Substitute Lover (GL) - Chapter 3
When she returned home, the weather had warmed up slightly. The plane glided across the horizon and slowly came to a stop.
The fields were a fresh green, the sky was a clear blue, and the bright spring was neither too hot nor too cold, just right.
“Try to suppress that hot search. Something like ‘Movie Queen Luo Yan is about to get married’ to divert attention,” Yang Yan said ambiguously, giving her a suggestive look.
Who was she going to ask to suppress it?
Of course, it was her “someone”.
She had a general idea that Jiang Cha had climbed the ladder to some powerful figure in the industry, otherwise, she wouldn’t have debuted so easily with just one photo. Occasionally, she would receive calls with instructions from “above”, various kinds of care, but she never knew who this “superior” was. She had asked Jiang Cha many times indirectly, but Jiang Cha would just give her a mischievous smile and say nothing more.
“Luo Yan is getting married, I know,”
Jiang Cha smiled, her lips pursed, and nodded, her ears turning slightly red.
“Your someone,” Yang Yan said, “Don’t take it too seriously. That’s just how things are in this circle, it’s all just for fun. If you get serious, you’ll lose.”
Jiang Cha continued to nod, like a chicken pecking at rice.
Seeing her seemingly serious expression, Yang Yan knew she hadn’t listened at all, so she had no choice but put on her eye mask and went to sleep, out of sight, out of mind.
There was no signal on the plane, so Jiang Cha waited the whole journey, listening to her agent’s endless scolding. As soon as she had a signal, she quickly opened WeChat and checked her messages.
She had replied!
Jiang Cha’s fingers curled up, her fingertips were cold with nervousness. She bit her lower lip, her long eyelashes blinked, and she clicked.
Under the makeup photo, there were three simple words: Looks pretty good.
She scrolled down.
There was nothing else.
But Jiang Cha just looked at those three words, her red lips pursed, her eyes shining brightly, and the corners of her mouth curved up, unable to be suppressed.
Her chats with Ji Fan had always been like this. If she scrolled through the previous records, there were more green than white, all of Jiang Cha’s rambling, and it was uncertain whether Ji Fan would reply.
But she was already very satisfied.
Taking advantage of her agent not paying attention, Jiang Cha started typing furiously.
– Are you coming home this afternoon? I’ll make you some soup.
– [Heart emoji]
Looking at the cute little kitten emoji in the chat box, Jiang Cha felt a little embarrassed and closed the page.
Really, there’s no need to expect too much, she thought.
Ji Fan was so busy, and besides, she had explained to her that she wouldn’t always be looking at her phone, she would only reply when necessary.
Even so, she still couldn’t help but overthink sometimes.
How does she see me?
A girlfriend?
Or a kept woman?
No matter which one it was, Jiang Cha couldn’t refuse.
After all… she had secretly liked her for so many years, and being able to get a little closer was already enough. Jiang Cha knew very well that she couldn’t be too greedy.
••••
Warner Group Headquarters, 15th Floor, Ji Fan’s Office.
“Ms. Ji?”
The assistant, holding a stack of documents, looked at her inquiringly.
The woman didn’t turn her head, she simply hummed in response, her bony, beautiful fingers tapping on the keyboard.
She was tall and slender, dressed in a retro blue silk shirt with a large lapel, revealing her long, graceful swan neck. The double row of silver buttons and the waist design highlighted her slender and firm waistline. The black pleated skirt had a diagonal slit, and her snow-white long legs were casually crossed, captivating and hard to look away from.
Her collarbone was very prominent, and under the cold light, the blue transparent sunstone earring on her white and tender earlobe refracted a gorgeous light blue halo, and the white hollow of her collarbone seemed to hold a pool of deep blue water.
“Are you really canceling the meeting later?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Ji Fan raised her long eyebrows, her eyes shifting from the pile of data on the computer screen to her assistant.
“Is there a problem?”
She turned her head slightly, her eyes smiling, but it sent chills down one’s spine.
The assistant was just about to say how important this meeting was, but the words got stuck in her throat.
“No, nothing.”
Ms. Ji, Ji Fan. The helmsman of the Warner Group, who single-handedly occupied half of the domestic entertainment industry. She was beautiful, but her beauty was cold and exquisite. She was a perfect example of an exquisite egoist. It was said that she was deep and scheming, and as a woman, she had squeezed away the property that originally belonged to her elder brother, and forcefully snatched half of the family property.
Everyone knew she was cold and ruthless, with a hidden knife in her smile.
…This was especially evident when she fired employees.
The assistant nervously closed the door, regretting her own talkativeness.
Why cancel it?
Ji Fan smiled lightly, her long, slender fingers picked up the coffee beside her and took a sip, a person’s face appeared in her mind.
So similar, one was young and inexperienced, the other was slightly mature.
The two faces flickered in her eyes, Ji Fan frowned, as if thinking of something painful, she supported her head, closed her eyes tightly for a while, and then opened them.
The phone screen flashed, and a dialog box popped up.
Ji Fan picked up her phone and looked at the chat box. At the top was a bright note – Ms. Jiang.
It was very common, polite and distant.
Ms. Jiang: Are you coming home this afternoon? I’ll make you some soup.
Ms. Jiang: [Heart emoji]
She just glanced at the message and exited the interface.
She wasn’t too lazy to type a reply, but she believed in prioritizing things, and some messages, some people, weren’t that important, so it didn’t really matter whether she replied to Jiang Cha or not.
After all, there were so many people trying to get close to her, each with their own little calculations. If she gave everyone a little sweetness, she would have been exhausted by the treacherous workplace long ago.
They approached her for money or for profit.
As for Jiang Cha…
Well, what was she after?
Feelings?
Ji Fan chuckled, only children talked about feelings. Pretending to be deeply in love, Jiang Cha was probably the most successful one.
Knowing how to be shy, to be coquettish, or to throw a tantrum, pretending to be indifferent.
And she happened to have such an innocently beautiful face, strangely similar to someone. Ji Fan couldn’t bear to be harsh on her just by looking at her face.
She sighed, slung her bag over her shoulder, and walked out of the door lightly.
Sitting steadily in the back seat, Ji Fan’s thin lips parted slightly, and she said softly, “Go home.”
The driver had been following her for several years and naturally knew where she meant by “home”.
“Home” meant going to the place where she kept her mistress; while “going to that big house” referred to the mansion that truly belonged to her.
Women were still more sentimental after all, and Ms. Ji was a woman.
Although her sexual orientation was a bit unique, she had only kept one young girl for all these years, and she had hidden her very well, unlike some other bosses who couldn’t even remember the names of the girls they had played with.
No one knew what the girl she “kept” looked like.
How beautiful could she be?
Well, no matter what, being able to lure a workaholic out of the office during working hours, she must not be a simple person.
Looking in the rearview mirror, Ji Fan sat quietly in the back seat, her eyelashes slightly curled, her dark eyes reflecting the flowing city, and she didn’t know what she was thinking, the corners of her lips curved slightly.
