Sunny Joy - CHAPTER 1
Chu Xi has a strong personality, while Song Ci Yue is timid. Perhaps it’s because their personalities complement each other that they became friends.
In high school, around the time when the weekend was approaching, Song Ciyue put her phone in the multimedia cabinet to charge. Unexpectedly, she forgot to turn on Do Not Disturb, and it rang during class.
Naturally, once it was discovered, the teacher confiscated it, after all, the school rules state that students are not allowed to bring phones.
And it was mentioned earlier that Song Ciyue is a timid person, so she is very afraid of the teacher and doesn’t dare to ask for it back.
What are students afraid of? Good kids are afraid of being scolded by teachers for not studying well, worried about leaving a bad impression on teachers, and afraid that having their parents come over will be embarrassing.
But when it comes to this phone, she really can’t bear to part with it.
Seeing how scared she was, Chu Xi comforted her by saying he could help her get it back, and then he went straight to the office to ask the teacher for it.
Before long, Chu Xi got the phone back and handed it to Song Ci Yue.
Song Ciyue was very happy to receive the phone she had been longing for. She had a sweet and cute appearance, and when she smiled, she had dimples.
She sincerely thanked her benefactor: “Chuxi, you seem to be different from others, like a hero. You are very brave and a good person.”
If this were a movie with special effects, there would definitely be a lot of little stars appearing in her eyes.
Having been friend-zoned, Chu Xi awkwardly touched her nose and said, “It’s nothing, really.”
In the eyes of many people, Chu Xi is not a good girl. She likes to hang out in internet cafes and play video games, her grades are average, she spends more time with boys, and she is different from other girls.
Not at all like the novels describe: although she smokes, drinks, fights, and hangs out in bars, she is a good girl.
However, she didn’t do any of those things mentioned above. When she went to bars, it was just internet cafes, purely to play games.
Maybe it was because Chu Xi had helped her, but Song Ci Yue didn’t distance herself from Chu Xi like others did, avoiding her at all costs. Instead, she often took the initiative to chat with Chu Xi and even introduced her to others.
Others gradually got to know Chu Xi through their interactions and no longer feared or distanced themselves from her. As a result, Chu Xi’s relationships with other girls improved.
The two of them gradually became good friends, and at that time, Chu Xi’s only hobby was going to the internet café to play games.
Since both of them are day students, after school, although Song Ciyue doesn’t play games much, she often accompanies Chu Xi, while she herself studies nearby.
Chu Xi often jokes, “Yueyue, you study so hard, you have to let me hug your golden thigh in the future.”
Song Ciyue smiled shyly.
Later, Chu Xi often saw injuries on Song Ciyue and, upon questioning her, learned that her original family was not very good. Her father was an alcoholic, her mother had died early, and the entire household was very oppressive.
Song Ciyue choked up, then hugged Chu Xi, as if embracing another vibrant and spirited version of herself in the world.
“Since childhood, my good friends have all come from happy families. I have never told them how unfortunate my family is because I don’t want them to feel sorry for me or care for me due to some other factors. I’m afraid they might really like me not for who I am, but out of pity and sympathy.”
“During that time when the negative energy was overwhelming, I really enjoyed listening to you share your stories. Listening to your stories, the playful banter between you and others, it felt like I could draw strength from them too…”
Chu Xi gently patted her back, comforting her.
“I will always be with you. You still have me, and I will protect you.”
From then on, their relationship became closer and closer, growing more intimate.
They say that brothers should keep clear accounts, but the two often mix their living expenses together. Chu Xi takes care of Song Ci Yue, and Song Ci Yue takes care of Chu Xi.
When they had money, Chu Xi would buy little dresses that all the girls liked for Song Ci Yue; when they didn’t have money, they would share a meal, and Chu Xi would save the chicken leg for Song Ci Yue.
The teacher in our class is giving a lesson, and this time it’s our senior brother who is teaching.
His classes are humorous and interesting, and are deeply loved by a wide range of students.
Although he is a high school teacher, he doesn’t occupy the class every day like our homeroom teacher, Ms. Zhenzhen. Instead, he leaves us a lot of time to take notes, review, and do other things.
And in Teacher Zhenzhen’s English class, we have to do this and that every day, and the worksheets are never-ending. We don’t even have time to correct our mistakes or do close readings of articles.
This time, while teaching the class, it suddenly shifted to other topics.
“These days, no job is easy to do, first it’s high school students, then it’s high school teachers. We even had a meeting today, asking teachers to come to class half an hour earlier to push students to study harder. Look at what time you all get up?”
Chu Xi’s voice was relatively loud: “Around five o’clock, I guess.”
Other classmates also said, “Five ten.”
Shu Ge nodded, “Hmm, then let’s go with the latest time. We gather for morning exercises at 5:40, and at 6:00, we have morning self-study. The school encourages homeroom teachers to run with us, and if they run for a full month, they get extra pay. I come less often, but your homeroom teachers come more.”
Everyone nodded in agreement, of course, Teacher Zhenzhen would love to be in the classroom 24 hours a day.
However, Shu Ge and Teacher Zhenzhen are exemplary teachers with genuinely good character. They never speak ill of each other behind their backs and often praise each other.
Teacher Zhenzhen and Shu Ge had a fight last time over some unknown reason, and you could hear the noise in the classroom. Judging by the duration, it was quite intense.
Besides being in the same office, the two of them are basically at the point where they don’t see each other at all.
Shu Geo continued, “If you pay 8,000, he’ll do 6,000 worth of work; if you pay 10,000, he’ll do it well; if you pay 20,000, he’ll try his best to understand what you mean even if you make a mistake; if you pay 50,000, he’ll be thinking about how to make it right for you even if you make a mistake.”
“So, we need to grasp the core. Don’t always start by saying that the communication cost with employees is too high. Employees either give money or give love; where is the management cost?” If you pay them enough, management is just serious love. You keep drawing plans for your employees all day long, but what’s the use of drawing plans without paying them? “Drawing pictures for employees all day long, is it useful if you don’t pay their salaries?”
Everyone burst out laughing; it was the first-time hearing someone, especially a teacher, say something so down-to-earth.
Chu Xi is Shuo Ge’s class representative; she really likes this teacher.
Maybe it’s because of Shuo Ge’s influence, but Chu Xi gradually shifted her focus to studying. Fortunately, she is also very smart and has already made it into the top ten of her class. If she keeps it up, she should be able to get into a good university.
The two of them take turns supervising at the school gate. Since Song Ciyue is easy to talk to, many people always ask her to bring food, and Chu Xi sometimes helps her refuse.
Although Song Ciyue has more friends than Chu Xi, she gets along best with Chu Xi.
