switch things up—bringing back snacks from all over the city, sometimes even borrowing a restaurant kitchen to cook herself. At night, after coming home, she still made dinner and late-night snacks for her.
During the day, she would isolate herself in a small room with her laptop, typing away. Before long, she’d start grinning to herself. If she laughed too loudly, Lu Mengxiao would storm in and knock on her head.
One time, Lu Mengxiao walked in to find Tao Anyu previewing a new chapter. She leaned over to read.
“And then the female CEO was pinned down by her gorgeous secretary, never to rise again.
Heroine: Xiao Menglu.
Author: Yu Antao.”
“You didn’t even knock! Out, out!” Tao Anyu shoved at her with all her strength.
Lu Mengxiao held her down effortlessly, sliding the mouse in her hand.
“Don’t move. Let me savor my beloved consort’s divine masterpiece.”
“It’s not a masterpiece!II’m not popular at all—I’m just a nobody! Don’t look!” Tao Anyu struggled harder.
Lu Mengxiao gave a cold snort.
“Popular or not, I’m going to read it thoroughly.”
She clicked into the story’s details—it was a CEO romance. But in the story, the female CEO was the submissive one, while her personal secretary was the dominant one, tormenting the boss every day. The whole book burned hot with passion.
A quick search on the site—hah. It was actually doing quite well in its category.
“Well done, my dear consort. I like this one. But… shouldn’t you explain the names of these leads to me?” Lu Mengxiao dragged Tao Anyu over, caging her in her arms and pressing her head toward the screen.
“Tell me, shouldn’t we switch the top and bottom here?”
“I-I was wrong! I’ll change it! I’ll change it right now!” Tao Anyu flailed over the keyboard.
She had originally been writing for a magazine but only recently opened an account on a web novel site to post small stories. Her initial motive had been pure revenge—venting her frustrations with Lu Mengxiao. She had been very careful to keep it under wraps… but still got caught.
Lu Mengxiao pinned her until her temper cooled, then tossed her onto the bed and pressed her down.
“Come, let me give you some fresh writing material.”
Hell no—this was the office!
“I don’t need it, I have plenty of material already! Your Majesty should go review memorials instead!” Tao Anyu made a desperate last stand.
“Not enough,” Lu Mengxiao laughed. “I’ll give you something fresh—put it in and you’ll hit the top charts instantly.”
Realizing resistance was futile, Tao Anyu resigned herself, pointing toward the wide-open door.
“At least close the door!”
“No.” Lu Mengxiao’s voice was all mischief. “Facing the doorway.”
“No!!! Spare me, you turtle bastard!”
******
Whether she ever made it to the top charts, Tao Anyu would never know—because after the “facing the office door” incident, she swore she’d never write another ridiculous fantasy-revenge novel again. After reading her work, Lu Mengxiao had hunted her down and reenacted every single scene in the book…
“That damned Lu Mengxiao,” Tao Anyu muttered under her breath, rubbing her sore waist.
…
“Xiao Xiao.” Tao Anyu suddenly sidled up to her with exaggerated sweetness.
“What now?” Lu Mengxiao didn’t even look up.
Tao Anyu wrapped her arms around her, wiggling her fingers like claws.
“Do you want to be happy?”
Lu Mengxiao smirked.
“Do you even have the skills for that?”
“Hmm…” Tao Anyu tilted her head, thinking. “Never tried.”
“Then get lost.” Lu Mengxiao swatted her hand away.
“Don’t! There’s always a first time—teach me.”
“Teach you? This takes talent. Talent. Understand?” Lu Mengxiao gave her a sharp look.
Tao Anyu seized her hand and pressed it to her face.
“Look at me. Look at my face. My face.”
“…What about it?”
“Don’t you feel happiness just looking at it?”
“You’re using your face for this? Bold. Tao Anyu, you’re really bold.”
Tao Anyu pouted.
“Forget it then! You think I’m desperate for you? Plenty of people are waiting for me to spoil them.”
Lu Mengxiao chuckled.
“Hold on—I’ll invest in a gynecology clinic for you.”
“…Why?”
“So when you injure one person a day, you won’t have to keep sending them to the hospital. We’ll have our own!”
“Lu Mengxiao, get out!!!”
At that moment, Lu Mengxiao’s stomach growled softly.
She rubbed her belly.
“My dear consort, go prepare a meal for me.”
Tao Anyu was about to snap back but paused, nodded, and slid off her lap.
“Alright.”
At the door, she spun around.
“Xiao Xiao, give me some money.”
“How much?”
She held up five fingers timidly.
“Five million?”
Tao Anyu shook her head quickly.
“No, fifty thousand.”
Lu Mengxiao pointed to a drawer by the desk.
“There’s a card in there. Password is 201314.”
Tao Anyu fished out a bank card.
“‘Love you forever’?”
“That’s right.” Lu Mengxiao flopped onto the bed.
“Now go buy lunch. Otherwise I won’t have the energy to review memorials this afternoon.”
“Mm!” Tao Anyu puffed her cheeks and clenched her fists.
“Your Majesty, wait here. Your humble concubine will go hunt for food!”
While she was out, she stopped to check out some renovation companies near the office building. After much searching, she found one she could live with and told them she wanted to add a fully equipped kitchen to the break room.
Not wanting daytime construction to disrupt Lu Mengxiao’s work, Tao Anyu paid double for the workers to come at night. Lu Mengxiao assumed she was having something fixed for herself and didn’t ask questions—until the work was done, and she found out Tao Anyu had built the kitchen just for her.
The place sparkled, the marble countertop polished to the point you could see your reflection.
“How’s that? Nice, right?” Tao Anyu said proudly.
“This is called the ‘Beloved Wife Kitchen.’ From now on, I’ll cook for you at noon. No more running around outside.”
Lu Mengxiao nodded in satisfaction, scooped Tao Anyu onto the counter, and parted her legs.
“Perfect. My beloved wife’s kitchen.”
Tao Anyu kicked her.
“Get lost. I’m about to demonstrate my cooking skills.”
Lu Mengxiao leaned in to kiss her.
“I’ll eat you first.”
